m4DD0gg Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 SSN saying he's staying at Milan, not disappointed in the least Would have thought that is a life style choice and salary more than anything else.
ealingfox Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Are there? Andy King has stepped his game up since we got promoted, but he's never been at his level. Inler had a decent rep, but it looks like his game might not be suited to the prem and Claudio doesn't seem to trust him as he never even comes on any more. If you're looking at a decent backup CM for this league, someone with experience who knows what this league takes then he's not bad. When was the last time you watched De Jong play (honestly)?
Carl the Llama Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 SSN saying he's staying at Milan, not disappointed in the least He probs just realised he'd be lucky to make the bench, let alone come off it.
Babylon Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 When was the last time you watched De Jong play (honestly)? End of last season. When was the last time you saw him play to say we have better? We're not going to go out and sign some top quality CM at his peak when we have two players already performing to an excellent level in the middle. If this deal happened it would be a case of Inler out and him coming in as a replacement.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Why bother taking an ageing midfielder from Italy that probably couldn't give a rat's arse about what we're trying to build here? We already have one of those anyway and look how that turned out
walkerleeds Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 4 years ago 100% yes. Right now even I'd even play James and King over him (didn't think I'd be saying that 4 years ago!)
Langley Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 He was the reason why Man City won the league under Mancini. He was a world class and controlled the game. A world class Dean Hammond really. We've got better in Kante I think.
MooseBreath Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Only if Inler goes, then De Jong can sit on the bench like Inler does, and be there as a capable back up in case we get injuries. No long term contract, no straight into the first team. But having good players on the bench is beneficial not just for back up but also to keep the starting players on their ties. I'm sure drinky has benefitted from knowing Inler is right there and James is on his way back this season.

We're clearly after some experience in the middle from the bench and I doubt this is anything more than a backup should we ship out Inler. Like for like with experience and position.
ScouseFox Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 much like inler, not fit to lace andy kings boots. bin.
AKCJ Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 He's alright but we should be targeting the likes of Pogba if we're gonna be serious imo
MPH Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Yes, I would take him just think of our bench, a Swiss International, a Japanese International, a Dutch International, a Welsh International, a Croatian international. He was very good at City when he was there plus a step up from James. There's got to be a joke in there somewhere.....
Drew Peacock Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Anyone called Nigel is welcome. Just don't let him do any media interviews if he comes.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Hasn't Inler been linked with a Milan Loan? Wouldn't mind De Jong coming with Inler off on loan with an option to buy tbh

He came on towards the end of the Milan derby earlier this season which I watched (and Milan lost) though he only got 10-15 mins I think so not going to pin that on him too much. Inler is a better player than De Jong, therefore we have better.
CharlieCharles Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 Id prefer to sign a "risk" signing who isnt known for a few million than someone we know the standard of for the same amount.
cc_star Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 **** yes Kante is phenomenal, having some dirty ****er charging round will add nothing, only detract De Jong is shit. We don't need a replacement for Inler, Inler has been a failure. I'm not sure what the obsession is with slow spoilers. Kante is the perfect example of what a defensive midfielder should be. You don't need to be a dirty useless fvcker to play that role.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 All day long. He's what we need in case our midfield two get injured or we go on a cup run. Only concern for me is the mans temperament and how he conducts himself as a professional if he signs. To be fair, with the season you are having on Scousers tipping thread, you'll probably get this right too! Personally I like up and coming players on a upward curve, than older ones on a downward curve. Always have.
goose2010 Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 would rather we signed a creative midfielder. I Imagine his wages would be an issue.
AKCJ Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 **** yes Kante is phenomenal, having some dirty ****er charging round will add nothing, only detract So...yes or no?

You don't need to be a dirty useless fvcker to play that role. Me neither - we need to maintain our tempo. With Schlupp out we seem to have lost some and looked tired later on against both Chelsea and Manchester United. Yes, I know you might expect it but having people on the bench who can terrorise tired opposition defenders means we don't have to soak up more pressure than is necessary. Pace on the counter-attack is a key weapon for us.
