Guest Col city fan Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Agree with all of that Col One thing is for sure...IF this team does get relegated, it won't be down to lack of effort and commitment. You can see it in the side..we retain belief that we can improve and push on. Energy is the key to our success. Even Knockaert demonstrated he is still massively up for the fight.

Yep, Pearson can certainly keep a good dressing room. Should be a massively tight battle for survival
Guest Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Who remembers when Joe Cole was a bright up and coming star?
MC Prussian Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Who remembers when Joe Cole was a bright up and coming star? I'll always remember him for that wonder goal at the 2006 World Cup.

It's a hallmark of Pearson's sides. In the 200-odd games he's managed us I think the only one where the players didn't put the required effort in was the infamous Barnsley debacle. Coincidentally it's the one time I really thought his time was up.
st albans fox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 If the game was about possession and making space in the first 2/3 of the pitch, villa would be challenging for Europe. how they cannot do anything beyond that point is astonishing. So inept in the final third. we went two against three in the middle and were happy to let them keep it. not many sides at this level you can say that about,

ScouseFox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 I don't know, I can think of a few cup games. Cup games don't count As an aside im shocked that some people seem surprised that Knocky's workrate and defensive work was immense. Have they not seen him play for the last 18 months? I know it was only Aston villa and they are comfortably the worst side we've played this year, but I'm glad knockaert turned a few heads yesterday. He was always goin to get his chance in January and I hope he continues to take it with more MOTM performances.

Knockaert is an enthusiastic and ambitious young man. And he's clearly been made to wait.. It's a great indicator of both manager and player that when he DOES get his chance, he's as energetic as ever. Very good sign that the squad understand its a squad game.
The Blur Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Wasn't that the TV guys taking him to one side? Also, does anyone know what that track is that plays in the background when the clock's counting down before the game, has a lot of catchy guitar riffs in it? Oh, that is another possibility but Konchesky looked quite annoyed so it could be a drug test as surely he does not mind an opportunity to talk about his winner!
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Finally we've played well against a shit side. For the first time all season in the league. Definitely a result and performance that gives me hope. I'm starting to look forward to matches again, we need to keep this up and build on the momentum. Very hopeful about the Stoke match, but we do need to be a lot more clinical.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Love this photo. Something for everybody. King with a world class gurn, involved with the sort of competence and enthusiasm in this situation you'd expect from a nice middle class boy who has found himself in the middle of a bar brawl on a Saturday nights after his mate has said the wrong thing to the local oik. Wasyl obviously going straight for the throat. Even though you can't see his face you can tell it's frightening from the jaw tension. James brooding in the middle for the ladies/Scouse.

Wasyl crumpling Westwood In addition, Cleverley screaming for attention and wanting to be important.
Corky Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Cleverley looks as though he wants to stop Clark getting into trouble whilst simultaneously noticing Was steaming in.

I was also pleased that wasn't constantly trying the spectacular yesterday and wasting the ball but keeping it simple
ScouseFox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 James does look majestic on most photos I've seen of this altercation
StanSP Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 It does take a special something to look good during a fight. #nohomo
ScouseFox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 He's certainly been guilty of not tracking back in the past. I was also pleased that wasn't constantly trying the spectacular yesterday and wasting the ball but keeping it simple Yeah maybe like 2 years ago. His defensive work throughout last year was better than most wingers ive ever seen play for us. People just see him do a step over every now and then and are way too quick to say he's just a "show pony" etc. He's not. He was when he joined but nige has worked that out of him and turned him into a ridiculously hardworking winger who's also got a trick up his sleeve. And yes I agree, over the last year or so (our run in last season and the glimpses we've seen this season) he seems to have learnt the right time to try and take the piss and the right time to control it, beat a man if necessary and then cross/get a pass off. Also don't think he had one 35 yard shot yesterday (?), he usually always slips two or three of them wildly ambitious efforts in per game.
narboroughblue Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Watched MOTD and Goals on Sunday, you forget how many great chances we had. If we get more clinical then there will be less pressure on the defence and therefore less mistakes. Perhaps we won't see another centre back in the window if that's the case Anyway 2 penalties for me and a soft but fair red for James. Clark should have also been straight red but two yellows better than nothing.
Raj Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Im.not hAving anyone hammer ulloa..especially for saying he's lazy?! He's on the wing in the middle trying to chase back, loads more than nuge .If he stayed in the middle like a ball greedy striker should he'd have even more goals.

World beater from 25 yds but shocking in the box ,he and Vardy are never going to score enough to keep us up. Can't believe some people want Ulloa dropped for Kramaric instead of Nugent ,the most un -clinical striker in world football, could of cost us 3 points yesterday.
tripe Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 image.jpg Pearson's pre-match team talks just got so much easier. Just needs to show them this photo.
