ramboacdc Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 I haven't listened or saw any post match feedback apart from Wrighty talking to Vardy on 606 on the way back from the game but i was just wondering what people thought was the main reason we were able to come from 2 goals down to win the game like that. I said to my mate who came with me that i think the main reason wasn't just the changes that we bought on,however seeing 3 attacking subs was a great sight to see, because to me it just was a bit like me on football manager "I'm 2 down? quick throw every attacker on and go down swinging. lose 4-0 or 2-1" sort of logic. In my opinion it was Sherwood/Villa showing they are not used to being in control of games and are unable to close games down. they did a bit of time wasting, the highlight being when the kop counted out loud to the goalie, and the ole's but they were just unable to keep the ball away from us. it seemed all basics went out of their play and they genuinely looked shocked and unable to play. i was just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on this at all?
Sir Fynwy Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 A combination of good replacements by CR and awful ones by TS handed us the initiative, CR has shown this season that he reacts to the situation in front of him (closing down games if we are ahead or going for it if we aren't) whilst TS put attacking players on in place of strengthening the middle and closing the game out.
kingcarr21 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 The biggest contributing factor was Sherwoods useless substitutions. That gave us more control in midfield which Kante bossed when he came on. Alot of contributions brought on the comeback but if Villa shored up their defence/midfield i doubt we would have took the 3 points.
Swarles Barkley Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 A bit of all four really but mainly sherwoods substitutions probably most beneficial. They completely lost their shape and had no "out" ball
maynefox Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Yes, a combination of all them. I voted for the Villa one. 2v0 up away from home, you have to see the game out. Sherwood is a moron. He blames the players, when really it was his inept tactics that cost Villa the game. Sure, he got his tactics right up until 2v0, but bringing on two strikers for "game time" is sheer arrogance and naivety. For sure, we have our "foxes never quit attidude". Most teams if they pull a goal back from 2v0 down will be hammering the opposition in order to find that equaliser. At West Ham, the Tinkerman's tactics, putting Kante in a 5 man midfield, shut West Hame completely down. Villa and Sherwood didn't do this. Indeed, the chnages made by Ranieri meant his experience and tactical awareness prevailed over the naive Buffoon, that is Sherwood.
Heymister2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Very simple! Goal line technology! No way the ref would of given it without and villa would of still been 2-0 up and see the game out! Having said that we were causing problems before villa scored the second
Captain... Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 It was our first goal, we had them under pressure, but if they had seen out the pressure straight after they scored they would have been ok, but they just couldn't cope with us and the first goal lifted us and the fans and just panicked them. When we got the first I felt we were going to win, it just seemed inevitable.

Having said that we were causing problems before villa scored the second i get this point but am i right in thinking that only the ref has the watch with it on? the linesman was running back to the centre before the ref even checked his wrist. I believe this would have been given.
Carl the Llama Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Our substitutions massively complemented our play by putting Ulloa up top drawing defenders, leaving more space for Mahrez and Dyer to exploit. Kanté joining up with Drinkwater made sure we had control of the middle of the park to push on from. In short Ranieri did exactly what he needed to do to give us the best chance possible of clawing it back. You felt that at 2-0 Villa probably had the winning tactic were they to bring Veretout on for the tiring Gil and Hutton for the abysmal Bacuna given how much we'd been dominating the half already til that point, yet for some reason here's what Tactics Tim decided to do: First he lightened their midfield by bringing Gil off for a forward which only compounded the effect of the subs we'd made a minute earlier by giving us even more room to play with. Then he watched as this masterstroke had no effect at all on proceedings and we inevitably scored the goal that had been coming all half. At this point he realises he needs to do something, the best thing would be to give some aid to the desperately overrun defence so he brings off his striker and sends on... another striker. Again he watches in fascination as this does absolutely nothing at all to address the Leicester onslaught and we go on to score the inevitable equaliser. Now he finally does something their fans had been calling out for all half and brings Bacuna off for Hutton. Unfortunately this still didn't address the space we had in the middle of the park which was exactly what Mahrez exploited to find room for that gorgeous little chip to Dyer, boom, game over, Ranieri drops the mic and walks offstage. Of course none of that would have even been a possibility without the incredible attitude our players show each week, nor the amazing support they get in return. Other teams would have rolled over there and/or their fans would have gotten on their backs regardless of tactics and substitutions. So all basically.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Mainly due to Sherwood being completely inept and the biggest fraud in the Premier League, imo.
yorkie1999 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Switching Mahrez from the wing to a free role and villa couldn't cope with him. I'm sure i read something where he said CR has been teaching him how to hide in a game so he doesn't get players targeting him later on in the game.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 The team spirit was a very key factor in the comeback and getting the win on Sunday. Even at 0-2 down the players heads didn't drop completely and I think that game really was the definition of Foxes Never Quit.

Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 There was some great analysis on Monday night football on sky. They showed the way villa attacked us, going for the 3rd goal and leaving gaping holes in the middle for Mahrez and Kante to exploit. When it was explained that way it was fairly obvious that villa tried to play football at us, rather than be solid and contain, and settle for what they had. I'm sure that the noise and support motivated the lads, the subs added to it too, but the outstanding change was Kante IMO. He exploited the space and epitomised the best of what we stand for currently, a never say die attitude from everyone at the club. I love being a city fan
Richard Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Moving Mahrez inside. He was being marked out the game first half, second half he had free-roam of the pitch and Villa literally couldn't stop him
Socks Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 CR changing players and positions and that never quit attitude we have!
coolhandfox Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Moving Mahrez inside and the introduction of Kante and Dyer, which gave us an injection of work rate and pace. Also Villa taking of Agbonlahor, which allow the back four to have more time on the ball and enable them to play further up the pitch without the worry of him getting in behind.
richardsfoxes Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Team spirit and never give up attitude.
General Smuts Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 A combination of good replacements by CR and awful ones by TS handed us the initiative, CR has shown this season that he reacts to the situation in front of him (closing down games if we are ahead or going for it if we aren't) whilst TS put attacking players on in place of strengthening the middle and closing the game out. I like that the correct answer was the first response. I've not bothered reading any more posts. The fact that Mahrez was moved into the middle and Dyer was much more help to De Laet defensively and then Kante coming on and grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck - so Ranieri's tactical changes - were the main reason. Sherwood on the other hand pissed away his substitutions.
Fox92 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Combination of a lot of things. Sherwood's substitutions were strange and Villa couldn't hold the ball.
