enmac Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Ulloa's a good player. Potentially 15-18 goals a season in a set-up that suits him. Unfortunately our current approach doesn't suit him much - far less than the variable 3-5-2 latterly preferred by Pearson in fact - and I'm fairly sure we're starting to suffer now because of it. Unless we're using two threatening, preferably goalscoring wide men, i'm not in favour of either a lone striker or the one and a half we muster by playing Shinji. It's neither one thing nor the other but more a makeshift system with a little extra insurance against losing. Fuchs actually seems well suited to a three-man back line - particularly if Schlupp were fit - but Ranieri's not going to change and that means four at the back, a packed defence-orientated 4.5-man midfield, and a medical problem up front whoever carries the weight of wearing our number nine shirt. Our problems are arising in not having a satisfactory alternative now that the devastating pace of Schupp is missing and the remarkable sequence of goals from Mahrez seems to have dried up. Why? Because, apart from the half-fit Vardy we don't have anyone else to score or even pose a consistent threat other than Shinji on what I see as a part-time basis - reducing further as he tires. Agree- now Kram's gone, we must be in for another striker to suit our current system.
Benguin Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Thats hypothetical, he could be a star against some teams from other leagues who play differently just the same as how crap he could possibly be. A load of people have jumped up on here since Saturday when he came on as a sub and had little impact but alot brush over the influences he had against Spurs and some of the glimmers of play that he comes out with like that run and some of his defensive work. People are always reactionary to the last game, I'm the same as my opinion on other teams finishing position changes by the week. But jumping on your own players backs and whining when you think they arent good enough or theyre in bad form and probably need their name chanting a couple of times, I just hate to see. I agree with a lot of the things you have said, I rate Ulloa and think he was fantastic last season and in the odd performance this season. I do however think that he has, for the most part, been ineffective this season and offered quite little. I think a new striker is far from being surplus to requirements what with Kram on loan and Ulloa struggling a bit this year. From what I've seen Aboubakar would be a fantastic signing and I'd have no qualms with the club breaking the record to get him in.

He could be doing alot better and hasnt played effectively well consistently enough. Done nothing to draw abuse from 'supporters' Aboubakar looks a fantastic addition, it would be right to add another goalscorer to our squad and we seem to have some space for one until either Krama goes supersaiyen or we sell someone. Rest of the window should be exciting now
Legend fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Please let's get him in #TANK Perfect alongside Vardy
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I like Leo but anyone defending / justifying his performances over the past two months is deranged
Legend fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I like Leo but anyone defending / justifying his performances over the past two months is deranged Tonight Leo was shocking at best. Ment to be playing as a target man but kept drifting out wide. WE GOT TO GET THIS GUY.
Rushden fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I like Leo. Did you watch his performance tonight????
Legend fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Did you watch his performance tonight???? My nan did and she asked was he an official or under cover for Spurs.
Robin JD Popley Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 CAN WE JUST SIGN THIS GUY NOW?????? Leo's first touch...
Buce Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 My nan did and she asked was he an official or under cover for Spurs. Has she got any boots? I'd take her over Dire.
Bunyip Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 At least we can bin Dyer back to where he came from. But we would be lucky to get a million for Leo . He doesn't score goals and that's not alright with me.
thybluefox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 I'd be feeling pretty smug if I wasn't disappointed to have been proved right. Leo is just not effective enough. He had a handful of good touches in the first half tonight but when Shinji came on he disappeared.
chapero82 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Porto signed a new striker today..... And we bid for a different one
dpjfox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Porto getting a replacement mayhave been the hold up. this guy ticks all the boxes and would score goals in the prem ( and has Champions League experience)
Zear0 Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Reminiscent of the Cambiasso/McArthur bids. We'll throw in a bid for a player we don't want to get things moving.
