Holiday Question:

We fancied a short break over in Norfolk, so Googled the dates and area we wanted and all the sites came up such as Booking.com.

We found something on a site called Vrbo.com and booked a cottage.

First time really using one of these sites but all went straight forward and we received a confirmation.

The confirmation said the owner would be in touch with further details, such as access and so on. This was 4 days ago now. Although we dont travel there until 20th, should I have expected some contact by now, other than just automated ones?

Stayed at a VRBO place in Belfast, didn’t hear anything from them until the day I arrived when they sent me entry instructions to the property. There’s nothing else I needed to know in advance

Aren't Vrbo the same company as Airbnb? If you have their contact details I'd message the owner if you're nervous, but otherwise I expect they'll be in touch before you go, there isn't any great rush atm

Anyone been to Thailand, specifically Phuket or Khao Lak area, in April/May who can report on what the weather was like?

I've been to Phuket and somewhere else near by, it was mid March and the weather was lovely.

Its during 'hot season' so Phuket will be around low to mid 30s.

Back from Budapest.

Amazing city with a great vibe and architecture all around.

Just chilling and people watching  ( women mostly with very little on!!!) along the banks of the Danube in sweltering heat, that's the life!!!

Bit of a random summer holiday trip but going to Hamburg next Monday with 2 kids, cheapest place to fly.

Already booked the Zoo and Miniatur Wonderland (had to book 7.30pm because didn't realise it booked up so far in advance lol )

U-Boat looks pretty cool so will probably do that but anything else kid friendly I'm missing?

Also after recommendations for a drink/food, obviously not the Reeperbahn....

Particularly day/early evening drinks

You can walk a tunnel under the water, remember that being fairly interesting.

We did a boat tour, which I actually really enjoyed.

Miniature wonderland is fantastic. There's a car museum nearby if you like cars.

The Elb tunnel is the one under water, it's quite a walk though, depending on how old the kids are. The lake boat trip is nice, not sure how attractive that is to kids.

It's a nice city.

Could be worse I'm in Rhodes when we play Cov. I don't fancy the Harry Maguire treatment after my blood vessel has burst and there's some bloke from Kenilworth wearing Sky Blue in a bar.

Hamburg v St Pauli next Friday if you're still there.

Getting hold of tickets may be a problem though.

See if the Mrs will look after the kids and head out to the Reeperbahn - just say you need to get some fresh air for a cpl of hours

I'm also looking at going to Sri Lanka in Jan/Feb next year as England are due to tour for 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches.

Problem is that dates/venues have not yet been announced. Do you have any idea as to when the dates will be confirmed? Grateful for any info.

Dates & venues out now. 22/1 until 3/2. Colombo & Kandy. The whole tour is about 2 weeks. Gulliver's have priced up package deals already, which l guess, will be more expensive than Barmy Army Travel & International Cricket Tours (who should be sorting out deals this coming week).

I've travelled with the latter 2, both really good. ICT just about edges it for me.

Thanks. Yes the fixture dates/venues were finally confirmed a few days ago.

Three of us going but we've booked independently. Two of us from 19th Jan to 1st Feb and one staying on for an extra week until 8th Feb. Return Heathrow to Colombo flights approx £840 each and we have flexibility to book our accommodation in different places.

Will watch all 3 x ODIs in Colombo and possibly 1 x T20 in Kandy. Will spend the free days visiting other places of interest.

Any recommendations from people who have been to Sri Lanka before would be appreciated.
