Bryn Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 He deserves a mention but he's a round peg in a round hole at Leicester, his discipline and his temperament fit the bill perfectly. He's not international class.
kyleolly Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 He is for sure the weakest player in the team.he weren't today he's the weakest player in name only I've been watching him closely since he came into the team and he really is a good right back!
Clever Fox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 He's been magnificent these past few months and fully deserves to be in the England Team. Although I was one of the ones calling for his inclusion in the team last year I never thought he could produce performances like he turning in lately. He deserved MOTM. today but as the whole defence turned in a top performance today I suspect the Morgan's Goal won it for him.
4everfox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 If Martin Kelly is deemed worthy of an England cap then Danny Simpson should be worthy of at least 50. Most improved player of the season, and I mean not only at Leicester but in the whole league.
Rasmic123 Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Should be in the team, better defender than walker and clyne without doubt. Not a household name though so wont get anywhere near the team
kyleolly Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Should be in the team, better defender than walker and clyne without doubt. Not a household name though so wont get anywhere near the team this time last year he was throttling his Mrs that's why he won't get a call up
wight88 Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Pity his missus didn't think of the impact burning his toast would have on England's chances of glory two years later. Some women just don't think do they.
erlee Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 He deserves a mention but he's a round peg in a round hole at Leicester, his discipline and his temperament fit the bill perfectly. He's not international class. yep. International class would be someone like Fuchs. ..or even Morgan
Wizerud Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Surprised me with his performance today. I genuinely didn't think he was that good! Despite his mistake giving them their best chance and his blunder in front of goal I thought it was his best performance in a City shirt. At least for the goal chance he was in the right position. That in itself is a positive considering I've never seen him anywhere near the opposite six yard box before.
Lionheart10 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 He's improved massively this season,I really didn't think he would be good enough but he has certainly stepped up to the mark.
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Won't go doesn't fit the system, unfortunately England don't have someone like Riyad to put in front of him.
ealingfox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 In what other games this season has he looked a top player? Hes been surprisingly good since hes come into the team but hes not a top player. A dependable PL full back when in a settled team and knitted in well with the rest of our back 5. There's no way he's a better option for England than Clyne.
foxes161 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 He still makes me nervous at times but played well on Sunday.
Mint23 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I think both full back positions are up for grabs for England, neither Walker, Rose or Clyne look real class but just seem to be the best we have on offer at the moment, Luke Shaw is the only one I really rate if he can get fit. I don't see why Simpson shouldn't be mentioned and given a try but it just shows us how good Neville and Cole really were
Aus Fox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Who was the last English player to play consistently for the Champions of England and not get an international call up? We have both Albrighton and Simpson, with Drinky not certain of a place on the plane either. Which is shocking when you consider some of the players to receive a call up just for putting on a united or Liverpool shirt.
Babylon Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 In what other games this season has he looked a top player? Defensively, pretty much all of them since he came into the team. England want to play with attacking full backs as they are narrow and need width, so there is no point in even talking about him. Being asked to do what he does he's been excellent, ask him to do something he's not good at in another team playing a different way and he'll go back to looking limited. Just like Morgan and Huth would. If England decided that defending was quite important and wanting full backs who defend, he'd do fine. As all the others are the sort who just bomb forward without much regard for defending. That's why we look so bad at defending at international level.
Munshi Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Weakest player in our team? Do people even watch our games or just base their shit on fifa ratings?
Babylon Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Weakest player in our team? Do people even watch our games or just base their shit on fifa ratings? Who would you say is the weakest player? I think he's in a group that are quite similar in terms of ability, each with their own limitations, but ones that we don't expose them to by playing how we do.
Captain... Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Defensively, pretty much all of them since he came into the team. Agree with this, if England wanted a defensive minded full back with the discipline to defend I can't think of any better in the PL at the moment. If they are relying on their full backs to create width then he is not the man. I could see a situation where we are 1-0 up and getting overrun, he wouldn't be a bad option to bring on.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Still see him as Danny the wife beater tbh and would rather he didn't represent LCFC at national level

We have both Albrighton and Simpson, with Drinky not certain of a place on the plane either. Carrick has consistently missed out at international level. I'm sure there are others too. There are clear reasons why the 3 you've mentioned haven't been considered and let's get one thing straight... The England side could contain plenty of players from the league champions, one way or another.

The England side could contain plenty of players from the league champions, one way or another. Michael Carrick went to at least 2 world cups, without checking facts possibly 3. And pretty sure at one point said he didn't want to be a bit part player and pulled out of the England squad. I'll give you Steve Bruce.

Yes, an international career spanning almost 15 years, a lot of it spent at Manchester United - yet he's only made 1 appearance at a major tournament (travelled in a 23 man squad twice).
Claridge Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 He isn't better than Nathaniel Clyne, let's not be daft I mean Clyde's defensive record at Liverpool is far better than Simpson's. Another headless chicken full-back who will bomb forward and expose the centre-halfs to a counter attack at the euros.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 I mean Clyde's defensive record at Liverpool is far better than Simpson's. Another headless chicken full-back who will bomb forward and expose the centre-halfs to a counter attack at the euros. He gets told to play a certain way and does it well enough. I'm sure Southampton fans will vouch for the fact that he can defend if instructed to play that way. Simpson fits into our back five fantastically, granted - but he isn't 'better' than Nathaniel Clyne, I'll stand by that.
