SystonFox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Wouldn't be going for the green stuff. Yeah sure I've not been myself but I'm told its a really nice place with plenty to see and do. And that's not just the red light district
Samilktray Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Going in July so would appreciate tips on what to see, what to do and where to eat. And i will be high.
ScouseFox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 i will be high. get a bike try not to crash it. also known as mission impossible. in fact get high and just walk round and try not to be fvcking ran over by a bike. equally as impossible.
Strokes Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Amsterdam is a decent place, I have spent alot of time there. It looks great value but its not exactly a cheap city once you are there. I'm not really into the weed these days but it was far superior to the home stuff back then, I wouldn't know how it compares now.

Fox92 Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 I want to go Ajax and see their museum. Must be so good.

It's those bloody mopeds bombing past you on the cycle paths, should be on the roads. I did a Sandemans tour which was great, and you should see Anne Frank's house (although I don't think it's all it cracks up to be.) Red Light District is a must - not much is better than sitting with a group of friends with a beer while watching people walking up to the prozzies and treating it like a business deal. Great place Amsterdam, I'll hopefully be going back in June. Everyone's happy, which sounds odd until you've been there and seen it for yourself.
ozleicester Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Amsterdam was oK, but not one of my fave trips. The river crusie is pretty good you see a whole lot and learn a bit, the Reijkessen(sp) Museum is great, the red light district is interesting if your into that sort of thing but its only a relatively short stroll. Anne Frank etc. also an interesting couple of squares and there is a litle "women" only village square, an interesting story and place. the green stuff is very good and was a great way to enjoy it legally and safely. Bloody bikes!
pSinatra Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Love the place & have been about a dozen times. Only ever been with mates or on stag do's. Never really done anything culturally stimulating. I know the place well but haven't the foggiest where Anne Frank's house is? (& not arsed about knowing either) Piece of piss to get around & the Dutch seem a friendly bunch. Probably not far off London prices for beer & stuff & there's bikes everywhere! The the weed isn't cheap but it's good. One of the best ways to see the city is to hire a small motorboat & twat about on the canals. Just don't take a shitload of mushrooms & nearly end up in the North Sea

Hollism Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 Went last year for a weekend. You don't have to smoke weed, but the red light district has to be seen. Even if you just spend an hour walking around, it's an absolutely surreal experience. Plenty of nice bars too. I didn't do any of the museum stuff so can't help you there, but there are a good few

Is it any good or is it overhyped?? £129 for 2 nights including flights hotel and brekky Went with the mrs a few years back, we were lucky though as the weather was amazing and really made the trip. Beautiful city, definitely go on the river cruise. See Anne Franks house (go early or late), plenty of museums if that's your thing, or just the Van Gough museum if you want to see a few famous bits and pieces. Red light district obviously (bit weird especially when with your mrs ha). Just have a browse through tripadvisor at the top attractions and see what takes your fancy.
Webbo Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 The river cruise, rijks museum and Anne Frank's house are all worth seeing if you're into that kind of thing. The missus liked shopping at C&A as well. Have a meatball sandwich.
Buzzell Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 How much is weed over there ? How much is a sh*g over there?
ealingfox Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 Restaurant - De Schutter Coffeeshop - Amnesia (get a milkshake at least if not smoking) or the Greenhouse Bar - Lost In Amsterdam Museum - Rijksmuseum (also found Anne Frank house a bit disappointing but still worth a look). If the weathers decent walk around Vondelpark, really nice in there and theres often stuff going on.
ealingfox Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 How much is weed over there ? Depends on how much you want and the strain. A gram (2 or 3 joints worth) on average is between 8 and 20 euros.
walkerleeds Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 Amsterdam is so good. Thought I was going to die on the first night after eating 3 space cakes in 10minutes- got over that though and had a class time.
Darkon84 Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 I'll be there next week for a mates stag do, so any good tips for bars would be welcome. Particularly if anyone knows any decent clubs or something. I'm sure we'll find something, but it's always handy to go in there with a bit of prior knowledge.
AndWhat? Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 Went for a week with the mrs a couple of years ago an absolutely loved the place.
Unabomber Posted 10 March 2015 Posted 10 March 2015 Only been there once with my dad on the way back from another part of holland, safe to say he was thoroughly disgusted and I wanna go with mates.
