foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Might have said the same about Torres a few years ago... You might be surprised by this, but Torres was not and never will be a natural goal scorer
MHC Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Would slot back into any bottom half first team and a few top half, natural goalscorer, unfortunately he has a relationship with ARRY and will prob end up going there on loan Not likely it's practically a done deal, bet you he is announced as a Leicester player by Wednesday.

SecretPro Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Martyn Waghorn or big Emmanuel Thomas at Bristol. Both clear quality.. I hope this is a joke?
Robin JD Popley Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I know it was earlier into their tenure as our owners, but Vichai and Top paid Yakubu an extremely beneficial financial package to get him on loan here. I read somewhere that he was being paid somewhere in the region of £45,000 to £50,000 per week and earnt over a £1m in his time with us. Now, I know there are rules now in place to stop overspending but if they were prepared to push the boat out for him, I am sure they'd do the same thing again to ensure Defoe signs for us. They must have had some leeway on signing Cambiasso and, to be frank, they will do everything in their power to stay up I am sure. People have got to remember we are owned by a Billionaire. As I said last night, the fact that Mercado and the Guardian have gone to print on this and now Canadian press are also following suit says to me the odds in the public domain must be pretty much on the money. Even Sky have stated their view on the issue. We are led to believe Schwarzer signs tomorrow so I wouldn't be surprised in Defoe comes in then too or Tuesday. We will want them by Villa all being well.
Deucalion Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 People need to get over this fixation with how much players cost and how much they are paid. If we pay peanuts we will get Championship players.

If we pay peanuts we will get Championship players. Indeed, you can't expect to survive on peanuts in the PL. Just doesn't happen, it isn't like we are poor and don't bring in the crowds either.
Raj Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 People need to get over this fixation with how much players cost and how much they are paid. If we pay peanuts we will get Championship players. yep lets just pay them all 100k a week like they do at top clubs. Its nite like we've nearly bankrupted ourselves before is it??? Think big -we are big...eh...????
MGLCFC Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 yep lets just pay them all 100k a week like they do at top clubs. Its nite like we've nearly bankrupted ourselves before is it??? Think big -we are big...eh...???? It's the classic catch 22 - overspend and risk financial ruin, get Championship players in on Championship salaries and play in the championship next year. Whilst I want my club to be financially stable, I also want them to compete in the Premier League and I think if contracts are negotiated sensibly we should invest heavily now.
dayday Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 yep lets just pay them all 100k a week like they do at top clubs. Its nite like we've nearly bankrupted ourselves before is it??? Think big -we are big...eh...???? I think the majority will say you have pay the money or fall,we are not talking silly money, just enough to stop up. Lets be honest about it,money talks these days or forget it
Freesolo Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I wouldn't say its a fixation on wages but a Team like Leicester has to have a Wage Cap? im guessing 40/50k
Jamiebux Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I'm sure it's a dilemma for all newly promoted clubs whether to spend big especially now with FFP rules, it's not like we have spent much on transfers not including contract extensions. Must be a few quid available as long as we meet the FFP rules how ever they work!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Surely a relegation release clause would suit all parties. Defoe wouldn't want to play championship football and we wouldn't want to be stuck with very high earners
Raj Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Do we really need to max out the credit card to stay in this league? Our friends at Burnley as they often tell us spend nothing and are making a fight if it. Dont mind paying good money for good young hungry players..Not a guy who's been on hols for a while playing in the mickey mouse league. Thats just my opinion.
Richmondfox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 yep lets just pay them all 100k a week like they do at top clubs. Its nite like we've nearly bankrupted ourselves before is it??? Think big -we are big...eh...???? The top teams play top players big money. We have good players but as we have found out they aren't making the step up like we thought they would. I'm sure that if Defoe had the chances that James has had of late then they would've at least forced a save, the clear chance Drinky had and spooned at Hull, Cambiasso open goal v Liverpool/header at Swansea, Nugents chances at Chelsea, Vardy at QPR. All players that I love but are not taking their chances when presented. We need Defoe, like Cambiasso he'll make our players better. Jeff over the last few games has stepped up. He seems to be running at people, using his speed and strength to win free kicks and chances, taking more shots. Like Kane did to win the free kick, he was never going to get past brick wall of Was so he aimed between the defenders and won the foul. Young hungry players don't keep the bottom team in the league up.
muzzycomeback Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 People need to get over this fixation with how much players cost and how much they are paid. If we pay peanuts we will get Championship players. not monkeys?
Raj Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 You've just mentioned players like kane and schlupp doing well of late...just strengthens that i said. Give some of our players time and they well be the new Defoe of 5 years ago. If Defoe had stil been playing in a competitive league i might be more Upto it.but is that level any better than our Cchip ???
Babylon Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 People need to get over this fixation with how much players cost and how much they are paid. If we pay peanuts we will get Championship players. It's called being realistic. If the money is there and is sustainable then it doesn't matter, if it's not then it does matter.
