Realistic signings and other chit chat.

Recommended Posts

Having looked through a few squad lists a few who would fit the bill of likely to be available for loan and with a decent amount of Prem experience:

Darron Gibson (Everton)

Arouna Kone (Everton)

Wilson Palacios (Stoke)

Robert Huth (Stoke)

Stephen Ireland (Stoke)

Benoit Assou Ekoto (Spurs)

Gareth McAuley (West Brom)

Joey O'Brien (West Ham)

Not a lot out there!

That's a depressing list.

Although I do think Darron Gibson is decent. He can at least shoot from outside the box as well!!

Weren't we linked with Jonas in the summer? Now making his comeback.

Talking of Newcastle players, is davide santon injured? Not seen him much this season and can play either full back position

Definitely injured

He's also someone who is a first team player for them. No chance he'd come to us/they'd let him go

I see Reto Ziegler is available on a free... Left back with a lot of experience (prem, European, and international) , only 28. Might be an option to push out konchesky... Who has been off the boil recently?

Good shout - he actually bought himself out of the contract with Juventus due to the lack of playing time.

Currently training in Geneva with Servette FC.

Although I think we will shop from abroad, here are some players that are rumored to be unsettled. Mohamed Salah, Aaron Lennon, Vlad Chiricheș, Lucas.

Would never be able to sign them but perhaps a loan.

Alou Diarra is training with brighton, he is very experienced and certainly was a quality holding midfielder.

Also Spurs have just got that American right back, Yedlin, a visa for January. So Naughton would be behind Walker and him, as well as Ben Davies and Danny Rose at LB ahead of him on the other flank. This being said a natural RB is not a priority.

Also... just seen the washington post link on BBC sport website.... the russian ruble has dropped significantly in value against the dollar....

.... any potential there to sign some players in the russian leagues?? (admittedly there might not be many, but if they can play in snow, they can play in England! - They may even think of it as moving to a warmer country! ha)

Scott Sinclair, point to prove is a decent player, but is he match fit?

Martin Olsson - crying out for a left back, has impressed me when I've seen him play.

Robert Huth - Not playing for Stoke, could be a cheap signing no doubting his quality and experience.

Defoe - If he's still got it, could be just what we need.

Sanogo - Can't have too many strikers, could be a decent option.

Charlie Adam - Doubt he'd come but regular first team football could be tempting, he's in and out at Stoke.

Virgil Van Dyke - Would take him, playing in a sub standard league at the moment but definitely quality.

Arouna Kone - Quality player, could score us some goals, fitness though an issue?

Any of these would be decent signings for us IMO.

A think getting a few loans in looking for a move or a new contract is the way.  Maybe, Podolski or Campbell from Arsenal?

I would also look at the MLS - Keane, Defoe, Dempsey, Bradley, Cahill would all improve our team.

Problem with January is you are paying top $$$ for players and are many going to want to come to the team rock bottom.

Think all could be in the cards with the right negotiation...

Wenger isn't keen on Campbell or Podolski but wants to keep hold of both... 6 month loans would be great!

Keane like Podolski works hard and hits the target 99/100 times! Which is what we need...

Dempsey, Bradley and Cahill are all exactly the types of Midfielders we need!!! BUT would all only come to the premier league for a payday... Would make a 6 month loan possible but would cost!!!

Although if we don't get out of the bottom 3 we wouldn't be tied down any longer!!!

Would love to see them spend 10 mil getting this type of players in on loan to have a go for 6 months... If it pays off we stay up and we get TV money for a 2nd year if we go down we aren't bankrupted again!!!
