lcfc81 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 The good thing about Defoe is that even if his legs have gone he's got a rocket shot! We have plenty of willing runners, another quality finisher would be great. Also it might increase the chance of us signing Aaron Lennon.
Spanner73 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Some people amaze me , We're struggling to finish chances and If you can't see that defoe would be Better than what we have now there's something wrong , I don't believe it would be the last great piece of the jigsaw but it'll be a step in the right direction if we get him of course !!
LCCFox96 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I think Defoe could play well off of Ulloa if we do pull this deal off. He always had a knack of popping up at the right time and was very positionally aware, a big contributor to his impressive goal record, and that could combine very well with some of Ulloa flick ons. I also don't see how people can complain about us not finishing enough of the chances we do create and then proceed to turn their noses up at the signing of Jermaine Defoe. Madness. Everything from his goal scoring record and premiership experience to his finishing ability and professional attitude (he is well regarded by many managers as a hard worker) dictates this signing is worth taking what would be a small financial risk in the big picture of things.
Saxondale Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Would be a tailor-made addition - a proven top flight finisher. Get those pound notes out.
st albans fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I'm interested as to how this would work when we have already realised that 4-4-2 is not likely to work away from home or against the better teams. Leo is not going to play the withdrawn striker effectively and neither would Defoe. Unless we are also going to make some signings to bolster our defence and defensive midfield and perhaps play only one winger, then I'm not sure how it would work.

Simple answer, stick Ulloa on the bench because Defoe is better.
Dickov22 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Yeh, let's stick with Vardy...by the end of the season he might score another one! (I know there's more to Vardy's game, but seriously, Defoe has 124 Prem goals and 19 England goals) A striker should be our top priority. That doesn't mean it should be a 32 yr old who has barely EVER been first choice at a club, plays in a crap league in America and is probably on loads of money.
JonnyBoy Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Yea he's different calibre, can bang them in from disgusting angles

I'm unsure about him myself but lets not try to spin him into something he's not. You're trying to make him sound like an old-aged nobody, something he clearly isn't. Money and attitude are the two boxes I want checking before we go ahead with this.

Vardy is pathetically bad in comparrison to Defoe. Vardy litterally cannot finish for sh*t. Get's himself in front of goal and all he knows is 'kick it hard'. Honestly...
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I really really hope we don't go and sign Jermain Defoe on some obscene amount a week when he's hardly pulled up any trees in the MLS. I'd love us to scout and sign some really good up and coming striker both for now and the future. Let Arry pay Jermain 100 grand a week. He loves him, he can have him..Triffic..

Long term, yes lets go scouting for an up and coming. But isn't Vardy/Wood supposed to be up and coming? What City need RIGHT NOW is a goalscorer. A PROVEN GOALSCORER. Not some league 1 spotty faced gimp who 'might' have a future surely? Seriously, City can't win. We crave for a proven PL striker. We try to sign one (bareing in mind good players costs good money) and some people genuinely moan about it?

Great goal scoring record. I doubt we will sign him unless he's wages are reasonable not really Pearson is it.

It looks like he's going to Chelsea instead though.
crisp packet Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 at this last page? Really ?? 4-3-3 442 451 who gives a fcuk? If we get the chance to sign a striker of his calibre boy should we be taking it.... The rich keep getting richer! I can't handle 10 more years of championship and god forbid league one. Defoe is a premier league quality striker ! Vardy , Nugent and wood are not! 4 goals between them in 50 odd appearances this year says so,as does 14 points.

Leicesterpool Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Defoe would be a great bit of business in this transfer window, just what we need an experienced striker with a bit of pace who can certainly bang a few in. However like I've said many times I just think his most likely destination will be QPR, with it being London and Redknapp being there. Anyway If we did somehow pull of this signing i still think we should sign a couple of strikers, no disrespect to Vardy but he's been working hard but he's just not getting the goals for us, same for Ulloa (though he did score today).
Spanner73 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 On Defoe most of you are all lunatics !! You can't see a good thing when it's in front of you maybe the deal will fall dead in the water and we'll be relegated partly down to our goslscoring situation then you'll be complaining 6 months down the line we didn't sign anyone in January !! .
Robin JD Popley Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 If Defoe scored 11 for us in the remaining 18 games with Leo being more than capable of scoring too, we have every chance of staying up. How some people talk you'd expect someone to score every match. Unless your name is Messi or Ronaldo, that's highly improbable and even they don't do it.

If you've browsed a bit through this thread, you'll have noticed that a few of our American friends have commented on what you perceive to look like "he has hardly pulled any trees in the MLS". 11 in 19 isn't bad. It's even less bad when you consider the type of service he's gotten at Toronto and in what poor form his fellow teammates have found themselves in. All in all, still quite an accomplishment. Defoe has neither lost his speed nor his finishing touch at age 32.
