filbertway Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 the art of defending by erik dier Alderweireld has had a part in our last 3 goals, what a guy!
Thracian Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I think this is the biggest win of the season. Wes Morgan, Drinkwater, Kasper and Kante were superb. Okasaki also had a very good game. We didn't deserve it but who cares? This is the biggest chance we will possibly ever have of winning the league and/or champions league qualification. I'd love us to sign a top class centre half because I think Huth's lack of pace leaves us exposed at times. A centre forward who can help Vardy also. Ulloa and Okasaki don't get enough goals . Hopefully we have our eye on someone Why didn't we deserve it. As others have pointed out they had one clear-cut chance and a lot of hopeful digs from distance which, sometimes, reflected their frustration in their singular failing to break our defence down. Even most of the blocks we made were calculated blocks where the defensive wall remained intact. We, meanwhile posed quite significant danger in our fewer breakaways with at between 5-7 opportunities that might easily have brought goals. Possession stats means damn all in any game related to Leicester. We often concede the ball up to the halfway line so there's space left t attack into when we do pounce and retreive it. Last night was a classic, entirely calculated, tactical triumph.
Adster Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Alderweireld has had a part in our last 3 goals, what a guy! Every time our strike force come up against him he gets sold. I remember us vs Southampton last season at home. Vardy made him look absolute Pony. Everytime I see him play he makes errors, despite him being labelled one of the best Prem defenders.
HighPeakFox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Wasn't it Phillips that bagged that day? Other than that, totally agree with you. Definitely Nugent
Bayfox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Wasn't it Phillips that bagged that day? Other than that, totally agree with you. Memory is hazy. But one did a step over to dummy the ball. Think that was KP and nuge scored.

Chester Dontlie Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Undeserved win? I struggle to see what Tottenham did better than having higher numbers in some (not so relevant as it turns out) stats. It's not that Huth's chance was Leicesters only one in the whole game. Kante and Vards (pre-injury Vardy would probably bag it) were unlucky not to score, Drinkwater was denied by a brilliant save from Lloris (who was outshone by Kasper btw), Riyad and Shinji had their attempts too. Not only I'd say a deserved victory, but also have a feeling the justice was finally done after the ref skewed the result of that cup game in Tottenham's favour.
theessexfox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I agree that possession is a myth but they did look more dangerous for most of the match, maybe it was just my pessimism but first half they looked like they'd get in behind every time they went forward, we just stopped the final ball very well. We had a bit more control second half, though they still had many dominant spells. We're good at sitting back and hitting teams on the break but our counter attacks weren't generally very successful yesterday, we didn't get through very often. However, a late, (undeserved) smash and grab winner is perfect for an away end, absolutely brilliant. Wish my seats weren't the ones closest to the Spurs fans so we were a bit more of a part of the Leicester end but a superb away day nonetheless.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 When will fans of other clubs realise that possession means absolute **** ALL? Just because you passed it around your back 4 for 45 ****ing minutes doesn't mean you deserve the win the ****ing game. Tottenham had much more possession than us yesterday and it was still US who had the better chances. It's laughable. Jesus. Did you watch the stats throughout the game? They also had most shots, both off goal and on goal. Kasper had a sensational game and God knows why he's much maligned. But that's our game..soak up pressure then hit on the break. The game went how it most predicted it would yesterday, with another great winner on our part.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Kasper's save from Kane was a good one but everything else was pretty routine. Still a good performance but I didn't think it was amazing.

Quite right, but what is even more astounding is, every single game, read our own fans on match threads, our own fans, still dont get the gist of how we play. Panic, statements of get rid, sub, having poor game.!!! Our rope a dope tacticis not only confusing opposition but many of our own fans.
Dan Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Their forum makes for interesting reading http://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/tottenham-hotspur-v-leicester-in-the-league.16506/page-29 They sure as hell didn't deserve the equaliser in the Cup, and for all the possession last night they created less of a threat than we did. How does a lot of meaningless passes constitute "bumfvcking"? Incredible arrogance. Pure delusion as expected. This lot are starting to piss me off. No mercy Leicester. Lets knock these one eyed shitecvnts out the cup too.
The Doctor Posted 14 January 2016 Author Posted 14 January 2016 Theres a bit missing off the end of this gif Spuds fans! Sort it out. In tears watching that, throwing your own player out the way to give the goalscorer a free header? Classic.
Webbo Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 In tears watching that, throwing your own player out the way to give the goalscorer a free header? Classic. I wonder if it was an attempt to con the ref? From the right angle with Ulloa just in front it might look like he pushed him over.
BoyJones Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 As away wins go, thought last night was pretty straightforward. We were always going to get chances against a team with little attacking prowess or ideas on the night. Did they put us under real sustained pressure? No. They had one real opportunity which Kasper saved very well, otherwise they huffed and puffed, looking for inspiration which never came. Even when they were 1-0 down, they showed no urgency. Personally think the term smash and grab is a bit unfair on the lads. City had a controlled approach to the match, a clear game plan which they kept to. I would say CR out thought his opposite number and we fully deserved the win.

I've not read much criticism that wasn't well supported or well meant. In fact I'd say the overall assessment of player performances on here is pretty constructive and the general level of debate something most other site owners can only dream about.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Check it out, view from the our fans when Huth scored. Quite lively!
ozleicester Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 possession/passes......... when in the opponents half makes for interesting reading

I'm not just referring to posession, Tottenham were more dangerous than us most of the game. First fifteen minutes we were our usual slow starters and they were all over us. If the boot was on the other foot I'd have been gutted to lose that one. Makes it even more satisfying to win
Guest Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 TBH we were fortunate to get all the points but neither team were any good against crosses. How many times did the ball bounce in our box? Spyrs were very wasteful. Both teams looked good going forward, drinks and Kanté were immense and Kasper showed his strength - shot blocking (and his weakness - crosses). 2-2 would have been a more realistic score.

Spot on again about Drinks and Kante. As I listened to the game and after about 20 minutes we'd clearly 'ridden the storm' my first thought was that this time last year, given the pressure Spurs were putting us under, we'd have been two down already. Drinkwater and Kanté have made a massive difference to how we defend as a team.
Corky Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I'd rather be fortunate and win than be unlucky and get nothing like plenty of matches last season. We'll have it done to us at some point.
what? Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I think a key indicator of whether or not they were really 'bossing us' (as their forum is insisting) with all that possession is how you're actually feeling when watching it. Those last 20 minutes or so when Chelsea were coming at us I was watching through my fingers. But when Spurs were passing it around the middle of the pitch and occasionally trying to get to the edge of our box there was no real stress or tension. You could just feel that they weren't going to get anywhere and trust that we'd push forward and take our chances when we got them.
bovril Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 What's happened to Arriba Los Zorros, has he gone the way of the Moosebreath or has he finally ended it all after the post-Pearson success of Leicester? I miss his hilarious trollfoolery.
