Back in for Amartey - Official

Recommended Posts

Do you see him as a signing for center mid, not center back then? :)

Definitely! But he is very comfortable as a fast, strong and ball playing center back where he has played a lot of games for FC Copenhagen, but being "only" 6 ft. 0 (I think), he would come short against the Andy Carroll's and Lukaku's of the PL.

Michael Essien: The Man Who Loved His Sleep

Absolutely mate.

We have the next Makelele in Kante

Looks like we're getting the next Essien in Amartey

All we need now is the next Adrian Mutu and we're all sorted.

:( Jealous! John Obi Farking Mikel is our best midfielder these days, would you believe.

A coke-loving striker...? Thought we had a lad up top who likes a party...

Hi,

danish Chelsea fan here in peace. Living in Denmark I have watched a lot of Amarteys games for FC Copenhagen, and he is a powerhouse in midfield.  Although it's very big shoes, the comparison with Essien isn't far off.

Think this would be a great signing.

Gray is 19

Amartey just turned 21

This is exactly what I would like us to do. Take advantage of our tremendous league position and build a solid core for the future.

Leicester City are closing in on the signing of FC Copenhagen's highly-rated defender Daniel Amartey, the Mercury understands.

Sources in Denmark say City have agreed a fee for the 21-year-old Ghana international, who they have been tracking for some time.

The figure is believed to be around £5million and City are hopeful they can complete the deal.

A stumbling block when City have previously inquired about Amartey, who can also play as a central midfielder, has been gaining international clearance as Amartey had not played in enough internationals.

  •

However, he was capped six times during 2015 by Ghana and was eligible for other fixtures, but missed out through injury. However, they will still have to apply to gain a work permit.

Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken admits he is expecting Amartey to move on this month.

"We already have bids for some of our players this winter and Amartey is among those who could leave." Solbakken told Bold.

"There are seven players in our team who have already gotten offers and we are looking at them."

Amartey is considered a rising star and Liverpool were also reportedly monitoring his situation.

He also fits in with City's transfer policy of recruiting young players with potential to grow with Claudio Ranieri's developing squad.

City have already recruited Demarai Gray this month in a £3.7m deal with Birmingham and the 19-year-old made his City debut in the FA Cup clash with Tottenham on Sunday.

City have also been linked with several other promising young players, such as Dynamo Kiev's 24-year-old Austrian defender Aleksandar Dragovic , his fellow countryman, 23-year-old Martin Hinteregger, 17-year-old Portuguese full-back Pedro Pereira, of Sampdoria, and 21-year-old Standard Liege keeper Guillaume Hubert.

Dragovic and Pereira are believed to have been watched by City scouts.
