CosbehFox Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Mason is bang chuffing average. Sideways, sideways. One of the few midfields our chuffing powderpuff bunch have outcompeted (see Spurs at home). You haven't read my statement right. 'He doesn't deserve it anymore...' Personally I would have called up another left back.

You haven't read my statement right. 'He doesn't deserve it anymore...' Personally I would have called up another left back. Whenever I've seen him Mason has been anything but "sideways, sideways, sideways". He gives the ball away quite a lot because he so often looks to pass forwards. He also fackin' rans araand a bit so will probably become a horrendous hybrid of Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard (bad bits of both obviously).
Fox in the North Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Danny Rose has dropped out now. These left backs are dropping like flies! Maybe Hodgson knew something we didn't...
ousefox Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Doesn't one of our younger players play for the Lithuania national team or am I making that up?
eye666 Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Doesn't one of our younger players play for the Lithuania national team or am I making that up? Stankevicius?
ousefox Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Stankevicius? Yeah that's it. No idea if he's a starter or anything. Been on loan at Nuneaton apparently
Steven Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Stankevicius? http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/26/lithuania-simonas-stankevicius-leicester-city-england-euro-2016-qualifier

Ric Flair Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Let's hope he scores and then get's lobbed in vs West Ham and bangs a hat-trick in and nuts Pearson
lgfualol Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 I hope he starts. That Ladbrookes writer certainly rates him.

Spot on, he's the opposite of sideways and why he was so successful when he broke in. The only one of our midfield players that wants to drive forward and is constantly looking ahead of him.
Leicesterpool Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 WTF has Luke Shaw done to get in the squad?!? He's been useless all season! Typical Roy doesn't pick a player on form, he picks them because they play for a big club.
Leicesterpool Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Yeah that's it. No idea if he's a starter or anything. Been on loan at Nuneaton apparently Yeah remember briefly seeing him playing at the Boro, didn't see anything special in him though.
theadmans Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Slightly off topic I know but can someone tell me why in the current Group D Table :- Germany are in 2nd place with 7pts and a GD of +3 Whilst Republic of Ireland are in 4th place with 7pts and a GD of +7 ???? I have checked both the BBC tables and the official Euro 2016 tables and they are both the same ? I know this a bit pedantic but if I was Irish this would annoy me. Ireland are also below Scotland who have 7pts also and a GD of +1. Surely Ireland should be 2nd, Germany 3rd and Scotland 4th - or am I missing something here ?
Corky Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Is it head to head record first before goal difference?
theadmans Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 For UEFA tournaments, the first tiebreaker is results in head-to-head matches (1. points; 2. goal difference; 3. goals scored; 4. away goals scored), not overall goal difference. Be especially careful when three or more teams are tied on points, as the computation of their head-to-head tiebreaker is not straightforward (for example, team A have beaten team B, but team A can be ranked behind team B based on three-way tiebreaker also involving team C). Actually regarding my previous post re: Position of Germany in the table - it would appear from the notes above it is more complicated that I thought ie. not just goal difference. Still can't get my head round it as Germany only drew 1-1 with Ireland and Ireland have scored more goals. Can someone cleverer than me please clarify this.

Consider it like a mini league with the three tied teams in it. Germany won 1 and drew 1, 4 points. Scotland won 1 and lost 1, 3 points Ireland drew 1 and lost 1, 1 point.

OK thanks very much - understand now (although to be honest I think straight goal difference would be much easier for people to understand).
kingcarr21 Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 OK thanks very much - understand now (although to be honest I think straight goal difference would be much easier for people to understand). It would be easier but could you imagine what it would be like for minnows like San Marino. Every team would intentionally go out to destroy them to get there goal difference up. Wouldnt be much of a spectacle for the San Marino fans if they were losing by double figures every game (although there not far off that at the moment anyway)
Dan Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 To be fair it's not much of a spectacle conceding 7 at home to the likes of Poland.
Webbo Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 01 Hart 02 Clyne 06 Jones 05 Cahill 03 Baines 04 Henderson 08 Carrick 11 Delph 09 Welbeck 10 Rooney 07 Sterling Stankevicius is on the bench for them.
ScouseFox Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 henderson/carrick/delph has to be one of the worst england midfield threes for what, decades? ever? in a competitive game at least. and that's coming from someone who is a big fan of hendo.
purpleronnie Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Insane that we're not starting the one player on fire at the moment.
