AndWhat? Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 How soon after the draw will we know when and where we are playing?
AKCJ Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 How soon after the draw will we know when and where we are playing? Isn't it similar to the International tournaments when teams are drawn and then dates are drawn? I might be making that up but it rings a bell.
AndWhat? Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 Isn't it similar to the International tournaments when teams are drawn and then dates are drawn? I might be making that up but it rings a bell. I had that feeling as well, but wasn't sure if that was just the week we are playing not the actual day.
ScouseFox Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 well the draw is on a friday and the first group game is like two weeks later so pretty soon is my guess
Staffs Fox Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 You learn the running order of the fixtures on the day the draw is made, It's done after the main draw. The format always remains the same where you play the same team in weeks 3 and 4
Dan Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 As Pot One do we also get our first match at home?? Anyone know which will be home and which away? If it's any consolation I know you play the teams in this schedule... 1st game - Team A 2nd game - Team B 3rd game - Team C 4th game - Team C 5th game - Team A 6th game - Team B Not that it means a lot. I really hope we're at home first game. That could eat right into my money if we're away first. Any news on ticket arrangements yet?

If I were to guess I'd say Pot One teams get their first game at home? But that's purely something I thought might be logical... It's a nightmare if we don't find out until the draw as I've got to book a couple days off work at least for the away games!

Munshi Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Champions league games and the option to play all their home games at wembley too
billyn88 Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Into pot one Real go, no chance of seeing them face Leicester in the group stage along with Barcelona, Juve, PSG, Benfica, CSKA Moscow, Bayern Munich and one other whose name escapes me... (Edit: im an idiot, were the 8th team) While some glamour ties are gone we have to look at the positive of a much greater chance of the knockout stage.
ealingfox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Hideous end to the tournament with a final neither team deserved to win but the more twattish one did. We know one of our group opponents now - us drawing Atletico is nailed-on. Pepe seems to have finally crossed a line - I haven't seen such widespread outrage and condemnation on social media before, from loads of people within the game as well. my mates thought I was joking when I said I thought our team could take either of those based on that showing.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 So Pot 1 will be: Real Madrid Barcelona Leicester City Bayern Munich Juventus PSG Benfica CSKA Moscow While Pot 2 looks likely to be Atletico Madrid Borussia Dortmund Arsenal (whom we cannot draw) Manchester City (Ditto) Sevilla Porto Napoli Bayer Leverkusen Bear in mind that we can't draw Arsenal or Manchester City, neither Barca nor Real can draw Atletico or Sevilla, Bayern can draw neither Dortmund nor Leverkusen, Juventus can't draw Napoli and Benfica can't draw Porto, it all looks pretty set for us to be drawn alongside very serious opposition from Pot 2. Personally; I'm hoping for either Porto or Bayer Leverkusen as I think both would be beatable not only in a match situation, but are more beatable over six games. I can see the likes of Dortmund, Atletico and Sevilla being less likely to drop points against the likes of Roma, Lyon and Olympiacos.
Harry96 Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Yes agreed would definitely prefer Porto and Leverkusen over the others
ajthefox Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Would love a trip to Dortmund, but I think Leverkusen would probably be the game we'd have the best chance of winning. Saw them play Hamburg in October and it was one of the worst games of football I've seen.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 As much as I love the Bundesliga, I'd rather draw a German side that wasn't Dortmund than any Spanish side. Bender and Chicharito are decent players, but they'd have more to fear from Vardy, Mahrez and Kante (if he's still here), before mentioning the speculated incomings like Musa and N'Zonzi. I believe Spanish opposition would be much more difficult. Sevilla are a serious outfit with three straight EL titles and El Madrigal would be a difficult place to go to as well.
Webbo Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 We'll get Atletico but I'd quite like Napoli as a friend of mine comes from that area and he might be able to get me a seat in their end (not sure I'm up for that though)
ealingfox Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 This is how the top 3 pots will be assuming the teams who will be in qualifying get through. No idea about pot 4 for a while as a lot of the tinpot leagues haven't finished and it'll be made up of qualifiers. POT ONE (Confirmed) Real Madrid (holders) Barcelona Leicester City Bayern Munich Juventus Benfica PSG CSKA Moscow POT TWO (Provisional) Atletico Madrid Borussia Dortmund Arsenal Manchester City* Sevilla FC Porto* Napoli Bayer Leverkusen POT THREE (Provisional) FC Basel Shakhtar Donetsk** Tottenham Hotspur Olympiakos Dynamo Kiev Lyon Villarreal* Ajax** * Enter in final qualifying round ** Enter in third qualifying round
Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Pot 4 will be made up of teams like Moenchengladbach should they qualify, BATE Borisov and goodness knows who else. A range of teams really from Anderlecht and Monaco to Astra Giurgiu and FK Qarabag. It's a bit of a lottery in truth.
Dan Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Please let Spurs get Atletico & Bayern. It'd be hilarious watching them binned into the Europa. Think of the six pot two sides we can draw, I'll rank them in order of what I hope for... Dortmund Sevilla Atletico Porto Leverkusen Napoli Dortmund just looks like a footballing paradise. It'd be a great experience to go there. Sevilla as well I've got a soft spot for. Atletico I think would be intriguing albeit very tricky. Porto is similar but a bit easier. Leverkusen seems pretty tame by German standards. Napoli is a very tough place to go and it'd be the main one out of those you're likely to get trouble I'd say. I don't mind a bit of sting but there's a difference with sting and being surrounded by thousands of Neapolitans. Strikes me as being the most intimidating ground in the 'big five' leagues. Pot three you've got to want Ajax. That ticks every box. Super away trip and a very winnable game as well in my opinion. Basel I'm not totally sure on. Shakhtar I don't particularly fancy but Kiev I would. Lyon I'd take. Villarreal I'd take as well. Olympiakos would be scary but maybe they'll go easy on us for the Cambiasso link. Or in reality they'll just beat the shit out of me and I'd not blame them. Too many pros and cons in each one to decide so it's just a case of we get what we get. There'll be some memories either way. Just please don't send us to ****ing Red Bull Salzburg.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Leverkusen could be brilliant if you did it the right way. It's under 20 minutes from Cologne if you train it, and Cologne is one hell of a city. As excellent an experience that Dortmund would be, pretty much anywhere in Germany could be class. Leverkusen would also be more winnable than Dortmund. Everything crossed for Ajax - what a trip that'd be. Thousands and thousands of Leicester guaranteed. As for Pot 4, Scandinavia would be intriguing. Rosenborg or Norrkoping please.
