filbertway Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Only saw him once and that was against Derby last week, very underwhelmed. Looked lazy and sloppy, certainly not better than anything we have. Lazy? He was working up and down the wing all night. Rowett wouldn't be playing him if he wasn't willing to put in a shift. It's clear to see he has some potential and I'd definitely welcome him. Would prefer a deal that means Birmingham are paid based on appearances he makes for us in case it didn't work out. I agree he's no better than we already have at the minute, but as an understudy he would be an exciting player to have in the ranks and have plenty of time to improve as a player.
johnny the fox Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 why worry about money our owners have the backing of the thai royal family... Therefore we are richer then man citys arab royal family owners. lol and the idea we are their number one priority is foolish.. last time I looked Thailand was under military rule....
Christoph Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 http://www.totalsportek.com/football/premier-league-prize-money-table-2015/ According to this we gained 70+ million from the last premier league season. No idea if it includes tv money or not but if its even half of that, then we have more than enough to throw 5-10 million at a player who could be very good.

Guest Col city fan Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I just don't think 10 mill is an awful lot of money anymore, in Premiership football. We've signed Kram for not far off that amount, and hardly ever play him. And he was an 'overseas signing'. If Gray is as good as people reckon, and we need him, then get him. The football market is its own thing. It's not bound by the normal rules of economics.
ScouseFox Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Can't wait for next year's pre-season tour of America so I can burst into 'Amartey In The USA' Hopped on the plane at LAX with my boots and my City shirt Welcome to the land of the foxes, am I gonna fit in? Playing centre back at the KP for the first time Look to my right and I see that Robert Huth's fine etc etc .. so we put r hands up were singing our song cos we love leicester cityyyy clapping clappers like yeah clapping clappers like yeahhhhhh we got our flags up we singing our songs we know we're gonna be okkkk with amartey an demarai gray
Dan Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Quite like the idea of signing him although agree that ten million is a bit steep. Saying that, at the same time, the laughable 'English premium' could well work in our favour should we ever end up wanting to sell him to a top club. I trust our scouts on this.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I'm sure Portsmouth fans were thinking just that when they were chucking the bills around like Sean Dyche.... I like to see us get good value Portsmouth was a shambles. Reckless in the extreme. There was no sense going into that club for a long long time. We aren't Portsmouth. And we aren't going to 'do a Portsmouth' by spending ten million on Gray. The two examples are poles apart.

Gerard Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I've never seen him play, I know he's very highly rated though but I haven't got enough information to determined what he's worth. What I will say though he is the perfect profile for us. We don't necessarily need someone to replace Mahrez or Albrighton as they're two of our best players but if one of them was to get injured we are struggling to replace them. A 19 year old with quality who can come on in the last 20 mins and cause problems for the opposition and who can start threatening to be in the first XI in 6 months is just what we need. In two years he might be that good we couldn't buy his quality so I'm all for buying potential and Gray is exactly that.

No idea if it includes tv money or not but if its even half of that, then we have more than enough to throw 5-10 million at a player who could be very good. And of that money we spent £20m+ on players, along with promotion bonuses (£10m), bonuses to stay up (£5m+), agents fees, wages (probably £45-55m), general running costs etc etc etc. There is a reason most premier league teams still run at a loss or a very small profit.
TheSomersetFox Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Hoped we'd go in for him since i saw him score that hat trick last year. Really hope we can pull this off
Lesta Legend Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Portsmouth was a shambles. Reckless in the extreme. There was no sense going into that club for a long long time. We aren't Portsmouth. And we aren't going to 'do a Portsmouth' by spending ten million on Gray. The two examples are poles apart. AgreedMassive differences in the way Leicester operate now and Portsmouth were mis-managed then The relevant example being player recruitment. We clearly have a successful scouting network based around a stats (sabremetric) approach headed by a superb chief scout - Steve Walsh snr. As opposed to the Harry Redknapp approach, simply a poor comparison. And in all fairness to the club we usually target players who are approaching the end of their contracts and so it seems they get the balance right so the club do by in large get value for money. Although seemingly high for a young championship player, he's British and the market is highly inflated. He'll fit in with what we need and if he fulfils his potential.... I'd buy him, gerrim in !
kingfox Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 He is the reason Wasilewski isn't getting played, if Demarai wants to keep his health in check then he should turn us down.

lcfcsnow Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Kept a close eye on him on Friday against Derby, nowhere near ready for the step up.
matty98 Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I hate the idea of buying players based on what they could become, only bring in players if they are going to add something to the squad straight away which I doubt he will.
Thracian Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 As gambles go it looks realistic enough. And if we're convinced, we'll need the nerve to negotiate the right deal. All signings are a risk but this guy's young enough to show a return all round.
Finnegan Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I hate the idea of buying players based on what they could become, only bring in players if they are going to add something to the squad straight away which I doubt he will. ... Can you imagine if Barcelona took this approach?
Heymister2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 we need an option to cover mahrez and Albrighton! One of englands top young talents shouldn't go amiss
Gerard Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I hate the idea of buying players based on what they could become, only bring in players if they are going to add something to the squad straight away which I doubt he will. With that line of thought we wouldn't have signed Mahrez. The only way we can have top class players is to develop our own and that means buying players with potential.
