Webbo Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Scotland have their own anthem, Wales have theirs to. We're forced to play that dirge before every game. Nobody is stopping us from changing it apart from the people who don't want too and their opinion is as good as your's.
ousefox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 GSTQ is terrible. I can't bring myself to sing that crap so would be happy with this.
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 annnnddddddd diddd thoseeeeeeee feeeeeeeeeeeeet in ancientttttt timessssssssss
The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Nothing wrong with GSTQ at all. It can be equally as rousing as Jerusalem on the second part, 'Send her victorious...' Keep. If these don't get your arms covered in goosebumps Jerusalem never will
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Nothing wrong with GSTQ at all. Keep. nothing wrong with it i agree but jerusalem is better
theessexfox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 What is up with Rooney and Neville in that, why don't they sing? I'd go Jerusalem definitely.
Vacamion Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Switching anthems for England might save the Union. Probably won't, though...
Jimothy Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Nobody is stopping us from changing it apart from the people who don't want too and their opinion is as good as your's. I get what Wymespool is saying though. We should have our own anthem, because ours being the same as the British one only furthers this thinking in other parts of the world that Britain is England, which it obviously isn't. It might seem a bit petty but I just don't like the fact that music that plays when Chris Hoy wins a gold medal for Britain is the same that plays when the England team step onto a pitch for a football match, but it's not the same when Scotland do. We should all sing from the same hymn sheet (or anthem sheet ) or we all sing from a different one, not this mismatch of half one thing and half another. It's clearly nowhere near as important, but it's a similar principal to the devolved parliaments, they all get one and our is just the British one. Britain is not England and England is not Britain, we should have our own identity, simple as that.

Izzy Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I'm sure it will change to God Save The King instead soon anyway, bless her..
Mike Oxlong Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 A song about something that doesn't exist saving someone who is unlikely to need saving as she gets the best medical care and protection you can have. Probably the most uninspiring song I've ever heard.
filbertstreet Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I'm sure it will change to God Save The King instead soon anyway, bless her.. don't think Andy's going to be taking over for the queen any time soon mate
enmac Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Can't really see the point of anthems, especially with lyrics. Seems antiquated.Agree. Let's do what Spain does- find a rousing tune with NO words.

bovril Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 don't think Andy's going to be taking over for the queen any time soon mate Your profile pic is well cool.
lgfualol Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 GSTQ just sums up the England football team. Boring awful. Give me Jerusalem, Born Slippy or the Prodigy's Breathe. That'll get the crowds roaring and players pumped.
trabuch Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 The best thing about Jerusalem is the words. But I would like a National Anthem without lyrics something like Lark Ascending. If it has to have lyrics then the smiths "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" would be nicely ironic for an old school empire that loses at sport.
