Stadt Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Got a (unsubstantiated, really) feeling that we're going to make the quarters
smr Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 It's gonna be absolutely ****ing delightful to see us tearing posession based CL teams up next year with our potent counter attacking game.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 New teams to add to the group stage: Olympique Lyon (France) - impossible to lose their 2nd spot in the Ligue 1 table with only one game to go Besiktas (Turkey) - it would take a miracle for Fenerbahçe to overcome a -7 goal and six points difference and Besiktas to lose both of their last two league games
Jonezy Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 'Dilly Ding Dilly Dong! We are in the Champions League man!' - It is frickin crazy and I'm gonna love it!
st albans fox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 'Dilly Ding Dilly Dong! We are in the Champions League man!' - It is frickin crazy and I'm gonna love it! was thinking about this as I awoke earlier. Not only in the CL but we will be read out at the top of our group. That could be ahead of Dortmund, one of the madrids (depending who loses), inter or Roma. These teams could be in OUR group (not the other way around). Just lunacy and it doesn't really register in my brain. I am a logical person.

I got to get to one or the other of the buggers!
Guest Bilo Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 So... Pot 1 will be: Real/Atletico (CL) Barcelona/Real Madrid (Spain) Barcelona are a point ahead with superior goal difference going into the final game. Bayern Munich (Germany) Leicester City (England) PSG (France) Juventus (Italy) Benfica/Sporting CP (Portugal) A draw for Benfica on the final day will effectively confirm their title due to superior goal difference. CSKA Moscow/Rostov (Russia) CSKA are two points clear with two to play. This is unless Real win both La Liga and the Champions League, in which case the team from the eighth placed European League comes in to take the place of the Spanish champions, which in this case will be Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kyiv. That would also entail Barcelona and Atletico dropping to Pot 2. Based on that therefore, let's hope Barcelona win La Liga. I'd sooner face Dynamo than Messi, Suarez and Neymar in the group stages.
Webbo Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 We've had 3 seasons in Europe and we've played athletico twice, we're bound to get them again.

I'll definitely be cheering on Barcelona today.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 So, it's Barcelona winning La Liga this season. What are the odds of us drawing Real Madrid in the group stages, then?
Guest Bilo Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 3-0 to Barcelona. All but confirmed that Barcelona are La Liga champions and we will not face them at the group stage.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Tonight, we'll find out whether we could face either Napoli or Roma in the group stages. Tomorrow could be very telling, as Besiktas are likely to clinch the title in Turkey needing only one more point and Club Bruges could make a huge step forward to lifting the Belgian Pro League trophy in the direct encounter with second-placed RSC Anderlecht and distance themselves from their immediate opposition by six points (with two matches to go). The title race in Russia ought to be decided by Monday evening. A win for CSKA Moscow and they've made it.

I'm sure Claudio would too! Edit: forget that, thought that said Lazio for some reason
Fridgechef Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Why would we definitely get an Italian team? We may not...
st albans fox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 So, it's Barcelona winning La Liga this season. What are the odds of us drawing Real Madrid in the group stages, then? If they win the CL it's zero ! If they don't I reckon 5/1, given that citeh and arsenal are probably second seeds.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Roma currently 1-0 up at Milan, whilst Napoli are being held to a 0-0 draw against Frosinone. Napoli still ahead on goal difference, though.
StanSP Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Roma currently 1-0 up at Milan, whilst Napoli are being held to a 0-0 draw against Frosinone. Napoli still ahead on goal difference, though. it's done on head-to-head in Italy. So Roma in 2nd right now.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 it's done on head-to-head in Italy. So Roma in 2nd right now. Does it make much difference? Surely Roma would be in a higher pot even if they finish 3rd?
LCFC1996 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Frosinone down to 10 man after a player was given a straight red for protesting a decision, I imagine Napoli will win.
StanSP Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Does it make much difference? Surely Roma would be in a higher pot even if they finish 3rd? To me, no. I have no idea and don't really give a shit. Was just saying to MC Prussian that Napoli aren't 2nd as it stands.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Frosinone down to 10 man after a player was given a straight red for protesting a decision, I imagine Napoli will win. Imagine Inler still being with us next season and us getting drawn into a group with Napoli...
NewEnglandFox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Does it make much difference? Surely Roma would be in a higher pot even if they finish 3rd? Edit: I was wrong. Looked at the the 14/15 coefficient which makes all of the difference because Napoli's 11/12 campaign boosted them in the rankings. Roma is 27th and Napoli is 29th in the coefficient. As long as the 3rd place team makes it through the playoff round, they'll probably be the same pot. http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/seasonclub/index.html
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Napoli back up to second in the table and back in Pot 1 as they're leading Frosinone 1-0. That could mean a potential encounter with Roma in the same group.
