I think the problem with all this is that most of us have no idea who half the players we're being linked with actually are.

£20m could we be a bargain, but for the majority of us, a 23 year old Nigerian from the Russian league is an unknown quantity.

Yeah but we never sign anyone great under 80 pages.

Which is why we have a world class scouting team and board of directors and don't let Thracian and kingfox make our signings.

But to be fair what Kingfox doesn't know about the Icelandic 2nd division isn't worth knowing.

I look at it this way:

Gray £3.75m

Amartey £3.5m

Iversen £50,000

Remy £11m (if it happens)

Musa £20m (if it happens)

That's five players for just under £40m or £8m each on average.

Not all the money's likely to be at risk in any case and if you said maybe half could be lost through bad decision making, bad luck with injuries or someone like Remy simply losing his edge, is it really impossible that the first three mentioned couldn't evolve to make that £20m up?

I just think that, considered as a group, they represent a good mixture of youth, risk and known expertise. Much like the group we've signed starting with Vardy and Mahrez and continued in the summer.

Add to that the known interest in Chilwell and the offer from Arsenal which would have covered Amartey's fee and we've effectively got one of our five for nothing in terms of squad value, with Chilwell's stock still likely to rise a little even if he doesn't want to stay.

With so much coming in and with our league position so much higher than anticipated (and therefore budgeted for), the real risk is negligible and the potential benefits enormous in terms of being able to sustain our Premiership and European challenge.

I'm not saying this player is no good, my point is that those of us who know **** all about a player tend to get a bit nervous about spending money on what, to us, is an unkown.

whilst I would love us to part with £20m to buy this chap, It makes me wonder reading some posts which state we should just pay the extra few million to bag him as if a few million is akin to spending an extra £20 or £30 on a more decent bloody toaster. A few Million quid in any organisation is er hmm. a fooking lot of money and we are buying a living creature ( I hope) without a guarantee / warranty or any promise of performance . I.e a bloody expensive toaster which isn't even guaranteed to toast your flippin bread!! So we kinda need to trust the judgement of the expert scouts / and commercial guys at LCFC rather than saying - just pay an extra few million quid because we think we should because he looks bloody good on you tube, has a 95 speed rating on FIFA and because stringer keeps ringing ups randoms that say he is the dogs friggin gonads :-)

it's good to be back :-)

We obviously arent too bothered about the potential AFCON ramifications. If we were to sign Musa there'd be a decent chance we could be without an entire 1st choice midfield (hypothetically of course)

Mahrez, Kante (hurry up France), Amartey, Musa and Schlupp.

Think the one we really wanted was likely to be Carrillo.

Come on people being nervous goes with supporting Leicester City, when they took over who would have thought:

a £1 million keeper would stand out in the premiership,a QPR reserve,a Forest player who replaced our record signing, a Stoke 3rd choice centre half,  free transfer from the Bundesliga, a 400k French 2nd division player, a failed Man Utd youth team player, an unknown from France, a guy who couldn't get into a Aston Villa Squad, a Japanese striker and mid 20 something from non league football would take us to the top of the premiership?

Probably someone in hollywood and a bloody good scouting and coaching system! Our management continue to deliver so lets just sit back and enjoy the ride cos whatever following City is a lifetime relationship.

What's going on the toast that the bloody expensive toaster produced? I'm peanut butter man, I often treat myself to Coronation chicken on toast.

If coronation chicken is the food of the gods then marmite is the food of the effing devil.

Well said, now is time to buy before the inflated summer prices - I'd go all out for another attacking midfielder/winger type at 25% less than what he'd cost no doubt in the summer

But to lose a player you want, who, with others, could make the difference between qualifying for Europe or not is far more costly than paying another 15% or so.

As I've mentioned elsewhere it's unlikely you'll be risking all the money in any case and our known/guaranteed income will more than cover it.

Who knows if the theory will materialise as fact in terms of success.

Remy wouldn't have been my preferred choice because of the points made by Suffolk Fox and his being injury prone and looking out of condition. But others have pointed out that of all our supposed targets, Remy has considerable experience of the Premier League and proved he can score in that kind of football.

Mo signing is guaranteed. But this may be the best chance we ever get to qualify for Europe and our owners would be crazy not to do all they can to try and take it.

Far better surely than ending the season and saying "if only we'd done this or that".

If ever there was a need for a 'don't be like Arsenal meme' this is it

Ok guys, so say we buy Musa, how would we set up? Have him behind Vardy?

Play him at right back
