jonthefox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 No, not my suggestion. I would have thought there were more deserving players. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Petition-launched-erect-bronze-statue-Jamie-Vardy/story-28348143-detail/story.html

filbertstreet Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 can we just rename leicester to vardistan
anotherharboroughfox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Clearly just a ploy by that company to get some publicity. Decent effort mind.
norwichfox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 What about the Rowley Statue....At City, he scored 265 League and FA Cup goals in 321 games, including 16 hat-tricks. His 41 penalties also broke the club record......or the Arthur Chandler Statue who scored 8 goals more but it took him 419 games to score them. To even think about a statue at this stage of Vardy's Leicester career is utter nonsense. He'll be playing for another club before its finished.
Guest Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 This bit absolutely slays me "We want to ensure that Jamie Vardy's record breaking accomplishments don't go unnoticed for generations to come and we're worried that without a huge, bronze statue of someone so influential outside his home, this may become the case." I'm always forgetting stuff that doesn't have a statue to.remind me
Thracian Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I'd go for a Vardy statue. His is such an aspiring story. Possibly a blockbuster film. He's more than just about football. It's about the value of inspiration, the thought that anything is possible if you want it enough and about realising that you can get from anywhere to be anything. A Vardy statue would do far more than just pay tribute to a man's footballing talent. Even from the Leicester archives there are so many whose likeness could do that. A Vardy statue would be a tribute to what is possible however unlikely. And to the hopes and dreams of anyone who dares to have them. I watched Rowley play, took shots at Shilton and was a fellow sixer in the same scout troupe, admired Davie Gibson's skills beyond measure and laughed many times at the antics of the brilliant Derek Dougan but no-one has lifted Leicester City more than Vardy. Maybe one day I'll paint my collective mental image of him.. It's of his arm in plaster through the broken bones in his wrist, carrying the swirling blue and white standard of Leicester City through a tunnel of different goalmouths, shoulder charging giant defenders to the floor, right and left, on his way to another breathtaking goal and all to the rousing warcry "fearless"!

Guest Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Yemen. Yeah there's no reason it has to be in Leicester. Good plan
Bluetintedspecs Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 As long as its preceded by his knighthood, a road named after him due to ys winning the league as he carried on his wonderful goal scoring exploits!
fuchsntf Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 No... but how about plaquing 11 individual gold coloured bricks. On stadium wall. Engraved...only an example mind J.Vardy 2015,...11 consecutiveve goals.breaks PL Record. Each individual brick includes the name of the team team he scored against. Placed randomly around the stadium..giving fans and visitors a small brick spotting task, when they visit. Costs less..., not so intrusive...a bit of fun that the fans could enjoy and appreciate Good for pub quizzes, how many goals, and against who, where are the bricks. Maybe somebody could suggest it to the club.
