KP Fox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 He's worth what we'll pay. It's a false economy. I don't care and can't understand why anyone else does. We're rich beyond our wildest dreams and have the nucleus of a brilliant squad that cost nothing. He's perfect for our style. Reminds me of SWP in his pomp when I've seen him play. Goal ratio doesn't include the pic he'll create and spaces he'll leave for JV and Mahrez. Fingers crossed Possible the stupidest post I've ever read. Just putting in perspective. For a fan who has witnessed his club in administration. It's not such a stupid post. You are the one that is naive!
wattolcfc Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 I'm confident we'll get him for £20m plus add ons. Signing Remy will make us look less desperate and Moscow will feel they have to cash in now before his value drops in the summer. Can't wait to see him up front with Vardy chasing down everything and running at defenders with raw PACE! Exciting times!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Is he definitely 23 years old? Well if he'd admit to being 29 we'd have paid the extra by now
st albans fox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Just putting in perspective. For a fan who has witnessed his club in administration. It's not such a stupid post. You are the one that is naive! Not saying 'you're nuts KP' but teams trying to win the PL and compete in the CL have to spend this kind of money now and again. we haven't spent a fortune since we got promoted so we are well ahead in our budget if we want to spend 20/25 mill.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 3 days for this drama to drag out Plenty of twists and turns left yetThe drama Oh the drama
Great Boos Up Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 He's worth what we'll pay. Fingers crossed Agree! We put 12 million on the table for Austin - rejected and in the end sold for third (false economy). Austin didn't want to come, this fella is up for it. But I still read negative posts that spending 30million in a Jan transfer window is for the big boys only. Fine if we wanna be a West Brom forever. Champions League would make King Power a global known brand. This is loose change for Global Brands(true economy). If this fella IS what we need most at the moment (and I place my trust Sir Walsh) then I would propose that we take a deep breath, meet the buyout clause and show the world exactly how far we have come. If not, try and get a deal and move to the next. Tick, Tock.
Buce Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Would rather Remy on loan and give us another 6 months to look at players instead of rush into this No. This is our time; a once in a lifetime opportunity; a chance to do something so unbelieveably brilliant that it would shake the football world to it's foundations. In the grand scheme of things, when you look at what is at stake, £20 million is nothing. We have fifteen cup finals coming up, and if this is the man the Don says he needs, then this is the man he should get. We don't want to be looking back, in six months time, thinking about what might have been.
katieakita Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Everton have paid £28 million for a striker, so us spending £20 million to try to get a CL place and an extra £40 million plus in revenue is not so unreasonable. Lets hope we meet our ambitions and get a top 4 finish, thing is selling clubs know we have money as do agents so we will pay over the odds but then again is won't be like we will not be benefiting from huge TV revenue and King Power seem to be doing very nicely. The money is unreal and those we now see as rivals pay £20 million+ for squad members. If you want to buy a taxi 15k will get you a decent car, if you decide to go up market and chauffeur around millionaires you probably need to spend around 50k. Your 50k car should look pretty good, if you then decide to go into F1 racing you might find you need to spend a lot more than your 50k car. We have moved on our squad value since promotion has probably gone from about £30 million since promotion to about £200 million. Our business model still looks good.

This could be a season that is remembered for a lifetime, 10/20/30m doesn't matter. The owners are clearly prepared to make a dream a reality
themightyfin Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Just putting in perspective. For a fan who has witnessed his club in administration. It's not such a stupid post. You are the one that is naive! I witnessed the Admin but this is completely different scenario to last time, and we are about to cop shed load of money. What would you rather us do? Invest now with the chance of the club to enter golden era or carry on picking up cheap imports and lower league clubs players? Yes granted we have found a couple of gems in the last few years but they dont come around that often. Investing in lower league players means that's where you eventually end up. I for one do not want to see us as a Yo-YO club again this is our time to push on and really go for it. We have the money spend it! Trust the owners club and manager they have got it right so far.
Thracian Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Not saying 'you're nuts KP' but teams trying to win the PL and compete in the CL have to spend this kind of money now and again. we haven't spent a fortune since we got promoted so we are well ahead in our budget if we want to spend 20/25 mill. Absolutely - and it's swings and roundabouts. You get one or two cheaply because of your scouting team doing their groundwork and you pay a bit over the odds sometimes for a particular player you want. I still don't see us spending anything that's not built into our squad value and/or forthcoming guaranteed earnings. I'm quite sure our Premiership budgeting wasn't based on income for us being top of the league or anything like it.

yorkie1999 Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Don't forget, they did say they are prepared to spend 180 million to get us into europe, i just didn't think it was going to be in one season.
GaelicFox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 It's too expensive. We can sugar coat the deal as much as we want, but it's simply too much. Says who ?

Money is not an issue the tv money over next 3 years is likely to be close to £500m We are rich ! Fecking spend it !
FoxinNotts Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Our transfer policy is (has been recently) the envy of many clubs. Why rock the boat with risky expensive gambles like this? If it ain't broke, it don't need fixing. Hopefully he's a world beater and I eat my words. I just don't "feel" this one, for whatever reason. Maybe it's because I don't know much about him, yet we're gonna spunk £20m on getting him!
MPH Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Are people really complaining about having to pay near on 20 million for a player? Small time thinking. How are we every going to knock down an already difficult door into champions league football with that kind of mentality? If we wait until the end of the season for this type of player, what with the renegotiated tv deal, so many other teams will be able to afford him. You might as well add another 10 million to his price tag.
SheppyFox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 **** it, if our guys say he is our man then he is our man, sign him regardless of the cost. Just hope his wage won't dwarf our lads at the minute, it's always a concern that our players will feel hard done by I guess.
Babylon Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 Our transfer policy is (has been recently) the envy of many clubs. Why rock the boat with risky expensive gambles like this? FoxinNotts Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 So you're saying trust our transfer policy... And then not trusting our transfer policy. Exactly .....oh wait a minute!
SheppyFox Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 So you're saying trust our transfer policy... And then not trusting our transfer policy. I hope you don't do your own finances. Aye with what our team had done in finding talent so far is trust them with any amount of money should they say it's good business.
The Fox Covert Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 If we were to land him for 20 million that would put us in a very exclusive club. We would be only the ninth English club to pay 20 million for a player. All the rest are the traditional big city clubs with a long list of trophies (even if one or two haven't won anything for a long time). Just for the record, the eight are Arsenal (38.2 million for Ozil) Villa (18 million rising to 24 million for Darren Bent) Chelsea (long list topped by Fernando Torres, 50 million) Everton (28 million for Lukaku) Liverpool (35 million for Andy Carroll ) Man City (long list topped by Kevin de Bruyne, 54 million) Man United (long list topped by Angel de Maria 59.7 million) Tottenham (Erik Lamela 30 million) I do however remember Forest in their championship winning season spent quite a bit, but nothing on the scale of the traditional big city clubs. They even broke the UK transfer record for Trevor Francis, in an era with a more level playing field for the top division's middle ground. So did we once, for Allan Clarke. In Don Claudio and Top I trust.
Great Boos Up Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 At the start of the window I suggested spending £30 million on a couple of key players in this window and was ridiculed, insulted and made a joke. I don't mind, not my money just my opinion. Strange though when only a few days are left in the window the feeling turns. This season we all get excited about pace and Musa looks like lighting. But the constant up bidding worries me. Offer the buyout clause first time and do the deal quick or move on. All this does is create massive interest from our Premier League title wining rivals.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 29 January 2016 Posted 29 January 2016 All this does is create massive interest from our Premier League title wining rivals. I wouldn't class Man Utd as title rivals to be honest
