Doubt 'Watford' would sell but we should still test their resolve. Being a satellite club for Udinese makes me think they might cash in on their best players.

The Pozzos happen to own three clubs in three different leagues, but they're surely not simply "satellite clubs".

Watford's business in the summer has consisted of recruiting players from Hamburg (Behrami), Steaua (Arlauskis), Guangzhu (Diamanti), Tottenham (Capoue), Roma (Holebas), Wigan (Watson), Alkmaar (Berghuis), Cagliari (Ibarbo), Crystal Palace (Guedioura), Aké (Chelsea), Club Brugge (Oularé), Spartak Moscow (Jurado), Bremen (Prödl) and Napoli (Britos).

Just repeating the same ******* story over and over again doesn't make it more true. The loan system between one Pozzo club and another was more common in the past, but the model's been abandoned (for now). Get yer facts straight.

Falcao three years ago was probably the best centre forward in the world. He's got Torres written all over him now. It's sad watching him like this but we can't be sentimental here. He hasn't looked even close to that player who destroyed Chelsea in one half of the Super Cup. Massive no from me.

Pretty sure the entire objective of their system was to buy players cheap and sell them for big money. Alexis Sanchez being one of them. I think we could get him but he'd cost us a lot.

Let's just buy the Algerian national side!

Aïssa Mandi would be fantastic and fill an immediate need at RB. Brahimi, Slimani, and Feghouli are also fantastic.

I think we have to add genuine quality to the squad in January. We should - hopefully - still be in a good position, and we can sell the UCL / Europe dream to prospective signings. We are not far off the 40 points now and the owners will surely be getting their tv fortune next summer and there should be no reason not to invest. We should be looking at the 10 - 20 million bracket. Of course the issue could be disrupting the squad, but I don't believe this will be an issue as long as the right players are acquired. Definitely need a backup GK and a quality second striker / number 10. I think this will make all the difference. We'd be in serious trouble if Kasper got injured. Difficult window to get players in though. Ranieri's transfer record so far is very hit and miss - Benaloane not yet really proven and Inler not really suitable. Dyer looks a useful addition but I don't think he's played 90 minutes for us yet in all his substitute cameos!

I think now is the time to seriously strengthen the squad and add that one top quality player(s) to keep us up there.

We still need a top quality right back in my opinion, show the league we mean business.

Is Tony Hibbert still at Everton?

Christ, he'll be a fossil now.

Still think the best most likely target for us is Austin. We had a good sized bid turned down in the summer, but he'll only have 6 months left now, so...what's he worth now? January window price I would guess at £7-8M? If he can score over 20 goals playing for that shower of shit last season, he's show he's more than good enough. Inges is also a great player and he's only 23. He's only going to get better. If Liverpool don't want him, we could get him for around £6-8M. I would put a bid in for both of them. We are missing that kind of natural finisher that just seems to be there at the right time.

As others let's sign at least 1 Algerian (keep Mahrez happy) either feloughi fella or slimani. I'd also go for Trippier (unfortunately Simps is obviously a weak link)

That's what Austin was worth during the summer. No way should any club pay that much for him now.

Ings who's out for the season?!

Best thing about all this chat is that when the time is right our scouts will pluck a player out of nowhere who's better than anyone mentioned over the last 38 pages.

Ighalo would be a great signing. Think Austin would do a job. Inges is a decent shout. A classy number 10. Possibly a right back.

I'm not sure we'll sign anyone really unless Walsh has another Mahrez up his sleeve.

I can see the importance of showing faith in the squad we have. I just hope we don't fall a player or two short of something magical. This season could be our best chance of something sensational.

Would take a good £20M to make them think seriously, survival this season will be vital for them and he's key to it.

Would love him here though, he would suit our style perfectly.

I'd happily pay £15-18m for Ighalo. Offset some of that by selling Inler and Kram.

That kind of money is small change to clubs in the prem now. It's over £120million for 1 season so why would you sell your best player for 18m? Doesn't make sense. Premier league teams no longer need to be "selling clubs" due to the amount of money in the league

Agreed, Buying from Premier League Clubs is going to become very difficult with the big tv money, and I include teams wanting to buy from us. Best to look overseas and to the lower leagues, and with our scouting network, and manager well capable of integrating international talent, that's the way to go imo. .
