leicsmac Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Fifa: Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini & Jerome Valcke suspended Fifa has provisionally suspended its president Sepp Blatter, secretary general Jerome Valcke and vice-president Michel Platini for 90 days. Former Fifa vice-president Chung disabled-joon has been banned for six years and fined 100,000 Swiss Francs (£67,000). The punishments were handed out by the ethics committee of football's world governing body. Blatter, Valcke and Uefa president Platini are being investigated by the committee over corruption allegations. Unless I'm missing something here that is possibly the finest example of The Scunthorpe Problem I have ever seen.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Given I thought it'd be a case of never rather than late I am not going to complain about how long it's taken. absolutely ecstatic Blatter is finally getting his medicine.
Wycombe Fox Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 I was astonished when I heard that Sepp Blatter had appeared before the FIFA Ethics Committee. FIFA has an Ethics Committee???
Alf Bentley Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Chung disabled-Joon? Comes from Ulan Bator, capital city of the country of Disabledolia.

Wymsey Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Haven't known someone to be so up his own arse as him, and thinks the world owes him something.
Fox92 Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Love watching Platini the footballer. One of the greatest players ever. Can't stand him now.
Wymsey Posted 10 October 2015 Posted 10 October 2015 Platini now appealing... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34495062
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Problem is it's not really Blatter and co who are corrupt, it's FIFA. Whoever takes over will talk the talk but be just as bad if not worse.
MC Prussian Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 New allegations by the German news magazine "Spiegel", alluding to dubious transactions between the German Football association DFB and former and late adidas CEO Robert Louis-Dreyfus. Dreyfus allegedly gave the DFB slightly over 10 million Euro (roughly £7.5m), the majority of which were then used to buy votes from four Asian representatives in the 2006 FIFA World Cup election committee - a competition which then went to Germany with a very narrow 12 to 11 votes in favour of "(Deut)Schland". http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/documents-indicate-slush-fund-used-in-german-world-cup-bid-a-1058212.html
Jattdogg Posted 17 October 2015 Posted 17 October 2015 Lets be honest the only way to resolve this is to disband fifa and start all over again. Too much corruption that you cant trust any of the tossers. To say that england or usa or any other country does not attempt to buy votes is laughable. Im sure its rampant. A new organization needs to be created whereby everything is transparent from where funding dollars go to salaries to bidding $ and processes, to who voted for who and why, relatonships documented between players/execs/politicians/advertising/term limits/contracts you name it. Im not a pro at how to do this and what else needs to be looked at but what we currently have is just not feasible and never will be.
Wymsey Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Even a concern about a candidate for FIFA presidency is now raised... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34611533 Can we just have someone to take over that isn't to do with football and is clean?

I dont work for any football organization and shower daily. No sexually transmitted diseases/infections here. I also cannot be bribed because of my strong stance on doing right. Wheres the apply button for the job?
davieG Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Seven candidates will stand in Fifa's presidential election on 26 February. The candidates are: Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Musa Bility, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale. Trinidadian ex-footballer David Nakhid was not included on the list, despite saying he had submitted his candidacy. The election is to find a successor to the suspended Sepp Blatter, who is under criminal investigation. The Swiss 79-year-old announced he would be stepping down in June, with world football's governing body at the centre of a corruption scandal. Analysis from BBC Sport's Richard Conway "David Nakhid's candidacy has been invalidated due to the fact he only received four valid football association nominations. Candidates require five. "It is understood one national association nominated both Nakhid and another candidate. Under the election rules that would invalidate the nomination. "Nakhid's camp are believed to be writing to Fifa to demand an explanation as to how and why he has been barred from running." Who are the Fifa candidates? EnderbyFox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I don't know anything about Tokyo Sexwhale but it sounds like a Japanese translation for Moby Dick, he gets my vote.
Wymsey Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Not bothered. Person who gets it bound to have a past negatively viewed by the press.
