foxes21 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 This is why Germany, Spain, France, etc will always be ahead of England. They've left out some big players & selected players on form not reputation. Arguably the only player not deserving of a place in their squads is Schweinsteiger, but I doubt he'll walk into the starting 11 like Rooney just because he's captain. Take notes England!
AjcW Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 A comment on the BBC that appears to be a quote from Roy. "Rashford picked ahead of Drinkwater as Rooney has a role to play in Midfield." So in effect it's Four Strikers and Waz the extra Mid. Either way... ****ing Melt.
stox259 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I get what you're sayiong but Kante is a better player than Drinkwater. If Kante was English he'd walk into our starting line up and if Drinkwater was French he probably would have made the French squad, but not started. Spain left out Mata and Costa cos they've had underwhelming seasons. Germany has left out Reus cos his fitness is questionable, a bit like Sturridge. Other nations have no problem leaving out big names if they need to. Kante is clearly a phenomenal player but Drinky more than holds his own against Kante statistically. Drinky is the all rounder. He tackles, wins the ball, creates, is mobile, can pass. Arguably Kante's assists and long range passing isn't all that good. (Don't get me wrong I'd father a child for N'golo if I could I like him that much). For me based on this season Drinky gets in any squad at the Euros. Yes he had an off day every now and then but we watch him every week so see his faults. I'm sure if we watched any midfielder going to the Euros for any country they would have more off days than Drinky do well to have contributed more to their football club than what Danny has for Leicester this season.
J.Lisemore Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Well that's that then. Not sure if I'll even watch our games knowing that Vardy or Drinkwater won't even get on the pitch. Lallana, Sturridge, Wilshire , here we go again people..
benpicko Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Picked by Glenn Hoddle, who picked Danny Rose as Man of the Match for the next match after he cost us a goal. Basically looks as though he picks the name out of a hat. I did defend him after that performance though, he did everything tidily and didn't put a foot wrong, but I thought the lack of creativity was just nerves because of it being his first call-up. I'd love him to be there and I know he can do a lot better but he needed to show more than he did imo
RoboFox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I gave up giving a sh*t about England years ago. Once they inevitably embarrass themselves and the nation again, I look forward to more people realising they don't either. I'll enjoy watching the EUROs but bring on next season.
4everfox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Only in England could the best midfielder not be selected, doesn't happen in Germany etc. Hence why they win championships.
whoareyaaa Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Roy Hodgson is a ****ing clown who ain't got a clue what he is doing. So mad at this absolute ****
Karljohn Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Even when Hodgson goes, it'll be some twat like Southgate taking over making exactly the same spineless decisions. Correct.
Kitchandro Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Picked by Glenn Hoddle, who picked Danny Rose as Man of the Match for the next match after he cost us a goal. Basically looks as though he picks the name out of a hat. I'd love him to be there and I know he can do a lot better but he needed to show more than he did imo Well this is nonsense, for several reasons: 1) He played 2 games, friendlies, one of which he was out wide for a half. In one of those games he deservedly got MOTM (I don't care what Hoddle says, I watched and he was the best player on the pitch. So in 2 matches he's had one great performance and one that I didn't see, but I do know Eric Dier came on and scored an own goal and Danny didn't fvck up that badly. 2) They were both friendlies. 3) He was surrounded by the utter shit that are going ahead of him for some unknown reason. It isn't easy to play with crap players. 4) He's just had a 38 (competitive) game season where he's proved enough. 5) You're judging him on 2 friendlies, which is ludicrous. 6) None of the players that he played with in both games did any better. 7) Most of the other midfielders in the squad are average players who have had shit seasons. 8) It was f***ing 2 friendlies, you absolute muppet.
Kitchandro Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 How long before our players think 'it doesn't matter what I do at Leicester, I'll never be respected as an international player until I move to a Liverpool, Man Utd or an Arsenal?'
Karljohn Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Woy will be sacked. Roll up the next 'yes man' Gareth Southgate. Never go anywhere until the FA is smashed to pieces like FIFA.
ST20 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 England need an actual world class manager and the FA need to **** off and die
benpicko Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Well this is nonsense, for several reasons: 1) He played 2 games, friendlies, one of which he was out wide for a half. Yes, exactly, it was two ****ing friendlies. You don't just shove people into a new team ahead of established players because they've had a good season, unless they're able to show something exceptional within that new team, and he didn't, you absolute muppet. You're making out as though I don't want him in there, but of course I do. I'm just saying that I understand why he isn't there.
STUHILL Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Good to see it is not just Leicester fans that are pissed about this ridiuclous decision When will we get an England manager with balls. Another dull and uninspiring, predictable selection. Even chucking in a young, unexperienced Rashford who will likely get no game time, is hardly something we haven't seen before. As many have said, at least Drinkwater will be fresher for next season and determined to prove Roy wrong.
