Matty James - Come Back Soon

Recommended Posts

This is a guy that kept Drinkwater out of the first team a few seasons ago.

Hes had an injury - a bad one and may never be the same player again but I'd also not like to write him off if he has the desire still to make a come-back.

I'd send him out on loan now till Jan and see if he can regain his fitness and some form and go from there.

Derby would be my choice.

In a season where we were for the most part crap and at the foot of the table.

It's not as if Drinkwater and the other guys apart from James really delivered themselves at that time...

He wouldn't now though. Drinkwater is miles ahead of him.

I wouldn't bother with a loan, just sell him. He'll never play again if he keeps getting these little injuries when recovering from a major injury. As we progress we're bringing in better quality now.

Very sad for Matty. We have to remember that in the first season or so it was Matty who seemed to be the showing the potential ahead of Danny. Met him once and he was a very humble person. Must be every sportspersons worst nightmare this. Hope he recovers and and makes a decent career.

If you were being pedantic it was cambiasso that kept drinkwater out, James was the obvious foil to either of them, and did it brilliantly alongside DD, and him and cambiasso were probably the best of the very bad bunch October to March that season.

If he could get fit again I'd have him in there - steady ball winner and work horse in the promotion season. Not kante style but would be a decent replacement for him if he's still got it, although those ifs are getting bigger and bigger.

Just read this - sad to hear that Matty seems to be struggling to get back to fitness. I'm been looking forward to his return to action, and keeping my fingers crossed for him but it increasingly looks as if he may be done, at least at this level. At least he got a season in the PL if that's the case.

Sucks as the guy had a ton of ability and potential and seems to be a very hard-working and down to earth character who could have been a great future captain.

We need him now, more than ever.

Mendy's injured, Amartey shouldn't be playing Chelsea away and, Drinkwater/King combo never works.

Call this desperation, call James a crock, but there is a very good player in there. He needs his chance.

Good player but this would be the worst thing we could do to him.

If we thought he was ready he would have been out on loan. I've said it before but I fear for him.

Sadly, not going to happen for him here!

Very unfortunate that his season on the sidelines co-incided exactly with our 'stepping up' a level...!

At the time he was injured, MJ was very much a part of the squad that were doing what they did......Trouble is, the team have progressed massively since then, and Matty hasn't been able to be a part of the progression.

As a member of a team aiming for survival, (or at best mid-table), in the PL....(a-la LCFC 2014-15), then he could be regarded as an important team player, however, our MF options have improved dramatically in the last year or so. James,(at best), is now probably 5th or 6th choice in a 2 man midfield....Sentiment is fine, but injury can wreck the very best potential career.......Let go !

How times change...

If he was fit, then according to your post he would be an automatic choice now...

James  5-6th choice ( in your opinion)  . Even then he would be in my top top 3.

Now...if fit  bite your hand off.

Matty James if defo not the answer we need

Written off without even a chance to prove himself. Yet right now our only option is Andy King if things are not working or an injury.

I would rather if fit him given a chance before January so we can spend millions on 2 CB's and a RB.

Play him in the FA Cup etc. It'd take him a good while to adjust to the demands of the PL, and we're domestically not in a position to let give others opportunities that they badly need.

If you were beng pedantic I wrote 'a few seasons ago' Cambiasso wasn't here a few seasons ago.

He never kept drinkwater out the side besides that season, they were the partnership.

play him in the u-21's regularly to get him match fit and up to speed working with players of which some will be from the first team

Would only work in a 3 in front of the defence against tough teams. He's slow as **** (probably slower now he is fat), can't pass or shoot.

FFS, your post is just disrespectful to Matty.

Pace is not his asset but he's no carthorse. Plus he is strong, technically good and positionally good, likes a tackle and can certainly pass - in fact his passing is his strongest suit. His shooting is poor yes but better than Kanté's was!

Don't see any reason to be such a dick about a player who has always given his best and played well for us. I feel really sorry for him that his career at the top level looks to been ****ed up by injuries.

Matty started to come good before his injury. I remember many chances on goal he had he just couldn't hit a barn door lol

Really hope he still has a future. His injury has ruined him but always thought he was a good player who struck a half decent partnership with Drinky. Would love to see him back on the pitch in a Leicester shirt. Would certainly help our midfield out
