Beliall Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 the owners want european football...why sell our best assets?
Benguin Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Neither will go in January. For that to happen both the players and club would have to be complete morons. In the summer if Mahrez is still in the same form I could see him going to a big club like Arsenal, City or even Barca or real Madrid. The value would have to be in excess of 50mill really. If we have managed to secure champions league though he might want to stay as we'd surely pay him a good chunk more and he'd be guaranteed first team football.
WiFoxes Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 I don't think we'll sell either in Jan, but a few comments in here are mad. Mahrez is in the form of his life, but you don't spend £80 million on someone who has been on this form for 25 games tops. Anyone reading that from another forum will be howling. There is a difference between someone being invaluable for us over the season, and being so expensive for someone to buy that they have to pay a world record fee. Sure, but the question is how much we would have to be offered to sell them. And I don't think that's an unrealistic answer. They both are worth far more to us than they would be worth to any other team that could afford them. You are right, it would be absolute lunacy to pay that much for him. But there's no reason for us to sell, so someone would have to make a ridiculously high offer to not just be laughed at.
Legend_in_blue Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 We don't need to sell. The owners are loaded and also, do not underestimate the draw of the premier league back in Thailand. Sitting at the top of the table, they're going nowhere.
Grewks Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Wouldn't sell for less than £100 million combined. That is what I value a top 4 finish to be worth at least.....not all in monetary value, but the future potential is then enormous, could be a spurs challenging for top 8/6/4 almost every year.
My Nads Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Wouldn't sell for less than £100 million combined. That is what I value a top 4 finish to be worth at least.....not all in monetary value, but the future potential is then enormous, could be a spurs challenging for top 8/6/4 almost every year. I wouldn't sell them for £100m each! It might sound crazy to some, but I've never seen a player like Vardy before. He's a one off. In Spain they are calling Mahrez Mahredona or something. It's one thing to be compared to Messi and Ronaldo, but being compared to Maradona! There's no higher praise for a footballer. What would Maradona be worth in today's market? If we sold Mahrez now it would be terrible business. He will be one of the most valuable players in the world if he keeps playing like he is. The clubs will have more money soon and who knows how much a bidding war between all of the richest clubs in the world would end. Saying all of that, I'm not worried about any of our starting 11 going anywhere in January.
Finn Claw II Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 Benteke went for £32m, Mahrez is better, it's Jan and the TV money is rising. I think he is a £50m player in Jan. Vardy is older but he would get into the Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea current first 11. I'd pick him ahead or Martial, Benteke or Costa. For Man City he is a better option than Bony. In fact Ageuro, Lukaku and Sturridge when fit are about the only PL strikers I'd swap him for.
dylanlegend Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 Sterling £49m. Torres £50m, Bale £86m, Benteke £32m. The only waynMahrez will leave is if he wants out. If so it shouldn't be less than Sterling. He's better than him already
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 Think everyone is getting massively carried away saying he's worth near 50 million, these players being compared did it at a top level for at least a few years. You've got to remember this is only the first year that Mahrez is starting to shine at the top level.

You've got to remember this is only the first year that Mahrez is starting to shine at the top level. When has Sterling shone at top level? A couple of good games maybe (OK he is English hence the inflated price) In the whole of 2015 Mahrez has been the best player in the premier league and that's not just from a Leicester fans perspective other fans think so also. Even Benteke isn't that consistent so anywhere between 40-50million in the current market has got to be his price tag. You've got to remember also that teams like Man Utd / Liveepool and even Chelsea are crying out for a player like Mahrez. I don't think we'll sell in Jan but maybe in the summer unless we make the Champs league and give him a pay rise

You've got to remember this is only the first year that Mahrez is starting to shine at the top level. What would you value him at? Mahrez is a player who can break down the most organised defences as he beats a man and causes panic. He could quite easily be the best player in the world at some point. he scores goals, makes assists and goes past people for fun. Every team in the world is desperate for a player like that.

Is Mahrez WORTH 50 million? He's worth the highest bid that comes in for him. Or more if we refuse it.
Thracian Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 We'd be short-sighted to sell either. Without those two our chances of making Europe would be all but obliterated. And our words about ambition would be seen as hollow, thus quite likely affecting the motivation of every other player involved. Hang on to Vardy and Mahrez and we might qualify for Europe and we might persuade both that we're intent on being a force there as well. It's not about the income for our top players. Our owners have plenty and don't need to sell for any reason. It's much more about who could possibly replace them with anyone close to being as good and I don't see anyone. Why would two world class attackers join Leicester if we've just sold two of the blokes with most chance of helping us realise a dream? I just don't see it happening unless the players desperately want to move or there's one of those self-mutilating sell-on clauses in either contract that we can't do anything about. For me they're priceless in relation to what we're trying to achieve.
Gerard Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 Exactly, selling either one of them just makes it us look like small time Charlies who got lucky. We have at least three players in the team worthy of playing for a team that could win the PL. We lucked out in a way as they've cost us less than what Kramaric cost us. Selling any of them is a statement saying we really don't want to compete at this level and possible new signings in the future will reject us.
Countryfox Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 They're not going anywhere till the summer earliest ... but don't worry by then Kram and Inler will be playing fantastically well so it won't matter if they do go ! ...... (Do me a favour !!).
lestajigs Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 I wouldn't sell them for £100m each! It might sound crazy to some, but I've never seen a player like Vardy before. He's a one off. gurru991 Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 Leicester are buyers not sellers !! A top four finish is worth more than the return on Vardy & Mahrez put together
harpendenfox Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 To think many were in favour of accepting a £5 million bid for Vardy last January. I think I rated Mahrez at £8 million back then and was laughed at!
Fox 4 Life Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Hiddink has apparently made Vardy his number 1 target for January if he takes the chelski job. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.
ithuriel Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Going to be disappointed then when the club tell Chelski straight away, not for sale.
crisp packet Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Over this next 6 months I feel we will really see how ambitious our owners really are?
Spiritwalker Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 With the new TV money coming in I think the days of the bigger clubs being able to easily cherry pick other teams best players is over. Sure if a player really wants a move he could still engineer it but Premier League teams won't be under financial pressure to sell. I would be amazed if we accepted any offer in Jan, we may never have a better chance of our best ever finish in the Prem.
Finn Claw II Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 It's a similar situation to Southampton, players will want to play for bigger clubs at some point.
Nalis Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 No amount of money in January for me considering we may never be in this position again. I wish there was no window in January in all honesty! I've got a feeling Mahrez might be tempted to leave in the summer unfortunately...
