Donut Posted 15 January 2017 Share Posted 15 January 2017 At what point with Stones is it no longer about "learning" and "realising potential", and do you acutally say hes rubbish? Has that point already come? Thought Man City had pulled off a good deal with him, thought he would be at the heart of their defence for 10 or so years, but every game he does something crazy and it usually ends up in a goal. Price is relative, Leeds value him at that doesn't mean he's worth that Jermaine Defoe is worth about 100 million to Sunderland especially if he keeps them in the premier league doesn't mean he worth remotely anything near that
Royston. Posted 16 January 2017 Share Posted 16 January 2017 is john stones that bad? english defenders are bemoaned for not having the technical ability to play from the back but we finally get one and he gets slaughtered. yes he makes mistakes but he is young. Yes he may be a good player, but he's a crap defender! You can't be good if you are directly responsible for almost a goal a game!

Yes he is. It's just because all the pundits saw some potential, over did the talking him up and now he's not improved one bit they can't back down (except Shearer). I mentioned Titus Bramble earlier because Stones is exactly the same as him, yet Bramble was ripped into and criticised no end. Bramble was good on the ball, he could pass, he spray balls, his positioning was decent, but then between once and five times a game he had a brain fart and completely ****ed up. Sound familiar? Yet one is one of talked up players in English football and the other is seen a joke player.
foxy boxing Posted 16 January 2017 Share Posted 16 January 2017 All those Man City fans thinking Pep was the messiah who would not only play attractive football but get them loads of trophies. ha ha. he has only coached two of the very best teams in the world in a league where one or two teams dominate and since he came to the premier league is now being found out and questions are being asked about his management style. he is finding out the premier league is the most competitive with any team capable of beating another and with the smaller clubs raising their game against top opposition. as a coach he has been defensively woeful. he wants a sweeper keeper who will play out from the back but they are being pressed by teams high up the pitch to force mistakes from their goalkeeper who has been abysmal and makes the decision to ditch Joe Hart ridiculous. Pep has his work cut out at Man city and will find that you just can't throw millions of pounds at a problem and it will go away.his philosophy will be severely tested and if they miss out on the Champions league he will have to be judged on his managerial style and not just get away with it because it is "pep"

I'm sorry, but the young excuse doesn't wash anymore, he's played about 80 premier league games now. He should be experienced enough to know how to actually defend, and realise when and where the correct times are to try and play it out from the back. I think last season there was a stat that he had made the most errors leading directly to a goal in the prem. He's dogshit

Koke Posted 17 January 2017 Share Posted 17 January 2017 Sagna deserve that. Players can't go around smearing refs like that and undermining the refs integrity. Otherwise what's stopping other players of bluntly saying X ref is on the Man City payroll.

Dan LCFC Posted 17 January 2017 Share Posted 17 January 2017 Still think Pep will eventually get it right in England. It's turning into a bit of a disaster this year though, looking very likely they don't even get in the top four. You've got to ask questions of their summer business. What exactly have they got for all of that money?
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 January 2017 Share Posted 17 January 2017 I still think Manchester City will come good at some stage, and as Dan LCFC says I still reckon Guardiola will become a success in English football. Next season they might be stronger, given he would've had a season's experience of managing in the league.

He's got pace and strength, but simply neither skill on the ball nor a veritable end product.
Donut Posted 17 January 2017 Share Posted 17 January 2017 People are far too quick to call people "frauds" after a few defeats or performances. Seen it with Guardiola, Mourinho this season, Pogba has had it, Ibra written off after a goalless spell Sometimes in football, you lose. Sometimes your form dips. Sometimes you adapt to a different league or culture. Guardiola is not a fraud. He just doesnt have the mostdominant squad, and they are adapting to what he wants from them. Pretty sure he will get it right.