Shelf Side Spurs Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Piers MorganVerified account @piersmorgan 18m18 minutes ago The reason @JackWilshere's in over Drinkwater is that a fit Wilshere's a better player. End. #englandsquad #hodgson #euros Why did we ever let that ignorant, egotistical, arrogant, slimeball Morgan back in the country.....he is the worst kind of fan and a waste of oxygen. If he's just on this planet to annoy people then he's brilliant at it and was found out in America so they sent him packing as well. Foxtrot Oscar Morgan you useless slug.
benpicko Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 would be surprised if he gets many more caps. we're not going to be this good ever again, and everyone isn't going to be injured at the same time again. probably the end of the road for him if he's not even getting a chance after this year. I think if he performs similarly for us next year, even if we're not right up there, he'll get another cap and hopefully be able to show the full range of what he can do. He definitely seemed to either be held on a leash by Hodgson the entire time or just be feeling the pressure of playing for his country, wasn't as creative or as accurate with his passing as he usually is
Qprfan22 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 It's beyond me how Wilshere, who's hardly played this season, gets in ahead of Drinkwater after the season he's had for Leicester. England seem to be going into the Euros with injury question marks over at least three players. What could possibly go wrong? Er...
maynefox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Hodgson is a moron. He can't do two keepy-uppies, he can't high-five a marathon runner. He is that moron who realises he's been short-changed at the pub 12 hours after it has been closed. I can't support a manager who values big-name egos over England's statistically best midfielder this season: Wilshere: yep alright player (but we make him seem like our Messi: an irreplaceable player who we must include even though he's played 141 league minutes). What message does that send out to England hopefuls who are striving to make the team, such as Danny? That concept is biased and it stinks Henderson: an overrated crap player for a crap Liverpool side. It is simple as that. I think Matty James is better than the "next Steven Gerrard" Sturridge: He's good when he's actually fit ... his attitude is awful. He'll get injured. Rashford: A great talent but too young for a major tournament. Barkley: How did this muppet who underperformed with the whole of Everton get included? Half of these players are not even fit. I actually want us to do awful just so EVERYONE bar Leicester realises how crap these overrated egos are (and more importantly so Hodgson gets the sack). We are going into our 3rd major tournament with a man who doesn't even know his starting line-up or what formation we are going to play. He gives himself headaches by including Rashford into the squad. Why do that? "I've got a headache selection", one that was brought upon yourself, you dunce. We have a man who plays Vardy Left-mid. As soon as you play him up-top, he does a back-heel against the world's best goalie, scores the next game and the next game after that he wins the team a penalty and scores the winner ... yet he patronises Vardy by saying he is "lucky" to be in the squad. He's the lucky one being bailed out by Vardy from embarrassment against Turkey!! I can no longer support this manager. Hope Vardy does well. Other than that I hope all these "big-club" useless overpaid and overrated players get egg on their faces when Andy King scores the winner to knock us out of the tournament. I'd rather have Southgate than this dinosaur. No wonder we have done so rubbish at tournaments. The FA needs reorganisation. Full of incompetent individuals such as Danny Mills who think they are God's gift. What message does it send out to everyone: win the Premier League and play consistently all season ... don't get picked for the national squad, let alone even get on the bench? Come on Austria and Fuchs!
Countryfox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Good to see it is not just Leicester fans that are pissed about this ridiuclous decision When will we get an England manager with balls. Another dull and uninspiring, predictable selection. Even chucking in a young, unexperienced Rashford who will likely get no game time, is hardly something we haven't seen before. As many have said, at least Drinkwater will be fresher for next season and determined to prove Roy wrong. Not sure how he is going to do that to be honest ... he's had a fantastic season and shines in our team like a beacon. He must be gutted and I feel so sorry for him. No.. the only way this is ever going to get sorted is if the tw@ts that make the decisions pick the right manager ... and unfortunately that ain't going to be any time soon.
Corky Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I'm not sure Hodgson ever really wanted him there but I think he could've produced more though he plays next to a far inferior player at international compared to club level. Would've liked him to be selected but he'll be fresher for us next season so there are positives. Barkley can count himself very fortunate at being in the squad.
Dan Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Christ, I somehow let my heart rule my head and thought that not even Hodgson can ignore someone who's been in great form all season for the champions. Guess I was wrong for having too much faith in England. Whoever saw that one coming? Every cynic proven absolutely spot on by this appalling set up we have at England. We will do absolutely nothing in France. Absolutely nothing what so ever. I expect sides like Austria, Croatia and Ukraine to all do better than us. We have no direction, no gameplan and a manager with no bollocks. The big club bias has never ever been so blatant.
4everfox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 How long before our players think 'it doesn't matter what I do at Leicester, I'll never be respected as an international player until I move to a Liverpool, Man Utd or an Arsenal?' Its a conspiracy, those clubs pay the FA so that they get all the best home grown players and remain the elite of this country. It wouldn't actually surprise me if the above was true either.
