Sanskruti is child friendly and decent Indian restaurant.

Western Approaches museum is interesting if you're into WWII stuff. But children would be better in World museum or Museum of Liverpool. Anfield or new Everton stadium tour.

Probably do the Anfield tour. Everton play at home on the weekend we go so not sure it'll be possible there.

Have checked out World Museum, will be giving that a visit.

Will look at the restaurant, thanks!

Next May is a long long time away, possibly that? The f1 has also moved to a May slot, that is in Montreal but they might be anticipating more passing tourists hence hold rooms to sell at a higher price nearer the time.

I know Montreal is impossible on f1 weekend, I tried to go when I worked in the US and the city is virtually full on race weekend.

We did Air BnB in Toronto and got an amazing apartment looking over the CN Tower and the Blue Jays Stadium.

Have you thought about looking at that route?

I'm sure it goes without saying.... but if you are visiting Toronto you 100% HAVE to visit Niagara Falls. It's a real spectacle.

The F1 is possibly a good shout. We're leaving on the Friday as the race is Sunday. People wanting to do a long weekend and incorporate Toronto might be booking.

We did look at Air BnB as It's apartments we're looking at rather than just a hotel room and two were near the CN tower but we're further out now. Hopefully, we are....

And yes, the trip is primarily to visit Niagra Falls. We'd looked at an Alaska cruise which went to Niagra Falls and Toronto first. However, we've now booked to start the cruise in Miami and sail to Alaska. So, I suggested that as we're nearly there, it's that side of the pond, right 🤣....we could pop into Toronto and Niagra on the way home 😁

We didn't find THAT much to do in Toronto as the weather was crap.  But it's a nice city.  Went to a baseball game. Most. Boring. Sport. Ever.

Just back from 5 days in Hamburg with the kids, really enjoyed it.

Got really lucky with the weather, just the one evening where it chucked it down, but hot and sunny meant we could just wander around.

Yesterday afternoon sat in a bar on the 'beach' watching huge ships going past, could've done it for hours lol

Miniatur Wunderland was fantastic, kids loved the zoo. U boat was pretty shit imo, interesting (and a struggle for me) to squeeze through but didn't really tell you anything. Having a look around the rickmer was better.

Expected St Pauli to be a shithole, but it was worse than that lol rubbish every where. Missus insisted we walked up the bunker which gave a nice view of the stadium.

Found it a bit more expenses than I thought but you could probably do it much cheaper if you wanted too. We have been more of an all inclusive family in recent years so found the haemorrhaging money a struggle.

Flew back late last night but managed some of the build up to the Derby around Landungsbrucken, Hamburg shirts everywhere.

The biggest German city I've not visited and I absolutely must. Always wanted to go to Minatur Wunderland.

Mersey ferries river cruise is something different and it's the best view of the city. There's also a kids science centre called Eureka at the Seacombe (Wirral side) terminal. Really good views over the city from Everton Park as well and there's a kids play area there too.

If you've got time and the weather is OK, I'd recommend going up to Waterloo/Crosby or Formby beach. More facilities etc at Waterloo but Formby is easily the nicest spot and there's a squirrel trail to help try and keep the little one engaged. Both Cathedrals up on Hope St are worth seeing too.

Sanskruti is pretty good. Duke St Markets is a good spot, its one of those places with various food traders and you just order everything by QR code. I can't really speak too well to child friendly stuff but I think a lot of places here are relaxed and will do what they can to accommodate you.

I will try and have a better think about whether the spots I would recommend for coffee/lunch/dinner are OK for kids. Liverpool is a great city and it's very friendly, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Any questions feel free to DM me.

Very glad i didn’t happy clap out of this. What an incredible week in Jordan. The scenery of wadi rum, the craziness of the dead sea and obvs the sheer beauty of Petra. People were incredibly welcoming, good food, v safe for women. No tourists due to the ongoing hostilities. To have Petra to ourselves for over an hour on weds morning was unforgettable. I really hope tourists return, the country and its people richly deserve it

We're thinking of spending a week in Jordan next year, was it long enough? We're thinking of 2/3 nights in Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea but just not sure how long we'd need in each. Also if you'd recommend anywhere you stayed/ate/drank please share!