AKCJ Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 As long as it's not Platini or Champagne i'm not too bothered.
davieG Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Sepp Blatter: Russia 2018 World Cup 'agreed before vote' Suspended Fifa president Sepp Blatter has suggested there was an agreement in place for Russia to host the 2018 World Cup - before the vote took place. The 79-year-old told Russian news agency Tass of a "discussion" in 2010 about future World Cups. He added a late swing in voting that gave Qatar the 2022 World Cup undid a similar agreement to hand it to the US. The Swiss is serving a 90-day ban alongside Uefa chief Michel Platini. Both men deny any wrongdoing. Asked whether it was a mistake to hold voting for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments simultaneously, Blatter replied that before the ballot: "It was agreed that we go to Russia because it's never been in Russia, eastern Europe, and for 2022 we go back to America." The bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments is the subject of an ongoing Swiss criminal investigation. It was begun alongside a US inquiry following the arrest and indictment of several top executives by the US Department of Justice on corruption charges. In a wide-ranging interview, Blatter, who will be replaced as head of world football's governing body at an election on 26 February, also said: Russia will "never" lose the 2018 World Cup England are "bad losers" over perceived media criticism of the 2018 and 2022 Word Cup bidding process Most national football associations "don't like" Uefa-backed Fifa presidential candidate Gianni Infantino His own current suspension is a "total nonsense" and the Fifa ethics committee has failed him English Football Association chairman Greg Dyke says the governing body will investigate Blatter's revelation that there was a pre-vote agreement to hand the 2018 World Cup to Russia. The FA spent £21m, including £2.5m of public money from local authorities, on England's failed bid to host the 2018 tournament. Dyke, giving evidence to the UK Parliament's Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said it would be "very nice" to get that money back. 'An anti-Fifa virus'Blatter said it was "his dream" for his ban to end in time to conduct the February congress when the election to replace him with one of seven candidates will take place. He also admitted he should have stood down after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but stayed because of concerns that Uefa, European football's governing body, would become too dominant within Fifa. "The other confederations were afraid that Uefa would take over everything because they have the money and the players," said Blatter. "Uefa has an anti-Fifa virus." More on Fifa's corruption crisisProfile: Who is Sepp Blatter? Who could replace Blatter? Blatter-Platini payment a 'conflict of interest' Fifa candidate Sheikh Salman: Torture claims are 'nasty lies' Fifa corruption crisis: Key questions answered Blatter, Valcke, Platini suspended Platini disputeUefa president Platini was the target for most of Blatter's criticism, with the Frenchman accused of being motivated by "envy and jealousy". The two are currently suspended while Fifa investigates a £1.35m payment made to Platini in 2011, which the pair say was for work he did as Blatter's adviser. "At the beginning it was only a personal attack - it was Platini against me," said Blatter. "He started it, but then it became politics and when it is in politics, it is not any longer Platini against me. "It is then those who have lost the World Cup - England against Russia. They lost the World Cup and the USA lost the World Cup against Qatar. He added: "Platini wanted to be Fifa president but he did not have the courage to go as the president and now we are in such a situation in football." A spokesman for Fifa's ethics committee investigatory chamber told BBC Sport it was "reading with interest" Blatter's comments but declined to comment further. Meanwhile, the former head of Brazilian football, Jose Maria Marin, 83,has agreed to be extradited from Switzerland to the US to face corruption charges, Swiss authorities say. He was among seven Fifa officials arrested at a Zurich hotel in May after they were indicted by the US on corruption charges.
RonnieTodger Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Jesus, they all seem like trustworthy fellas.
Darkon84 Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Looking at those candidates, not a single one of them fills me with any confidence whatsoever. I can imagine every single one of their names in a corruption headline. Surely the whole organisation needs a breath of fresh air, someone new to revolutionise the entire thing and give people confidence again. Tokyo Sexwale tho He sounds like he's on his way to battle Godzilla.
Dr The Singh Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Where's Keith Vaz, surely he would fit in with this lot?
