James and Drinkwater was the partnership for most of the Championship title season. But James is obviously injured long term and Drinkwater hasn't adapted too quickly. King looked pretty good in the run-in, but I imagine if there's no Cambiasso we'll be looking at two new additions.

Finnaldo Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Tbf it seems like we have a few midfielders lined up, I'd imagine we'll sign at least one anyway but it seems Ranieri's looking in the right area at the minute. If he decides not to come back, then there's definitely a capable replacement or two in the pipeline.

Guest kristianity77 Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Our midfield at the moment without Cambiasso and without James is mid table championship stuff so it needs addressing soon or else this is going to to be another relegation threatened campaign which we will do really well to get out of. Defence has had a slight boost with Fuchs and attack also with Okazaki. But you're only as good as your weakest area, and our midfield currently is shocking.

BoyJones Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Nobody really played the position like Cambiasso. Nobody could. We often used to bypass midfield, hit a long ball to say Howard or used the pace of Dyer. I think we scored some decently worked goals from midfield under Sven, but the defence got found out. More solid and workmanlike under Pearson until the 102 point season when it all clicked from the QPR away game.
