Daggers Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 And still some people don't know how to understand history or place success in context. Feeble. Pearson turned around a shambles of a club and set in place the foundations for today - beyond the bastard hanging flowers and the BBQ sets. The scouting, the signings, the physio set-up - the works. Yes he was shit at PR, yes he hated journos and yes his tactics were naive. But he built the essence of this side for CR to take to another level. Thank you NP for being that person who did what needed to be done. And that in no way detracts from the outstanding job Claudio has achieved. Let it go you bitter fûckers, give a bit of credit where it's due.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 There's probably a lot of pro-Nigel and anti-Nigel bullshit in this thread but I couldn't care less. Thanks Nigel, this couldn't have been done without you.
Monsell1976 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Pearson played a part before this season, but it's all about Claudio, nothing or nobody should take away what he's done here this season
WigstonWanderer Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Claudio could win us the Champions League, and people would still be crediting it to him. Unbelievable. Don't think anyone's giving him all the credit, just credit where it's due.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/16755706 Among many things we should be grateful that Pearson did, this has to be one of the most crucial.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Well done Nige, hope he's taking pride in seeing our achievements. On off chance you're reading this, ignore the knuckle draggers on here cos to most of a Leicester persuasion you're a hero. One NP!
Harry - LCFC Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Thanks so much for lifting us up so far, Nige. You put us in a position where we could leap for the highest plateau.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Credit to Pearson, he played a key role to where we are now, he built a team with quality and togetherness, and he can take great pride in that.
Monk Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Switching managers was in retrospect a shrewd move at the right time. Pearson will forever be one of my favourite ever Leicester managers. He did so much for this club and so much that fed into this season's success. I wish, but doubt, that he could be there on Saturday to experience what his friends have achieved.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 I wonder what Pearson is thinking now? If he had controlled himself better he might be still in the job? We have to thank Nigel for getting us back in the big time AND keeping us there (in the end). But personally I think Ranieri is a far superior manager and I've warmed to him in a way I never could to Pearson. In terms of 'what might have been', well who knows? Big thanks to Pearson and his staff for assembling this squad. But he was the master of his own downfall I'm afraid. In the end.
Fox92 Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 One Nigel Pearson! Will always be a hero, the work he did here (twice) was unbelievable.
fuchsntf Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 No debate... But just think how Cambiaso, will be thinking now!!!
whetstonefox Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Pearson bought the pride back to this football club, got our hunger back , will be forever grateful. I hope he gets some success, has potential at Villa if he is allowed to 'manage' the club and get rid of the players who couldn't give a toss
thybluefox Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Pearson, across two spells as manager of this great football club, handled the transition from poor performing team with no money, to over achieving team with significant amounts of money. Claudio could not have done what he did without Pearson laying the groundwork, but likewise Pearson could not have done what Claudio has done this season. There's an awful lot of people who've had a hand in what we've just achieved though, lets not forget that.
trabuch Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 I'd like to thank Nigel Pearson for his part in our history (and his son for HIS part). In particular assembling a extremely good team of backroom staff.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 I love NP, i admire his stance and his approach. He was solid in his own belief, yes he was awkward with the press, but his players loved him and would run through walls for him. That speaks volumes for the person. What he built was a brilliant base on which to build, and what CR has done with that in one season is remarkable. I will also say that i don't think we'd be where we are now had he stayed, he wasn't tactically good enough. We must appreciate Walsh and Shakie amongst this too, everyone of them has been vital. I raised my glass to NP last night and said a thank you.
inckley fox Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 It's a big, big thank you. A tale of two managers brought us to where we are. But no, we'd never have done it without Ranieri. I wouldn't even begin to argue with that. But when he came in the summer of 2008, I never thought he'd take us straight up, and spectacularly, then come close to back-to-back promotions. Then return, rejuvenate us, take us up within two and a half years as one of the best ever second tier Champions, keep us up in spectacular style, then leave us with a squad that would win the league the next season. And all within eight years. Any smallish top tier side or biggish second tier side, anywhere in football, that fancies creating something big, should be looking at Pearson.
stevelcfc Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Thanks Nige, your a legend and gave us some fantastic memories leading up to this point. Your work on the behind the scenes sports science, data usage, analysis, recruitment and player recovery is part of the reason why our players have been able to reach their maximum levels of performance. May the white trainers be good to you where ever you end up next. Hope one NP gets an airing on Saturday, if only briefly.
lifted*fox Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 I will always respect Pearson for the work he did at this club. He laid out the foundations and Claudio built the house. Two great managers who came along at the right time and did the right things.
NeilLCFC Posted 3 May 2016 Posted 3 May 2016 Thing that makes me think we might have done it if NP was still here, is the way we played under him at the end of last season. We've just continued that form throughout this season. Thanks for everything Nige
