Wood out on Loan

According to todays sun, wood considering going out on loan to wolves or the sheep shaggers.

Not suprised. He's 4th choice of 4 strikers who aren't producing, we will sign another in Jan.

Hopefully he chooses sensibly and gets plenty of game time.

I was disappointed with his contribution yesterday. Not sure if it's lack of game time or ability, but there was one time he made space to receive a clearance from defence and completely missed it. It was nervy times and his job was to hold the ball and relieve pressure for a few seconds but he fails to even do the basics at times. I haven't completely given up on him, but that's really down to the games he played when he first arrived from west brim via millwall, he's contributed very little since then although his goals to minutes played in the premier league is still very good.

Loan and monitor his progress, he's still learning.

He's not good enough to be knocking on the door for the first team, but he's not going to get any better if he's not playing. A loan would make sense to me - send him out for the rest of the season, with the option to recall if necessary. Would be good for him to play in a winning side who play good football. Derby would be a good fit IMO.

Good move for Wood, willing him to do well but he needs a run of starts to gain confidence, Derby would be good just to piss the Forest fans off....

Still trying to understand how a player who had the start Wood did for us could end up like this. Really don't think it's his fault, under Pearson when we've signed a good striker who is banging in the goals for us we seem to change our style of play to hoofing. Same we've done with Ulloa!

He hasn't started a game in the Premier League which makes it harsh for us to judge him really, he didn't start too much last season either but clearly there's a reason for this. I think he's a good finisher but both he and his thought processes are too slow and his being on the pitch often reverts us to the long ball. Memorable sub goals against Everton and Burnley last year of course in recent times.

Sadly I think that's his level. There are far too many limitations to his game for him to ever succeed at this level IMO.

A loan for Wood made sense in the summer. With us apparently strengthening our attacking options this window and him currently 4th pick, a loan for Wood makes even more sense now.

He has talent, but whether that talent is able to cut it at Premier League level remains to be seen (well, he hasn't really played a lot, has he?).

It'd certainly do him the world of good to get more minutes under his belt and maybe even improve his finishing skills.

He would also work on his heading ability - for a man of his size, he's' more than a little afraid of taking on long balls into the box.

The jury's out on all the strikers really, not just Wood. Even if you look at the start he had with us, he wasn't ripping defences apart, it was a good run, nothing else.

Ulloa's getting some form back after the infamous 'no shots in 4 games' spell but Vardy and Nugent have 2 goals between them all season.

Why? GTF won't be on a hefty wage and his contract expires next summer.

But we are significantly more likely to use a Wood than GTF. We may be paying GTF peanuts but if we managed to shift him and another fringe player (someone like Bakayogo) or a loaned player with a larger wage (Gallagher) it frees up a decent weekly sum to put towards a wage packet for a January target and allows us to keep our better option, in Wood, available to play for us.
