Vardy for England

I haven't seen enough of him to really have much of an opinion, but I very much doubt he's as good as Vardy is

You do have a higher opinion of Vardy than pretty much everybody though!

If England want to develop a style which has either high pressing or counter attacking at its core then the sooner they get Vardy in the better, particularly given that the qualifying process is an absolute shambles.

If England want to go a different, more possession-based route then there are probably a dozen better-suited strikers available.

Fairplay if he gets in but surely there are more deserving strikers at prem level. He's only had a few good games at prem level and only one notable one.

Name them...

(not having a go, just cant think of many good English forwards at the min)

Has Ulloa not got an old ancesteral link to England? He would be good for us. Welbeck and Rooney are a given, Lambert maybe chosen as well which leaves one place up fro grabs. He didn't play very well on Saturday though when he was watched.

However good he was last season, and he was brilliant, to have had one good game in the Premier League doesn't warrant an England call up. Shows the state of the national team that strikers are being considered after just one performance in the top flight.

Saying there are to be 4 strikers in the England squad, who are the best 4?

Rooney and Stuuridge (if fit) are without question.

The next 2 spots:

Lambert - hardly played, out of form

Welbeck- goals against the Swiss should mean he is in.

Berahino scored goals this season for WBA done well for U21s

Vardy good last season one good game so far this season

Crouch looking sharp got a couple of goals so far offers something different

Anyone else?

We have got such a dismal looking strike force.

Then why are you arguing with someone about it?

Defoe hasn't played for about 2 months with an injury?

He may even go for 3 strikers in the squad. It's between Lambert, Crouch, Agbonlahor and Vardy. I know who I'd go for!

That's part of the England set-up problem, they only pick players from the premier league. If a striker is on form scoring goals in the champ, why not pick him. I know the idea is that all the best strikers are supposed to be in the premier league but look at last year with Ings banging them in. Then you get a large number of foreign strikers in the Prem which basically cuts down the pool of players to choose from and the english strikers that are available are, in a lot of instances, second choice players for their clubs.

Because I tweeted #vardyforengland and received abuse back from a Palace fan who suggested Austin, Gayle, Ings and Campbell were all 'miles ahead of Vardy' which annoyed me. Is that ok?

You're right, I do have a very high opinion of him. Always have had really. Just my favourite type of player, and his rise through the ranks is just a great story. England's game is about counter attack and pace, which I think he's suited to.

Just arguing with a Palace fan on twitter now who says Campbell and Gayle deserve a call up more than Vardy does. Hilarious

Gayle has scored five goals in his last six PL appearances (+ 4 goals in 2 League Cup appearances this season). He looks a real talent. I don't think it's that hilarious that he would have more of a chance than Vardy for England. I know we have blue tinted specs and all that...

Jesus didn't see Townsend in there! what a shambles. could get a decent first xi out there but were ruining after that. 3 strikers lol.
