it was the new 2018 XC60 that I saw and liked. would happily sack off my Jaguar F-Pace for one of these in a second tbf.

Image result for volvo xc60 2018

I'm sure I read somewhere not long ago that nobody has ever died in an XC60 since they started making them.

There's the basis of a fun challenge

nice stat!

they've always had good reviews I think, just been a bit ugly but they've massively sorted that out in the 2018 model.

volvo gonna have a good few years I reckon.

it's a hybrid as well, which at the moment is of interest to me.

I know someone with the previous one and they're ecstatically happy with it

good to know man, thanks.

just ran through the model builder on the volvo site - with the specs / engine I want it's like £51k.

probably gonna have to wait for a year or so until the 2018 model has plenty of second hand stock sitting about - will pick up much cheaper.

will probably have moved from the UK by then but it's definitely what I'd have next. :)

I had CRV's for years - they were great, would highly recommend them.

None the ones I had ever had any problems mechanically, and they were plenty big enough for family needs.

Buy the best one you can for your budget and you'll be fine.

Excellent, I'm actually going to look at another one tomorrow morning (if it's still available) and looks great for the money. Ticks every box I want from a car

Got a 2003 Honda CRV today and I bloody love it, nice and spacious and a great engine

Only thing is they came with a removable boot floor that doubled up as a picnic table, and mine's missing. Need it for transporting the dog around. For some reason the MK2 ones on eBay seem to sell for £100 or more (used), while the MK1 ones sell for £40, but they look very similar. Does anyone happen to know if the MK1 table would fit in the MK2, or failing that can anyone recommend any decent breakers around Leicestershire that might have this item and not charge a fortune for it?

Wrong thread maybe but need to get my car cleaned inside and out. Leicester based. Any reccomendations?

Note - car isnt anything spectacular but she wants it cleaned before we go away on holiday in it and I cannot be arsed.

You can do a lot worse than just take it to your nearest friendly Europeans in old petrol station type places. I paid 12 quid for a pretty decent exterior clean and a reasonably thorough vacuuming and wipe over of the dashboard.

If you want something a bit more upmarket, a full valet from a specialist costs about £60.  I THINK this is the guy I used a couple of years ago:

Was good. If your car is a few years old a proper clean can make a massive difference. No word of a lie, I had a motor once that I'd agreed to sell, had it cleaned properly and it looked so good I didn't want to get rid of it (I still did, to be replaced by a car that I never liked as much)

Just cut one out of MDF, I don’t think I would want to eat sandwiches from the floor of my boot though tbh.

Luckily I grabbed a good one off eBay earlier for £49 inc. delivery, half the price everyone else and breakers were charging. It's got a cool box in the dashboard so I can stuff scotch eggs and a lemonade in there and have myself a banging little picnic when it gets delivered

Since having my second child recently I’ve realised our 2010 5 door Astra just isn’t big enough. Fit the toddlers bike and baby’s pram in the boot fine but anything else you’ve got no chance. I have got a roof box to compensate this is if we go away for a weekend but in reality it’s just not big enough.

so initially I was looking at second hand VW TIGUAIN (around the 14k mark would get me a 3-4 year old version with reasonable mileage and spec) but then I’ve also realised that I would be paying around £260 on a loan for this over 5 years and at the end of those 5 years I will again want a newer car so I have looked into leasing.

does anyone here lease? Can you briefly explain the pros and cons because, again, I can see I can get a brand new vw tiguain for less than £300 per month or a vw arteon r line which look absolutely gangster but I doubt the Mrs will go for it she wants a school run mum mobile.

any other suggestions on mini suv sized cars would be good. Don’t particularly want a Nissan quashqui though

Have leased for the past 10 years or so on 3 year contract hire agreements.

The main pros are you know what it's costing each month, you only really need to pay for servicing and garages usually do deals for 3 year servicing. Or get it with a maintenance plan, however not much normally goes wrong with new to 3 year old cars. No mot worries either for cars under 3 years old. Oh, and you also get a new car every 3 years.

The downsides are that it may cost slightly more than if you bought a nearly new car and maybe ran it for 10 years. The cost of the car and maintenance etc. over the 10 years would be cheaper.

For £300 a month you'll get something fairly decent like you say. My Mrs had a qashqai, decent spec etc for £230 per month and loved it...

Have a look on here

https://leasing.com

There's loads of deals about at the moment.  If you hang on till August and aren't bothered about having the new 68 plate cars there will be even better deals about as they will all be trying to shift 18 plate stock.

If you want a contact of any good lease brokers drop me a message,  I've used a couple of good guys before. It's worth speaking to them especially if you don't have 1 specific car in mind as there's always surplus stock of some vehicles somewhere...

Hope this helps

How likely is getting caught with no MOT? Car is getting repairs on Saturday as it failed it’s MOT this week. Nothing major, just a new tyre and a new part needed. Need to be in Leicester tomorrow though to drop it off at my mums before it is then taken to the garage Saturday morning. How lenient are the police if I were to be stopped? You hear of people having no MOT for months and months and I am

genuinely getting it sorted on Saturday.

I think it’s a bit of a grey area, as far as I’m aware you can drive your car without a valid mot as long as you’re driving it to the testing station and you’ve pre-booked the mot.

You dont have to be pulled over to get caught though. ANPR cameras are all over the place now and they’ll pick it up straight the way.

Remember no mot means no valid insurance as well, even if your insurance is current. Insurance is only valid if all other documentation is valid.

I am in a position where I might be getting a new job that would include a car. I haven’t had a company car before. Can anyone please advice how it works with tax etc? I want to make sure I get myself the best possible deal. I hear it might be better getting a petrol over a diesel.

I suggest a red car ...   which was the colour of my first company car ...  and when my girlfriends ex boyfriend  smashed her flat door in to rip my head off and unfortunately gashed his arm very badly in doing so,  the blood that squirted all over the bonnet of my car, that was parked just outside the front door,  blended in quite nicely ! ...
