AKCJ Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Don't get me wrong, I'd like us to sign this guy, but stating the Portuguese league is the SIXTH best league in the world is nothing to shout about. It's definitely not a very good 'selling point' anyway. Given that the Premier League is 3rd and the Portuguese league has only recently dropped from 5th I'd say that it's a very good selling point.

I'd go after them in that order...when there are plenty of good proven PL goal scorers out there, so why risk signing someone like Aboubakar who isn't? We already have three pricey forwards that aren't doing the job, we don't want another one. Half of the seasons over and we don't have time to get them up to speed, we need someone to come in and score goals now and for the rest of this season. Normally I'd be happy to sign another potential Vardy, but it took him a whole PL season to become the player he is now, but this season's special so now isn't the time to bed someone in or gamble.

The last 3 games are the exact reason we do need one. The reason we have been so great is Mahrez and Vardy have been on fire, when they aren't we struggle so someone else that can finish is key for when they have an off day.

That's one huge vote of confidence - and if any of our politicians had uttered it I wouldn't have believed a word. Now I'm a bit underwhelmed. Vardy and Mahrez have been so good we've hardly noticed they're the only real goalscoring threats we've got in the team or on the bench. It's a big ask to expect the same rate of return from them both in the "second half".

We've got a brilliant team but that doesn't blind me to the need to make it better if we can, whether we're second, top or 15 points clear.

Oh I think he is more than capable of getting that amount of goals. However, I am not sure what role he can offer us. Is he going to complement Vardy or is he going to be in competition with him?

It's not just about the strikers, it's also about the players setting up goals - and that doesn't just include Vardy or Mahrez. So it is indeed a team effort. You could also argue that in order to improve our team, we could take a look at our defense and either add another CB or work on our shortcomings in training.

Vardy and Mahrez are unlikely to score another 29 goals in the second half unless they can go up another gear. the introduction of a new Striker with a real goal threat could achieve a similar return of 10 plus goals in the second half before teams work him out. We're never going to have a better chance than now by building on our current success. Which is why we need to sign a few players of extra quality. If you stand still in Football you usually go backwards.

Well we do, Ulloa & Okazaki are simply not good enough. Don't just look at our goal total and assume all is well without analysing the roles of all concerned.