A week was more than enough. Landed and one night in Amman. There's nothing there, Citadel, grand Mosque, amphitheatre is a time pass. Down to the red sea, insane snorkelling and proper resorts. Two nights in desert camp at Wadi Rum. This is like Mars, you have to see it to believe it. Two nights in Petra. Obvs this is the best part, do the difficult hikes as the views are unmatched. Dead sea is scarcely believable, it will sting like mad though. Another day doing random tourist bits like Jerash, Mt Nebo, Madaba. All in it is a real holiday, no happy clappers or additional needs types, tourists are there for an adventure.

The locals and food are incredible, take lots of pre/probiotics before the trip to get your stomach in line and don't happy clap out of any meals!! Accommodation was mid-range 3*'s at each place apart from desert camping. Can't remember anywhere I ate, all local reco's. To get the best of the trip you've got to be fit enough to hike 20km per day in the heat. It's hard but there's no point going if you're not up to it but you really won't regret it

Happy clappers - The ones on this forum who are always going on about how much of a shambles everything is without doing anything about it.

Additional needs - That is a Jersey term I've unfortunately picked up without realising.....those needy people who NEED every minute planned for them. 'Where are we meeting?'  'Is it going to rain, should I bring a brolly?' 'What are you wearing?' 'I've no idea mate the missus does all that' you get the gist

A holiday like Jordan likely won't have any of those types as the itinerary is so variable

Ha yes I'd read about the 15-20k a day. And yes we plan to do Jerash from Amman, and then Mount Nebo and Madaba on the way to the Dead Sea.

I also didn't know the Dead Sea stings so thanks for the warning!

We're really looking forward to it, it's somewhere I've wanted to go for ages along with Damascus., not quite ready for that yet but hopefully in the future.

Yeh if you have any slight cuts, or have shaved in the past day, the dead sea will brutally expose them.

Jordan is a safe haven in the middle of madness. In any normal world without centuries of Western interference you could do: Jerusalem, Jordan, Beirut, Damascus and Karbala/Najaf as a trip. The oldest and most historic civilisations on the planet. But let's not get into that before this thread gets locked!

This maybe a long shot, but can anyone recommend a B&B or hotel by the coast that takes dogs?

My dog diagnosed with an aggresive form of cancer, the prognosis isn't good and I'd like to take him to the seaside next weekend if its to be his last time.

We normally take him to Filey/Scarborough but everywhere booked up.

Really needs to be within 2/3 hour drive.

Will post in dogs thread also.

Rhodes - Next Tuesday for ten days.

Mechelen, Belgium - Two nights in October

Bari/Puglia - Three nights in November

Paris - Four nights in December

All strategically placed so I don't stress with work.

From your location not too far to Hunstanton.  Loads of pubs dog friendly, beaches are ok too.

Which part of Paris are you staying in?

Funny question that as it's been a long running drama

I'll pre qualify it by saying that my partner can't have dairy to eat, so having vegan or vegetarian restaurants/bakeries et al nearby is useful. So if we are out all day and she struggles to find anything she can eat with confidence, we will wait out - so nearby is good for brekkie and late dinner.

We were originally booked in Saint Germain des Pres (6th) as I read it was very traditionally Parisian but safe, if slightly taken over by instagrammers. As I started to plot vegan eateries, it was clear there was not much around the 6th as the traditionalism was more French cuisine restaurants.

So we have ended up in 11th nearby Rue Oberkampf nearby Bataclan. Lots of food and bars around there I'd like to try and thankfully some completely vegan options.

Generally speaking, we will spend a night in 5th/6th and another day head towards Pigalle but probably early evening after doing Montmartre, so we avoid it when it gets chaotic.

Has anyone noticed a significant increase in package holiday deals in the last month?

I'd prepared a shortlist of a few options for January or February, a month or so ago, just a bit of winter sun in an AI hotel. I'm sure everything I looked at was about £1500 but looking again this week and they're all £2000.

A mate had mentioned price rises a while ago but I'd assumed the issue was school holiday dates. I'm firmly not in school holiday dates.

Are late deals still a thing?
