Dan Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Give the winner a CL spot. Only way you can save what this competition has turned into.
Fox92 Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Give the winner a CL spot. Only way you can save what this competition has turned into. Agree. I take it Manchester City play in the CL on Tuesday. Can see what he is prioritizing although lets be honest he's got more chance of winning the FA Cup than even playing in the CL Final.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 City don't play until Wednesday but they fly to Kiev tomorrow.
StanSP Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Man City could easily be out of the running of The F.A. Cup, The Champions League, The League Cup and The Premier League within 11 days. F.A. Cup (a) Chelsea Champions League (a) Dynamo Kiev League Cup (n) Liverpool Premier League (a) Liverpool. Just cos they may lose against Liverpool in the league doesn't mean they'll be out the title race. Stranger things have happened! And lack of games can work for them just as much as it can for us. Give the winner a CL spot. Only way you can save what this competition has turned into. Aren't they considering that too along with scrapping the replays? Agree. I take it Manchester City play in the CL on Tuesday. Can see what he is prioritizing although lets be honest he's got more chance of winning the FA Cup than even playing in the CL Final. Nope, Wednesday.
Dan Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 I honestly think Dynamo Kiev will knock them out.
Jimothy Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Give the winner a CL spot. Only way you can save what this competition has turned into. Thought Martin Samuel gave a very good argument against that on Sunday Supplement earlier, I'll try and find a video of it.
Voll Blau Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Seems Everton and West Ham are about the only clubs left taking it seriously. Fvcking joke. We could easily have won this competition.
StanSP Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Seems Everton and West Ham are about the only clubs left taking it seriously. Fvcking joke. We could easily have won this competition. Chelsea have a great chance too now that they seem to be in a bit of form.
Dan Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 To be honest there's no way it would happen anyway. My opinion was from someone who isn't a money man so it means nothing. It's pathetic but that's what happens when you combine lucrative competitions elsewhere and the sport being full of businessmen. It's sad that it would come to that anyway. Even then you'd still get them talking about qualifying for the Champions League as a bigger plus than winning a trophy, just like they do the Europa League. There's no way they would surrender a Premier League spot to the FA Cup anyhow. I know full well it isn't happening. The FA Cup is finished. It's pathetic watching it like this.
Corky Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Man City have been poor in their last two matches with a full strength team, who is to say this lot won't be an improvement today*? *Awaits comments back as the lose 4-0.
Samilktray Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 That Man City team sums up the FA cups importance now
ScouseFox Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Seems Everton and West Ham are about the only clubs left taking it seriously. Fvcking joke. We could easily have won this competition. chelsea have played very strong teams vs scunthorpe and mk dons. they will win it comfortably i think.

Ive got what i think is a good idea for FA Cup reform and i think it would improve the competition and get more of the big teams taking it seriously: 1) Premier League teams only enter the competition at round FOUR, and not round THREE. This aleviates the problem of the FA Cup 3rd round game at the worst possible time between the hectic period of christmas, the league cup semi finals, and midweek premier league games at that time. 2) When the draw is made, the draw is then seeded so a smaller team is GUARANTEED a bigger team, so for example, the team top of the Premier League is seeded to make sure they will play a league two team, not anyone higher. What i think this would do, is create several benefits for everyone: This ties in with my next point, but it will guarantee the small team a big payday as their reward for getting this far in the competition, rather than them drawing someone of the equivalent ability and beaing beaten and missing a big payday It should give the bigger team an opportunity, if they want to, to rest their bigger players to keep them fresh for more important competitions like the league and champions league. it should hopefully mean that the biggest games between premier league teams come at the end of the competition and not in the early rounds where we lose big teams. 3) When the draw is made, the lower team has the option of how the tie will be played. They can either: If drawn at home, they have the choice of a replay if the game finishes a draw to take them back to the bigger ground, OR they can request the game to be played at the bigger teams ground. If they choose the game to be played at the big teams ground, it has to be finished on the day, they are not entitled to a replay. This gives them the choice of what matters more, the money, or trying to win the game. It also rightly puts the advantage in the big teams favour, because the teams of league 2 level are competing FOR the payday, and not to win the FA Cup. The FA Cup however should absolutely NOT grant a champions league spot as a prize. Not unless all european leagues follow suit so there is uniformity in the way the places are granted. A team winning 6 games should not gain the prize over one that has played 38. These are my suggestions, im prepared to be shot down.
Harry - LCFC Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 I think you're damaging the FA Cup by making it seeded. It's not a fair competition if it's seeded too strongly.
Donut Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Looks like coin throwing is becoming popular. There aint half some ****** who go to football grounds.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 I don't think you're ready for kelechi
ScouseFox Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 at least west brom fans had a reason to throw coins, why ye lobbing coins at some 13 year old city academy player
Voll Blau Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Seeding wouldn't help. Part of the attraction is the fact big sides can go out early doors. Otherwise you might as well just sack it off and run a Super Cup with the top 16 teams.
Nalis Posted 21 February 2016 Posted 21 February 2016 Sorry Donut but your point 1 would absolutely destroy the FA Cup. On average, we'd end up with 20 Premier League teams, about 10 Championship teams and 2 teams from League 1 and 2 if you were lucky. It would be highly unlikely a non league /League 2 team would get a Premier League team. We already have late entry for Premier League teams and those in Europe in the League Cup. Only change I would make is no replays.
