Fox Ulike Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 He might be silly... but bullying FFS. He asked a grown man if he's a frigging Ostrich Well bullying is in the intent to bully, not in the reaction. Anyhoo, symantics. The worst thing about it is that he has tried to bully a grown man by calling him an ostrich!! The worst bit for me was the “What’s ‘erm’…?” question. How embarrassing! Reminded me of some of the dipstick teachers I used to have in school. Pearson had pretty much restored his reputation over the last few games. I actually thought he did himself a lot of favours during the game last night with the mutual respect him and Jose displayed to each other. To then start another bizarre rant like that simply because he didn’t have an answer to the journos question… Pearson hasn’t got enough self-control or self-awareness.
Babylon Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Bullying ffs - the guy asked a stupid question and got a stupid answer, that's it. Some of you lot must be utter melts to consider that bullying. To be fair, I don't think the question itself was stupid. But again, unless you know the bigger pictures and what's been said and gone on in previous press conferences it's hard to judge. People were quick to castigate Pearson when he called the other bloke a ****, but after Rob Tanner gave context to the whole situation I think it shed a different light on it. What looked like an innocent comment was actually a reference to something that had gone on before and he knew what he was doing. Pearson is just a prickly bugger and not a people person. Well bullying is in the intent to bully, not in the reaction. Anyhoo, symantics. The worst thing about it is that he has tried to bully a grown man by calling him an ostrich!! I can't work out if you are being serious or not.
Fox Ulike Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I could understand the furore if the journalist in question had stated/tweeted he was genuinely upset/"shook up" by the incident, but he's not. Far from it, in fact. Thinking on it; A) things like this are always going to be made a meal of. It's something out of the ordianry that was videoed with journalists present and with a lot of non-Leicester fans not keen on NP (seemingly) it's great clickbait for them. B) Football fans like to have their say, however deluded, uneducated and lacking in knowledge the comments are. Yeah but the problem is that the journalist is joking about it. He's laughing at Pearson. I can't work out if you are being serious or not. Erm, serious.
David Guiza Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Just noticed Neil Custer, of The S*n, called him rude and pathetic. The irony of which was a little too much.
The Doctor Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 To be fair, I don't think the question itself was stupid. I can't work out if you are being serious or not. I'd say it was - it's like Stringer asking what specifically they've said that's negative. A lot of the press - local radio in particular have had the knives out for him and his "favourites" for a while: it's difficult to have missed the criticism from the press.
ronnup Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Pearson is far from stupid and he's a pragmatist. I'd not be surprised if he was doing this as a performance to keep the press talking about him and take the pressure off the team. It's working.
davieG Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 What's so bizarre about calling someone an Ostrich you think is being ignorant I thought it was standard fare for that if a tad dated?
Babylon Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 What's so bizarre about calling someone an Ostrich you think is being ignorant I thought it was standard fare for that if a tad dated? I don't think it was the comparison with an Ostrich, more the was he phrased it. Going on about not being able to get his head in the sand, then saying "I can". ha.

Mike Oxlong Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Nige and the journo to leave their jobs and start a tribute act to Rod Hull and Emu - 1000/1 on Paddy Power
davieG Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I don't think it was the comparison with an Ostrich, more the was he phrased it. Going on about not being able to get his head in the sand, then saying "I can". ha. Maybe but everywhere I look the emphasis is on the Ostrich bit being bizarre with pictures of ostriches and people with their heads buried in the sand. I tend to think like others that Pearson was just pre-empting any player criticism as I'd not seen any in the media only on here, this is something he's been doing all season. But i guess the media is insatiable in pursuit of a story. I doubt this would have made any sort of stir if it wasn't for his previous and that we were playing the Champions elect, Chelsea
lgfualol Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 So annoying that's it always front page news whenever it's Pearson. Yet Mourinho, Van Gaal, Redknapp, Sherwood etc can all react "arrogant" but nobody looks twice... I saw the press conference, didn't think much to it, a stupid question and Pearson reacts before "storming out". Happened thousands of times. So true. If it was Sherwood everyone would be like #lad. When it's Pearson he's called a bully.
Steven Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/30/nigel-pearson-rant-full-leicester
indierich06 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Official interview transcript: Pearson: What country are you from? Journo: Erm? Erm? Er - ? Pearson: "Erm ain't no country I've ever heard of. They speak English in Erm? Journo: Erm… Pearson: English, mother****er, do you speak it? Journo: Yes! Yes! Pearson: Then you know what I'm saying? Journo: Yes! Pearson: Describe what an Ostrich looks like! Journo: Erm? Pearson: Say 'erm' again. Say 'erm' again, I dare you, I double dare you mother****er, say erm one more Goddamn time!

Yet Mourinho, Van Gaal, Redknapp, Sherwood etc can all react "arrogant" but nobody looks twice... I saw the press conference, didn't think much to it, a stupid question and Pearson reacts before "storming out". Happened thousands of times. That's cos Mourinho, Van Gaal etc don't make themselves look like dickheads by asking reporters if they are ostriches! Mourihno knows how to play the media to his best advantage, but Pearson gets played. He just falls into the same traps over and over again. Mourinho makes people laugh. Pearson makes people laugh at him.

Pearson is losing the plot. Why not just ask where the criticising was coming from and then take it apart. Unless Mourinho or Nige himself is criticising the players it does not add up to much.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Another loss and another headline story about pearsonAnd the papers all talk about it and not the playersTop stuff from pearson give that man a medal!!!!! Top class rant and funniest thing i seen all week xD
Bayfox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Seems the national media think this has legs and could run and run.
filbertway Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Until Saturday anyway. I love how something explodes and it's all anyone cares about until the next interesting thing happens.
