Lovely ambience and really nice staff.

Not exactly "in and around town", but went to Opheem in Birmingham last night and it was absolutely sensational.  Not exactly a place to eat once a month as it'll bankrupt you, but well worth visiting on an occasion.

Went earlier this year, absolutely incredible experience

Yeah I’d say it’s the best of Birmingham in that field of restaurant

I had an incredibly dysfunctional meal at Merchant Of Venice last night. We were okay but the service was absolutely terrible. All the waiting bar one person disappeared for 25-30 minutes. People ordering drinks and them never turning up. A weird table system. The food was good and plentiful. Decent value too. But I left with a really weird opinion of the place and I also didn't find it authentic in the slightest.

Which one? Station one is miles better in my experience

That was my first thought when I saw the place first open.

Loseby Lane

Yeah only been to that one once, London road is ran and staffed by Italians so it's miles better (well with some Italian idiosyncrasies still)

Apparently Tom Holland and Zendaya went out for a curry in Market Harborough after a night at the Curve this weekend. Nice to read something focusing on positive exposure.

In the county? Couldn't wait to get out of the city.

What did you want them to do? Flood the aisles and serve food from a gondola?

One of my pet subjects this is. The city has gone. The third world has won that for themselves.

The only saviour for what was once Leicester is for an alternative cultural and dining scene to emerge in the county. Not dissimilar to what happened in Cov years ago, whose 'scene' is in Leamington.

Restaurants follow the money, and inner cities aint.  Loads of guys moving to 'affluenter' towns with regular custom.

Pre match with a bit of time to kill.

Thought I'd give Sonrisa, Argentinian, a try in the city centre.

Food is good, but if I'm being picky the steaks are a touch pricey.

Busy enough for a Monday night in between Christmas and New Year.

Went to Sonrisa tonight. Had the exact same steak order, as I’d had at Knight and Garter about a week ago. The food was  better than what I’d had last week but the service was so disjointed, I’d prefer Knight and Garter. They had enough staff on and they were nice but clearly an issue with the management and lack of organisation.

Went to Gurkha New Delhi for the second time on NYE.

First time was good but nothing out of the ordinary, bit it was excellent the other day. All 4 of the starters we ordered were exceptional and the Goan lamb was super too.

It’s a very good village curry house, and actually Indian, rather than your usual stock Bangladeshi village curry house. The owner there is a good character too. Mountsorrel really does have it all! I was in there on the 27th and the service was a bit slow but the food was as solid as ever! Be fuming if it ever went

Only thing that is missing imo is good restaurant that sits somewhere between an Indian restaurant and a Michelin starred one lol

I suppose Quorn is only 5 minutes away
