Nigel De Jong

De Jong is 31 and can't get in a very average Milan side. I'm always wary of players who have had good careers and we take whilst they're on a downward trajectory. De Jong raises a few red flags just like Inler did and that didn't work out well for us.

My fear is that's a Ranieri want than Walsh-type signing.

I'm not sure on De Jong either. I'm not really sure what harm it can do though if we get rid of Inler.

I cannot see any way Inler will ever hold down a place in this team. He just doesn't fit our style. Neither does Kramaric. Neither are poor players and I have no ill feeling towards either as it happens.

If Sheff Weds are seriously toying with £9mil for the bloke then we have to take it for me.

Not to bang on the Inler train (since there's a thread for that), but it's not bad at all to have different types of players in the squad. If squads start to give us respect and sit deep, having a player who has Inler's skill set could be very valuable. It's not like Cambiasso was brilliant right away, and Inler deserves an equally fair shake.

Inler and Benalouane have Ranieri's fingerprints on them and now he wants De Jong.

If this is the case Ranieri shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the cheque book.

Agree with this . I think we've already bought one in Inler who was on a downwards trajectory in a poor Serie A. Better off not buying at all and sticking with King and James imo .

Look where we have come in the last couple of years, no disrespect but we have had dean Hammond and GTF in CM and we moan about the Swiss National Captain, it is no disgrace not to get into a 2 man midfield with DD and Kante lets be honest name better than them in the premiership and think what the cost would be. Will be happy with whoever the club bring in.

I don't have a problem with Inler, but I do find the Benalouane signing interesting. I wonder if he went through the scouting process, although I think he'll come good too.

My point is we don't need anyone at all in that position in January and certainly not a has been De Jong . Itwould be a total waste of money which, if you want to spend it at all would be better used in other areas.

All day long.

He's what we need in case our midfield two get injured or we go on a cup run.

Only concern for me is the mans temperament and how he conducts himself as a professional if he signs.

I Don't think he  is the kind of player we will sign, we don't need experienced back up at the moment, we have Drinkwater, Kante, King, James, Inler, if we did sign a midfielder it would be more likely to be a youngster with massive potential than an experienced defensive midfielder.

I no longer get excited about big name players, if he comes in then fine and if he gets in the team he'll have to perform better than Kante and Drinkwater which is unthinkable right now. So whatever.

This. It pretty much never works well for us.

Yes, I would take him just think of our bench, a Swiss International, a Japanese International, a Dutch International, a Welsh International, a Croatian international.

He was very good at City when he was there plus a step up from James.

Not for me.

He can't get in a very average Milan side and I'm always wary of taking players who are on a downward trajectory in their careers.

Kante and Drinkwater are excellent for us and I still believe neither have peaked by a long way so I'd like to see that partnership being allowed to develop. I'd be happy bringing in another young CM who could cover and come on and make a three in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 but for that formation to work we'd need to sign a left sided FW/MF. A Mahrez mark II please.  :xmaswink:

Mainly to do with their new manager, he was by far their best player last year.

No idea why we are interested. Better CMs than him are stuck on our bench.

Are there?

Andy King has stepped his game up since we got promoted, but he's never been at his level. Inler had a decent rep, but it looks like his game might not be suited to the prem and Claudio doesn't seem to trust him as he never even comes on any more.

If you're looking at a decent backup CM for this league, someone with experience who knows what this league takes then he's not bad.
