Think the point about transport is valid and likely to be a concern for the council.

Come to think of it, nearly all 40k+ grounds in England are located in areas with more substantial transport links...

The city has had both Tigers and LCFC playing on the same day in the past which has meant over 40k supporters in the area but the Police don't like it and would be likely to lobby against regular 40k+ sporting attendances.

If we are to expand they really need to look at the transport issue.

More and more streets are planned to be  made residents only in the area around the ground, off Aylestone Rd, which is fair enough but they need to come up with some alternatives for match day.

It's chaotic now an increase of a third would bring meltdown.

A new stadium would inevitably mean an out of town industrial estate location. absolutely horrendous.

The club needs to come up with some serious sugar coating to any plans for expansion particularly with respect to travel and parking, like the railway, which I've mentioned numerous times on here a multi-story car park that could be used by the hospital on non-match days or subsidising match day park & ride in order to push through any expansion

I'm sure there could be a few solutions, park and ride for example

What sort of "businesses" would they want to locate next to the stadium?

Don't really mind an increase to the club's own hospitality/conference facilities - but that quote seems to imply putting separate hotels/bars, etc. next to the ground.

Not really been a huge fan of the KP, but at least it has the redeeming feature of being a football ground rather than a business park.

Someone who knew about us buying the land said we'd also got the nearby hotel to turn into a casino.

I think I read that West Ham had sold 50000 season tickets for next season; an unbelievable number.

If we had a huge stadium in place for next season, how many season tickets do people on here think we could realistically expect to sell?

There seems to be a problem re P & R it was part of the planning approval for the current stadium that LCFC should have a P&R it never got off the ground.

If I remember correctly they couldn't find / agree suitable parking areas and there would need to be a few to catch all the various ways in. It would also need to be heavily subsidised to entice people certainly cheaper than the current car parking prices.

I doubt even the existing public transport does anything significant to reduce the use of the car.

I'd consider using it myself which is fine on the way in but 30-40k people all leaving at the same time makes it very unattractive.

Depends on pricing. If they get it right like West Ham did, there's no reason we couldn't sell 35K+

Don't forget West Ham have been given a stadium for peanuts (at our expense) so they were able to lower their prices and entice more in.

West Ham only got the stadium for "peanuts" because the London Legacy organistation backed themselves into a corner which left the West Ham deal as the only viable one.

Cheap prices and the novelty of a new stadium has enticed punters in. Question is, will they all still be there in two or three seasons time?

The last thing I want to happen is to ruin the current atmosphere. We the twelfth man have been so important.

If rebuilding part of the ground is going to take a whole season this would have a negative impact at an important time.

We can't play champions league with a big hole in the side of the KP.

I want a slightly bigger stadium but I'm also against a move.

I'm sort of hoping that after this euphoria has died down a little next season and some people will have quenched their thirst for glory; membership seats will again become available.

Perhaps at this point I am changing my vote from ASAP to let's properly plan to rebuild into something unusually spectacular.

I think a good example is the Victory Parade where personally there were 7 of us travelling in together from Meynells Gorse and after the parade (admittedly we left slightly early because of young children) we managed to get back out of the City and home in less than 1 hour

I'm sure it's doable with some assistance and assurance from all parties necessary

For me, if the stadium was expanded to 45k, I'd say we'd average 38-40k fans per home game. We'd at least get 35k I'd have thought. Not forgetting away supporters too who usually sell around 3k.

For the games against Man Utd, Arsenal etc we'd probably sell out. But in general I think we could sell up to 10k more seats than we are now.

I think their pricing structure is down to the fact they realised they were making so much money from TV they could charge those prices and still make a shit tonne of money.

Many of them at at £250 a pop ! , fair play to West Ham for making it affordable

Someone who knew about us buying the land said we'd also got the nearby hotel to turn into a casino.

A source of mine said around a year ago that the owners want to purchase the Holiday Inn on St. Nicholas Circle, and make it more luxiorious for their business partners/colleagues and their native guests to stay in. As it's central city and convenient.

The hotel apparently has a helicopter pad at the top, used for emergency use, something that they want.

They thought about buying the one next to the ground, but thought it was too small and the manager there wanted it to be just a place for visiting supporters on matchdays.

I think we will expand the KP to around 40k, the 2 mill donated by the owners to the hospital although extremely generous could be seen as a bit of a sweetener with regards to the planning application being passed

Blimey, buying a hotel in town with a helicopter pad? Reckon they could spend £20K to sort Filbert Street out?  lol

Isn't that how business is always done? It's not what you know, but who you know.

Truth is, no one on here knows anything yet despite all the ITK posters, they might be planning it now, they might not, until it's in the media everything is speculation.

Expansion yes, move to a new ground, 100% No from me.

Just a little update for everyone on this, the plan is no longer to have the family stand and east stand expanded its due to be the east stand only with an additional capacity of 15,000 taking the capacity to around 47,000 depending on the match day restrictions. The land has been purchased by the club behind the east stand as many of you will have probably guessed from the activities put on before the Everton match. I think there is a little concern planning will not be granted due the impact around the ground on traffic etc. If this does become a big issue then I would expect thats when the owners will be looking at the possibility of relocating

An extra 15,000 on the East Stand  That's almost half of the current capacity. No thanks.
