RizLCFC Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Disappointed by this somewhat. Hopefully we ask for too much and he leaves on loan instead, bangs the goals in and comes back to us a better player. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet. ballso Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 He'll be well down the pecking order here, especially when Campbell and Ulloa come in. Not sure I'd want to see us sell him though, a loan move somewhere would suit us, as he's still young and can improve.

Mark Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 It was only a few seasons ago he scored 20+ goals, doesn't that automatically equate to a big money transfer?
Babylon Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 It was only a few seasons ago he scored 20+ goals, doesn't that automatically equate to a big money transfer? Not when we are the selling club, has to be a loan as a few goals banged in elsewhere and he's worth a lot.
Ric Flair Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Not when we are the selling club, has to be a loan as a few goals banged in elsewhere and he's worth a lot. £7 million if he gets 14 next season?

Costock_Fox Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Makes sense to me. We are trying to recoup the Ulloa fee by selling a player that isn't good enough for our first season in the prem. Remember we have ambitions to become and established Premier League team and Wood just doesn't cut it at the minute.

He is young and talented and will hopefully be a major contributor in years to come.
Maggie71 Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 The rumours are strong on the Brentford forum that he is going on loan to them?!
RowlattsFox Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 It's a shame because I like him but his all round game is not good enough. He barely started in the championship so he's not going to play in the prem. best for him that he moves on.
ARM1968 Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Wood can score, has quality and is very young. I think it would be a great shame and probably a mistake to sell him. A loan does no one any harm, keeps the lad tied to is and could help boost his confidence and value. Right now we'd get nowhere near what we could. I like the lad and hope we keep him. Banks Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Loan him out to Brentford. Please don't sell him...
cc_star Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 When Wood plays the rest of our team suffered Our whole teams game was built around two forwards who chased every lost cause, gave every ounce of energy they had This is reason why pacey Dyer leaving, replaced with Albrighton and arrival Ulloa concerns me. It's not the change of players, it's the forced change of style on rest of the team Anyway, back on topic hopefully just a loan but with Ulloa & Campbell arriving he's 5th in line for a start and 5th in line for 2 spots should be someone from the development squad, but because of Woods age a loan would be best for us & him
AKCJ Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Loan him to Wolves and go from there, he's well under contract isn't he?
Robin JD Popley Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Would be massively disappointed if we sell him, but I don't think Nigel would have gone out on a limb 18 months ago for his signature if we didn't have some long term plan with him. Remember, he is still only in his early 20s, has already shown glimpses of the player he will be in his prime so to sell him would be a mistake. However, loaning people to Brentford hasn't ended badly before... Liam Moore anyone?

Micky Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 A good championship centre forward in the right set-up. He doesn't suit our style and he would certainly not fit into the game we will be playing in the premier. He needs a fresh start at another championship club. I don't think he will ever have the attributes to be a Premier league player.

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 Surely got to be a loan deal. Selling him at this age would be silly unless it was an exceptional offer
sphericalfox Posted 19 July 2014 Share Posted 19 July 2014 I think it was inevitable that Wood was going out on loan this season. I'd be surprised that he'd be sold, we're not desperate for cash, and like it has been mentioned before, a good loan spell will increase his price if the intention is to get some profit. Hopefully we will find him a club where he can flourish, as given a proper chance I'm certain he can put some goals in, and hopefully return with confidence and join us with a potential place in the team on his agenda.
