Wymsey Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Playing for your country is meant to be a privilege, only the best performing players are selected. England are making it like another chance for over-rated individuals to show the nation what they can do. Rather support the Women's team, and they aren't bad and full of themselves.
Strokes Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I don't blame Roy Hodgson, it's a difficult position to be in. I'm not sure why you all get so sensitive over it, this won't do Leicester any harm at all. Drinkwater will be keen to impress next season and will get a decent summer break and Vardy will be buzzing when he gets the golden boot at the tournament. Feel for Danny but I still fancy England to have a good tournament.
ScouseFox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 A lot of bitterness in here. Yes Danny is exceptionally unlucky and deserved to go on form this season but it was a massive decision either way. he has gone for players he knows and trusts now he will be judged by his decision time to take in on the chin and get behind the lads. he knows and trusts to do what? go out early doors again? be shit? same old same old.

He just needed to grow some and select in form professionals that have not only shown ability but the strength of character to achieve the so-called impossible ... Talk about bowing to pressure from the so-called big clubs, and don't think they didn't have a call in it through contacts at the FA ... I'm not buying it!
weller54 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Hope England and Woy get embarrassed in the group stages and the ugly dinosaur gets the sack!... Please please Wales stuff the c***s!!

easilee Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Picked by Glenn Hoddle, who picked Danny Rose as Man of the Match for the next match after he cost us a goal. Basically looks as though he picks the name out of a hat. I did defend him after that performance though, he did everything tidily and didn't put a foot wrong, but I thought the lack of creativity was just nerves because of it being his first call-up. I'd love him to be there and I know he can do a lot better but he needed to show more than he did imo What else did the other picked players 'show' more of than our Danny?

m4DD0gg Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I think its well known in football that most of Jack's 'injuries' are related to his nose.
car1os Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I think its well known in football that most of Jack's 'injuries' are related to his nose. Even better... So to guarantee a place in the England squad, join a London club, potentially have pharmaceutical assistance, then have a red carpet rolled out in front of you for the plane to France... Danny's done it all wrong
JamesWelshFox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 When will an England Manager have the balls to stand up to the FA and pick the best players, to play in their natural positions and playing to their strengths, instead of taking unfit, out of form players and playing them out of position (Wilshere is not a holding midfielder). I am gutted for DD, he should have been in that squad on merit. However, with my LCFC hat on (quite literally as I type !) DD will be rested and fit and raring to go come the new season and I'll settle for that. As in common with others, I think England will only turn to Vardy when it is too late. He has the one thing that terrifies all defenders, raw pace, and what will England do with him if he gets off the bench, stick him on the left wing or play him up the middle passing short balls to feet with back to goal. Sadly, I forsee the usual miserable showing at a major tournament for England (I genuinely hope I am wrong) and the FA won't even be outraged, Roy will just get a handshake and a cheque. Pearson should have waited - could you imagine, that would have spiced it all up a bit !!!!!!
Matt Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Absolute joke. Now i'm not for one second gonna say he was great on Friday, he wasn't, if he wasn't a Leicester player i'd have probably been slagging him off, i'm not gonna lie, however, he was no worse than any of the others on Friday. Previous performances for England he deserves to go and his form for us all season he definetly deserves to go. But I know let's take: An injury prone Wilshire, who's played more for England this season than he has for Arsenal.... Henderson who's been injured for a fair while, not played that many games for his club this year, was just as poor as Drinkwater on Friday and certainly gets no where near Drinkwater on league form all season. then go outside the midfield situation: Sturridge, Injury prone, lazy. The sooner Woy gets sacked the better. I hope England go far in the Euro's but they won't, not with that dinosaur in charge, at the same time part of me wants us to fail miserably in the group, i'd piss myself if that happens aswell. Ideally I don't want the latter to happen purely for Vardy, if it wasn't for that i'd be all out for it happening, mind you Woy won't use Vardy to his potential anyway so Vardy will probably get slagged off and not give a good reflection of himself.
Strokes Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 what's difficult about it? the average fella on the street could do it without making as much of a mess as most england managers regularly do. step 1) tell the press to FU CK THEMSELVES Definitely agree step 2) pick our best players Yes and not everybody has the same opinion on who those best players are, drinkwater is still a relative novice in big matches and has struggled a little to adjust into the system. step 3) play them in their best formation You can't pick all our best players and play them all in the formation they and style they are best at or used to because clubs use different systems. step 4) knighthood after winning the world cup. Hopefully. I would have taken Drinkwater, I would have taken Danny Simpson but my football manager CV is pretty shit and I understand that Drinkwater probably didn't quite adjust to the role he was asked of quick enough. It's a shame but I think it's a bit over the top wanting England to fail because he didn't quite make the cut.

Legend_in_blue Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 There's not much more to be said that what has already been mentioned on the subject. I'd also like to see us get stuffed in the group stages thanks to Woy's bizarre, albeit expected, selections. Taking my LCFC bias out of it, not taking Andros Townsend is an even worse decision imo.
Sionnach gorm Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Unfortunately this is not good news for England. A workhorse like DD, who has had a good year, is a mistake. I'm not exactly sure what Roy is thinking, but at first glance, not the smartest thing. I believe his choices are all old school. He needed to bring out a new and younger team, as Germany did after their decline.
easilee Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Just wait until Rashford starts over Vardy. This! And when Vardy isn't playing, will Hodgson play Rashford on the left f***ing wing..........will he f**k !!!
Matt Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Oooh, that was something else I meant to mention in my post. Rashford. Got no problem taking him, I'd take him over Sturridge all day, Sturridge should have been one of the three dropped. But i've seen it mentioned by many reporters "It was abit late for Drinkwater".... Hang on...Abit late???? What about Rashford? He's managed to be shoehorned in, like I say i'd take him, not a problem with it, but if it's too late for Drinkwater, it's too late for Rashford, don't make excuses for Woy, not when they're as poor as that one.
Mrfox452 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Can someone explain wtf Ross Barkley has done to get in that squad? Glad I dont support England internationally the way they are run is a disgrace. Hopefully this makes Drinky more committed next season and hopefully when Roy comes calling he can tell him to **** off!!!

"didn't play in the qualifiers, not internationally experienced" - rashford's mum still drives him to training ffs. "didn't impress in the friendlies" - barkley didn't feature at all really, sturridge didn't play a minute, henderson was shit. "doesn't suit england's style, it's ok doing it for leicester but it's a different system for england" - none of them suit england's style. we play every player out of position just to get every "big name" on the pitch.
