Any reccomendations for places in the UK to go for a night or two? I did an area near Snowden a few weeks ago and it was class just going to different pubs, having a wander and some nice food by myself. I climbed Snowden aswell like but it was just a lovely area to be in and I'd deffo do it again in the future. Thought it'd be weird but genuinely enjoyed the time to myself with a book and whatever.

Was thinking Scotland but it's a bit much for only a couple of nights as it'll take like 6 hours to get up there but I'm open to anything really. Thinking down south potentially but like I say, very open.

Edinburgh. Honestly one of my favourite cities I’ve been to

Pembrokeshire - Amazing coastline, great beaches, Coastal Path walks, sea trips to islands, great wildlife and lovely campsites...

OR

Anglesey, The Lleyn Peninsular (brilliant for camping/coastal walking) or anywhere along the N Wales coast (avoiding the obvious like Rhyl, Prestatyn etc)

If you get anywhere near Cader Idris give me a shout

Just booked a cruise in November 2022 (so literally a year and a half away 😅) for 14 nights to Spain & Portugal. Never booked a cruise before so used a travel agent for the first time - can anyone tell me what a reasonable price for something like this is to stop my ocd telling me we could have got a better deal? We paid £700 per person which we were told was a great deal but they’re bound to say that! Not peak travelling times with probably iffy weather. But hey if that is a good deal, you’re welcome 😁 Just hoping covid’s a thing of the past by then

£50 per night is cheap as chips.  I reckon £75 is the cheapest I can get, and anything less than £100 is pretty good.

Of course, if they ask you to bring your own oar ...  :dunno:

You would have probably done better booking direct with the cruise company. Make sure and make any Payments by Credit Card. Which will give you some protection.

I've done quite a few cruises, They are so relaxing facilities are excellent and they feed you to death, If you like Food as I do.

A few pointers might be useful. Choose a Cabin near the Center of the ship as it move the least. I wouldn't bother about outside Cabins, you spend so little time in them.

Choose an early seating for Dinner as you get to choose your seats for the Evening shows and if it's one you really like you can stay and watch it a second time when it's put on again for the people who are Dining on the 2nd Seating. You also get the best seats in the Bars too for the same reason.

If you like the Casino's give your self a nightly limit as you can lose sight of how much your spending when your using an onboard card.

Check also is their free gratuities as they can add up to a tidy expense at the end of the Cruise. Booking this early you should be able to get them free.

Also check out what free onboard credits are available. You could get 100 pds or more in onboard credits to spend on board.

I'm sure you will enjoy it as they are wonderful and like no other Boat you could imagine.

I’ve been on a couple of cruises with family as a kid, this is the first one I’ve had to book as an adult though - the main thing enticing us to be honest was the food...And I’ve been watching too many episodes of air crash investigation so boat it is 😝 We have inside pf cabins which apparently means we’ll probably be at the front of the ship where you feel the waves more, but that’s fine - the near hurricanes in the bay of biscay that time of year will be like a rollercoaster! We are on P&O Iona though, and apparently they have freedom dining so you can turn up to dinner whenever and sit wherever you want, which is perfect for us. Gratuities all in the price too,

I did some research and I saw different advice, some people said go with a travel agent as they can give you better deals, but others go direct with the cruise lines and if you find it cheaper you can get onboard credit, and after trying and failing to get hold of p&o I just said sod it and called the first travel agent google told me 😂 We should have asked about onboard credit, but I guess that’s too late now, unless we find a much better deal and can persuade the powers that be

Yes the food is great onboard. The Cruise lines also use certain agents to sell blocks of Cabins and sometimes you can get a better deal But generally, especially if your booking early which you are , The cruise lines give good deals to get money into the Company early. Once your happy with what you've got that's the main thing.

The movement of the ship is not much of a problem as they are so big and move so slower for comfort. it's really only if your in bad weather which they try to avoid.

I was on one in the Caribbean with a Hurricane coming and the Captain said he was trying to get out of it's path so it ended up a mystery tour.

Good luck with it and enjoy it when it comes.

Just booked 3 nights in Wales, some random Airbnb off Colwyn Bay. Looked for one of the cheapest ones I could find. Think i've found myself a bit of a bargain. Looks like he's got it cheap because it's his first year hosting and he hasn't had reviews yet. Also might mean i'll wake up to him sniffing my girlfriend's hair.

£160 for 3 nights at the end of July. I'll take that I think.

View from the window looks nice though!

Back in the early eighties I was travelling in Egypt with a woman I was seeing at that time. We arrived in Cairo to find there was some kind of festival going on and there were no hostel places to be had anywhere. We went to a restaurant to discuss our options; we got chatting to the manager, and when we explained our predicament he offered to put us up in his house. He seemed like an urbane and well educated man, so we gratefully accepted. Long story short - I awoke in the night to my girlfriend screaming, to find that the guy had climbed in bed next to her and was fondling her tits. I responded as you might expect, the upshot being we were wandering the streets of Cairo at 02.00.

What I would expect as a response is, tbh, rather lurid and best kept to.myself

Decided to go to the Algarve in Portugal when it went green  ….  Of course as soon as it we did it it went amber.  Then whilst watching the news (first I heard of it) ..  you had to have had both jabs.  The hotel had contacted us saying that some restaurants had closed and there was always the fear that Michael (I don’t give a shit about customers) O’Leary might cancel or move the flight.  Anyway ..  we thought fook it !! …. we’re going and that’s it …. we jumped through all the hoops got our test done and kept everything crossed.  We went to  Birmigham airport very early and were  first in the queue …. sailed through ! …. then enjoyed a lovely breakfast at Pret A Manger (well recommended).  There were only 20 people on the flight and after a few questions and form showing we got through customs.   Now sat on our balcony in my orange shorts necking a few local brews before the game starts ….  :)

(Fingers crossed we get home alright!) ..

Nice one 👍🏼
Ryanair went up in my estimation last year, still continuing to fly with only 40+ passengers on our flight, it would (I think) of been more cost effective for them to just cancel the flight.

Anyway have a great time

Burnt my fookin back again !! ….  not that long ago I really buggered it by forgetting to put sun tan cream on (think the doc said it got to the second layer) … and now despite a liberal covering of factor 30 and not too long out it looks angry and feels a bit sore again.  If my shirts off again when swimming for example it’s factor 50 or covered from now on.   Lesson finally learned.  Look after your skin you lot !!

Ryanair won’t cancel any flights mate, if they do they have to refund people that have booked but not travelled.

I have the same respect for Ryanair after using them for 2 spanish trips last year,.post pandemic. Running  flights with 25 punters on board, shitting money, perfectly punctual. Felt like a private jet tbh. For 50 quid a leg.

And, for a foul up.with a voucher I had, their webchat sorted out the refund, zero hassle.

The poor customer service thing is a myth. Play by the rules, and they are perfect. Try and swing an oversized, overweight bag onboard without paying extra, they are entitled to tell you to do one

Honestly it might be to a certain extent a myth but they really are a foul company trust me.

They won't cancel flights as that means they have to pay out. They wouldn't have sh4t money on your flight, you were subsidised by all the people that booked, couldnt fly, and won't get a refund from Ryanair.

I think their customer service is terrible, they hire the absolute ****** of society who clearly do not want to be there, and will work for a few years before moving on. I remember a flight from Stockholm being delayed for 3 hours, reason: its been a long day.

That being said, you get what you pay for, and the reason i and so many others keep going back is because it is so cheap
