Could really do with him ready to play right now, someone not afraid to get stuck in..... Yeah he's not the answer But hopefully might get a kick against Walsall in the whats the point cup this week.
suffolk fox Posted 7 November 2016 Posted 7 November 2016 Fatty James really? We really are struggling if we think he is the answer. Before people start saying yes he kept Drinkwater out of the team when we were in the Championship no, Pearson didn't select him.
Wymsey Posted 7 November 2016 Posted 7 November 2016 It's quite the wrong time to get him playing, even a few minutes. Whenever he returns on the pitch it'd feel strange for him having rarely played this year and getting to grips with what is expected from both him the the demands of the PL. Loan him to a decent club like Brighton, I'd suggest.

Actually he was in the team throughout our return to the Premier League playing alongside Cambiasso when Drinky was on the bench. Cambiasso was the reason Drinky wasn't playing. Matty James is a quality player and would be ahead of Kingy and Amartey if he was fit.

He will never be the same player again I think that's obvious he's either finished or will spend the rest of his time in the lower leagues been out too long with too many setbacks. Who else do you rember that has been out as long as him and come back a better player than he was before which is what would need to happen for him to get anywhere near the team? Sad but true.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 I do struggle to see him making it at this level with the problems he's had, and should it go again I'd worry for his career. Still all he can do is get his head down do his best to be the best he can and who knows maybe he can get back to the level he was at. It'll be interesting to see if he plays tonight.

Wymesy I thought the loan window was shut even for championship clubs.
foxy boxing Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 help us MJ1, you're are only hope. the foxes alliance needs you to help defeat the premier league alliance
Ted Maul Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 If we get James and Mendy fit, we would actually have some good options in CM. Big if with Matty though- 18 months is a long time to lose at a key stage of your development, and there's always a question mark over whether players with ligament injuries will ever fully recover.

dannythefox Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 Jesus, I don't know if he'll get another chance for us but at one stage he was playing better for us than Drinkwater was. Then they played together and looked really good they know each other inside out which is what you need in midfield. People have short memory's.
EnglishOxide Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 Does anyone know the actual situation with him? I've seen pics of him in training but is it not full training? Is he not playing in development/u23 games?

Don't think he has done a full 90 yet. I fear at least two months before he is in contention and that assumes no further set backs. Would love him to start in the FA Cup and be able to play in the second half of the season
filbertway Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 There's going to be massive question marks over his fitness. I think a move to a league one team would be best for him in January. He needs game time and I could see him being a bit part player for most championship teams. It'd be great if he could get half a season under his belt and start to show some of the form he was for us under Pearson. You don't want to write him off as there may still be a player in there, but equally, showing loyalty to players that aren't at the level we need is just a waste of money and a squad place.
funkyrobot Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 Sylofox i know Cambiasso didn't play in the championship ffs.

pazzerfox Posted 8 November 2016 Posted 8 November 2016 James would have developed similar to Drinkwater had he remained fit. Massive shame because he was playing very well before his injury. Reminds me of an Emre Can type player.

Ashley Posted 9 November 2016 Posted 9 November 2016 It is true about James being watched for a potential England call up when he done it against Southampton. Shame really I like Matty James if he could get back to full fitness he will be good for us but I can see him dropping to the Championship
