West Ham (Home) - Post Match Thread 2 - 1

Amazing to see there are fewer than half the number of comments in the post match thread after a really important win, compared to after the Hull game. Says a lot.

Human nature. Folk love a good moan.

People are saying we got lucky today but on the whole, I think we deserved to win. West Ham hit the post, thats the only bit of 'luck' we got. Kasper making good saves isn't luck, it's having a good goalkeeper.

The way we won today for me is more pleasing than Man United. Yeah, that was a brilliant performance. But those last 5 or 6 minutes we really dug in and defended really well apart from Jeff for the goal for the entire game. We attacked with intent and thats provbably the best thing about today.

A great performance this afternoon however it could have been even better if we'd took our chances, I don't like criticising Mr Phillips as an attacking coach but for some reason this season we don't half miss a few. Though we were up against a strong experienced defence, attacking wise for west ham I thought they look quite poor and I can see why they're on this poor run of form recently.

For Leicester though were simply outstanding, first that cracking goal from Cambiasso (the goal of the season). Then could have been two if Nuge had put a lot more power in his penalty. Our defence were caught out by West Ham equalizer though to be honest our defence look a lot more comfortable this afternoon. Going into the second half it was same as the first with it being an end to end thriller, however Leicester looked like the most likely to score, however we just couldn't put away our chances. Finally it came by Andy King's late winner, another of Pearson's subs in fact for once Pearson got his tactical changes right.

Wow can't leave this thread without giving huge praise about Vardy!, that man was everywhere it's just a shame he didn't get the goal he deserved. Also Cambiasso aswell put in an cracking performance.

Brilliant day, very exciting, open game. Could've gone either way - both sides were wide open at times - but we deserve a bit of luck and things swung for us today. I thought Nugent's miss would be the killer - took the wind out of our sails as Kasper said - but we came back strong in the second half and could've scored 4 or 5.

Poor finishing has cost us before and will cost us again but today we rode our luck and a much needed 3 points. Rocking atmosphere too  :scarf:

Crowd was excellent today, really up for it from the start and the support towards the end was as good as it's been for a while at the KP.

Fans certainly backed the team today.

Not much credit for Pearson despite his bold 3 subs all having a good impact, proves that we do have a plan B. Added to that he did well to lift them at half time considering we were on the ropes towards the end of the first half.

You're actually moaning about the substitution that won us the game. Wow.

Morgan is a better defender than de laet which we needed if only playing with 3 at the back

So you think Wes Morgan is a better right back than RDL because that's pretty much where he played

This involved him having the ball in the right back position a few times and that memory will keep me awake tonight

Maybe MOTD will change my mind

I think the most important thing about today is the psychological aspect of passing that 20 point barrier. 19 points sounded a long way away and suddenly 22 makes it seem a lot closer. We need to go on a run, but with the games coming up we have the opportunity to do exactly that. Let's get the winning feeling back. It's going to be extremely tough. 35 points may be enough. That's 13 points from 8 games.

De Laet's replacement, King, tapped in the winner, that'll be the most prominent memory in my mind tonight.

De Laet played well but Pearson had to bring someone off. Morgan was needed for his aerial presence, same with Huth, Schlupp was the only left sided player in the team. Albrighton and the CMs were all heavily involved and the three strikers too. He had to gamble and it worked today.

I love it when Cambiasso has the ball, I feel so calm. so relaxed, I'm sure that my blood pressure goes down.

He just never gives the ball away.

Sheer class

Great Player

Modern day Alan Ball

Love 'im

Cambiasso, Captain in all but name.

Well said hopefully to persuade Esteban to stay another season or so,Nigel will hand the armband to this truly amazing legend of a footballer !!

I am drunk so I apologise but that was such a good feeling when King scored, for a moment it felt like everyone forgot where we were in the table and it was just such an incredible feeling! I've missed that so bad. Atmosphere was awesome today, I like those clapper things we should have them for the remaining games. Only negative for me was Ulloa, thought he didn't hold the ball up well and gave it away too much, would like to see Kram, Nuge and Vardy against WBA, think they could cause chaos.

Vardy is always exciting when he gets the ball and Cambiasso was very good today, loved his reaction to the crowd at the end. Enjoy everyone, let's hope this continues.

balancing out everything good today was Wes Morgan. I'm sorry but he is appalling, carved up at will and often created West hams best chances for them

Just watched the full replay - take the 3 points anyway you get them. A couple of obs:

Cannot afford to miss penalties in our postion and we should have been 2 up inside 20 mins which clearly changes whole games.

First Half frustrating where both teams controlled for large patches.

Second half good - we really should have won comfortably with our chances however they had some decent chances too including our luck re them hitting post.

Mahrez when he starts attacking the box and trying to turn defenders inside out he then gets confused IMO as to whether to shoot, cross or one more inside out move?

Good subs today by NP.

Congrats AK first PL goal. Now scored league goals in all top 3 tiers.

If David Nugent and Jamie Vardy could finish we'd have a very good chance of staying up. Their general play is essential to our game and we cause teams a lot of problems until they're faced with goal scoring chances. They've got to be more clinical in these final 8 games because defensively we always look like conceding at least one goal a game so we have to put a few away.

Vardy looks full of confidence at the minute though so a goal next week at West Brom and I can see him really doing some damage for us in this final push.

Cheers mate was a good game eh? But shocked by quite how direct West Ham are these days. Certainly not the academy of football at the moment but I can see how effective it is. Collins surprised me with how good he was at the back for you.

Cup tie atmosphere required and that's what happened.

City need to realise we are poorer than the rest of the division. So you need to make games like a cup tie where you up the tempo and use momentum. We did that today in the first twenty minutes and then for a long spell in the second. If you allow yourself to drop towards the oppositions pace of the game, we are in trouble. Play a team like West Ham on their holidays, they just don't wanna up the workrate if you play at 100 mph.
