Matty James - Come Back Soon

Be interesting to see how good that DD/James partnership could be if he gets back to full fitness.

Real shame he's suffered setbacks, we could really do with him in the side at the moment!

Is it not looking like James won't be coming back? From the outside, it looks like a career ending injury, pretty much.

Not sure the injury itself is, as I think he keeps picking up different injuries by the sounds of it. But the longer it goes on the less likely it is he'll ever get back to our level. Which is sad as he was one of my favourite players, our record with him playing was always better than without... despite him never looking spectacular, his starts more than matched most of our other CM's.

What is our level?

I don't think I'd put him in the CL final in May, but when all of this DOES die down (and it will) - he'd surely be worth keeping no?

As I said, the longer it goes on the less likely he'll reach our level... Not because he wasn't good enough, but that his body isn't capable.

Our level is a mid table premier league team at the minute. If he can return the player he was I have no issue. But it's becoming less and less likely.

We are looking really light in the CM position. If DD or Amartey got injured right now we would be screwed. A fit Matty James would be a huge boost right now.

Don't think it will be a career ender as if he was going to be broken by the set backs he would have already. But while he was great for us he was never a world class player or a Top top prem player even, so even if he's lost that little bit of what he had then he could be miles off playing for us again. Shame really as he was one of my favourite players for us when he was fit.

He's still young enough to come back hopefully though.

Quoted as training with the squad on the previous page, but I have written him off myself. I'd love to be proved wrong but it's the hope that kills ya.

Meanwhile, Ranieri confirmed that midfielder Matty James has now completed a full week of training without pain, following injury, and although he won't be fit to play this weekend, he is closing in on a return to the first team.

Hope matty is the answer short term... he was leagues ahead of drinkwater at one point it seemed. and partnerships make teams and these boys have been playing together for about 15 years apparently. They know each other inside out.

Certainly can't rush him.

If we try to, runs the risk of having a potentially even worse injury.

But he has to absolutely seize any chance that arises for him.

 Well, talk of the devil...

I'm withdrawing my previous skepticism, due to the fact that I'm desperate for CMs, and also out of sympathy for what must be a horrible period for the lad.

He looks closer than Mendy, tbf.

But surely he was fit when he played for the u23's?

If CR didn't fancy him then would he now?

He got injured again after being with the u23s I imagine he'll play with them again for a bit

I think he was playing in the u23s to further his rehabilitation and get him closer to first team football, iirc he was set to come back in the league cup against Chelsea but got an injury against Sheffield Utd in the checkatrade which stopped this

Love to see him back. Still find it hard to believe people have wrote him off. 2 seasons ago he was a major player in our turn in form to stay up. He missed last season through injury yet people say he won't be at our level now.

How the fvck can people judge what level he is at without even seeing him. Yes he needs to get fit then match fit like any player. Then if any player deserves a chance Matty does.

Common Matty get fit get back and prove the doubters (that have not even given you a chance) wrong. Who knows he may even save us 30+mil.

he needs to get playing competitive matches to lose that extra bit of timber he has put on being out of the game.

Rated him very very highly and he was on the verge of an England squad call op when he got injured.

whether he can ever be that player again or perhaps better  ..........................

Right, any news on Matty? Could really do with him ready to play right now, someone not afraid to get stuck in.....

He's not the answer!
