Dickov22 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Gayle has scored five goals in his last six PL appearances (+ 4 goals in 2 League Cup appearances this season). He looks a real talent. I don't think it's that hilarious that he would have more of a chance than Vardy for England. I know we have blue tinted specs and all that... How come Gayle wasn't playing at Selhurst then? Blue tinted/Vardy loving specs I may wear, but I believe he is good enough.
PerfumePonce Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 As much as I'd like Vardy to get a call up, I think Gayle probably should get it ahead of him.
ScouseFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Nathan Dyer is suffering from a bad case of Lee Carsley Syndrome. my mate's got a bit of that too. basically bald by 21 what a nightmare.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 How come Gayle wasn't playing at Selhurst then? Blue tinted/Vardy loving specs I may wear, but I believe he is good enough. I'm not suggesting Vardy isn't good enough to get a call up - he may be/he may not be - I was merely highlighting that Gayle has done more in the PL than Vardy so far and because of that, it wouldn't (in my opinion) be that "hilarious" if he got the nod ahead of our man. As for Gayle not playing in that game, that doesn't really mean anything.
Lionator Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I think some people need to get in touch with reality here.
VLC86 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Come on Vards, find yourself a Welsh granny, be a hero. Is that because he will get mistaken for Rooney and become England captain?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 21 of 23 named, 3 strikers? There should clearly be another striker in the team, with Berahino in the U21's why not someone else? If it wasn't Vardy fine, but someone, who picks 3 strikers for a squad? Baffling.
Stadt Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I wouldn't have bothered calling Rooney, Welbeck, Hart and Cahill up - we know what they can do so let some fresh blood play against the shite that we've got next. The press would go into meltdown though.

If it wasn't Vardy fine, but someone, who picks 3 strikers for a squad? Baffling. This of all the posts, is offering at least somthing of logical thought. Many are just criticising and being negative towards the Hodgsons choices.Give the young lads includung Townsend a chance.Ping ponging around each believing their own choices would be better and disqualifying the chosen, is in my opinion unfair, on those players, and pre-judging Hodgson, when he is in the process of re-building. However this post is at least questioning the basic essence of the squads character.I agree here why only 3 Strikers, though to be fair Sterling, Chamberlain, Townsend has forward playing Wing backs.Though only 3 out and out Strikers is puzzling, if you are looking to rebuild, and playing S.Marino and Estonia, another up and coming striker on the bench and for cover, would of been my choice.

As for Gayle not playing in that game, that doesn't really mean anything. Sorry, I phrased it wrong. It wasn't a 'if Gayle is so good why wasn't he playing Saturday' more I just wondered why Warnock wouldn't pick him with those stats. I listen to Adrian Durham so I'm aware how good Gayle supposedly is. I didn't realise his stats were that good tbh
Merging Cultures Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Let's be real, Vardy was never going to get a call up after one good game and one meh game.
Chug Laguna Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Vardy was never getting in. Still think Shawcross and Dyer should compare notes with Townsend, maybe borrow his kneepads and mouthwash.
ScouseFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 considering rooney is now deployed in a deeper role for country, lambert has barely featured and welbeck has only played about 3 games as an actual forward in his career i'm amazed he hasn't got another striker in there. not necessarily vardy, as nice as it would've been agbonlahor is more deserving, as is berahino, but i reckon that whole squad has about 3 games as actual strikers between them this season. seems odd he's only chosen 3.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I'm disappointed he hasn't featured but at the same time not surprised as mentioned before he's only played three premier league games. Also noticed Nathan Dyer as been snubbed again.
The Doctor Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 While this one was probably too soon for Vardy if we're honest, that's still a god awful selection of strikers. Good job it's only bloody san marino and estonia.
LCFCFOX6190 Posted 2 October 2014 Author Posted 2 October 2014 Can't believe townsend has got in. All that lad seems to do is shoot from distance
sylofox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Vardy or not he has only picked 3 forwards for 2 on paper easy games. If he wanted to blood Vardy this is ideal. A sending off and an injury we have one forward. The guy has lost the plot. Would love to have gave him a chance after this squad hope it works out. If not he has to go after these 2 games.
pazzerfox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 In my opinion, Vardy does not deserve an England call up yet. Surely you need to do more than have one good game against a poor Man Utd defence. I am a big fan of JV, but let's see how he has done by Christmas before saying he should be capped at International level. It wasn't so long back that people said he couldn't cut it in the Championship.
sdb Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Roy's losing it...if he hasn't already. Such a weak squad, and not only because the standard of English players is poor at the mo.
VLC86 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Roy's losing it...if he hasn't already. Such a weak squad, and not only because the standard of English players is poor at the mo. Will still get 6 points. Looks to me like he is trying to keep the top clubs happy by not taking a few players. As for Vardy, if he had a good game against Palace I believe he would have got a look in but in my opinion he cost is the match with that early miss/ not passing to Nuge and he clearly needs more than one good match to earn a call up.
MattGamble92 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that I was defending Vardy against a bunch of drunken idiots at Peterborough away who were shouting nothing but abuse at him and telling Pearson to "just admit he's got it wrong"
blue army 1988 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Yes not like hes our best striker or anything. If hes englands best striker at the moment amd just the fact that hes captain hes in the england team makes me very worried about our national side.
Ashley Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that I was defending Vardy against a bunch of drunken idiots at Peterborough away who were shouting nothing but abuse at him and telling Pearson to "just admit he's got it wrong" Same here with me on this forum. I said from the start he will be good after watching him he was instantly slagged off from some muppets on here.. makes me laugh.
