NO DRINKWATER

Can't say anymore than what's been said already...Premier champ for an injured chump.

It's just embarrassing.

Mind you I don't even bother with England on TV anymore!!

Let's hope Jack Wheelchair can make 2 games in a row at some point. Rashford is an utterly pointless pick.

Roy said quite openly that he wouldn't take a player if he's not 100% fit- let's see how much Sturridge, Henderson and Wilshere end up contributing.

I'm not sure Hodgson ever really wanted him there but I think he could've produced more though he plays next to a far inferior player at international compared to club level.

Would've liked him to be selected but he'll be fresher for us next season so there are positives. Barkley can count himself very fortunate at being in the squad.

This.

What the hell has he done all season?

Instead of Roy making excuses by playing Rooney in Centre-Mid; play him CAM (Barkley's role), get rid of Rashford and include Drinkwater.

Starter for the Premier League Champions Under Ranieri. Left out of 23 man Average squad under Hodgson... Yeah, makes sense.

he isn't necessarily selecting the best players - he should be selecting the best 'team'.  until we get knocked out, you cant argue with his choices.  I would say that picking vardy without having anyone who will look for the over the top pass is strange. vardy wont play in his favoured position until we are chasing the game and then we wont have anyone who knows his movement better than DD.  maybe we wont see much of vardy until its too late. wouldn't surprise me.

feel sorry for DD. would have preferred him to have been ignored completely until the next campaign begins in the autumn. mind you, at least he wont be tarnished by being part of the debacle we are likely to witness in france.

Well **** me. Looks like I was wrong, after seeing these sensational stats from Wilshere it's obvious he was picked over Drinkwater! Silly me!!

Play for a club based in London, Manchester or Liverpool - obviously.

Everyone knows that when the chips are down, England managers always pick players from bigger clubs because they won't get slated as much if they have a duff tournament.

That's a good point - hadn't considered that.

I was trying to work out why this keeps happening. You hear England managers say they'll pick players based on form and not reputation, but then they never actually do it. Why? What is going on that we don't know about? Are they under pressure behind the scenes? Is it more in their interests to just keep the big clubs happy rather than actually win games? I don't know. Maybe it's not that shady. Maybe they are just trying to keep the criticism to a minimum when it goes wrong. Maybe the media, who are notorious for putting England managers under so much stress, are to blame.

Everyone could see this coming from a mile off, but it's still shocking. Drinkwater was first pick in the team that pissed the league, but crocks who've done fvck all all season get picked ahead of him. You just know at least one of Wilshere or Henderson will be injured during the tournament, or will only last 45-60 minutes per game. We'll be forced to endure watching the opposition run rings around fat lad Rooney in midfield, and then hear him slag the fans off for booing another shite performance.

I've found it difficult to take much interest in the national team for a long time now. Probably since Euro '96. It's getting even more challenging now. We win the league, with two outstanding English first team regulars, and the England manager makes it clear that he really, really doesn't want them in the team. One completely dropped, one played out of position, despite the fact that he scores and we win when played up front.

I'll watch England. I'm interested to see what happens, but I'm getting so sick of it now, and until we get a manager with the balls to do what he thinks will be best for results, rather than his own skin, I couldn't care less if they embarrass themselves again. I'll enjoy it, actually. It will be justice for DD and Hodgson, and possibly Vardy if he's mismanaged again. Maybe that might force the change we need.

It's good, really. Happy if we do well, or if we completely fvck it up as usual. Win-win.

A lot of bitterness in here. Yes Danny is exceptionally unlucky and deserved to go on form this season but it was a massive decision either way. he has gone for players he knows and trusts now he will be judged by his decision time to take in on the chin and get behind the lads.

Loser mentality prevails. To be fair I think Henderson or Barkley should have made way before Wilshire, but its still laughable that you can spend all season smoking cigarettes and getting into fights at nightclubs before getting in based on 2 hours of domestic football over someone that has fought tooth and nail for the cause for the whole season, and ended up top of the pile by 10 points.

Its not even a good call tactically. We all know the defence needs protecting as much as possible. DD made more tackles than any other English CM and is the only one who would regularly make quick blind passes up the pitch, relieving pressure on the defence as much as it provides attacking threat.

Bitterness? Erm hello, Wilshere has played 1 game all season. Drinkwater has been an important part in a Leicester City side that just won the Premier League. Fvck England. Hope they go out asap.

A comment on the BBC that appears to be a quote from Roy.

"Rashford picked ahead of Drinkwater as Rooney has a role to play in Midfield."

So in effect it's Four Strikers and Waz the extra Mid.

Either way... ****ing Melt.

If this is the case then surely Barkley should have made way asi Rooney will be playing

attacking midfield plus he has been shite all season.

Also Townsend should have gone instead of the very average Milner.

I just hope it doesn't dawn on Drinkwater that if he plays for Liverpool or ManU he walks

into that England squad.

It's fair for Hodgson to use players he knows but a number of them aren't fully fit. We've had 4 English players as regular starters for a title winning team. If we were a London or Manchester club, all 4 would be automatic picks in the first XI yet alone the squad. Pure and simple, big club bias rules again.

Love England, but same old same old.

It's not rocket science picking an England squad...................or is it?

Disgrace in all honesty.

He has had 2 real chances in an England shirt and one of them he won MOTM. Has had a great domestic season and has been a key figure in a team who have won the premier league.

Barkley - potential but shines in rare moments

Henderson - good team player but just came back from injury

Milner - past it, good versatility but offers very little

Wilshere - good player but not fully fit and injury prone

It's reasons like this why the interest has gone following England, of course I want them to do well and win it but really can't see anything happening. FA are more concerned over sponsorships/money than success and Hodgson is slowly killing supporters interest with boring football, tournament failure and wrong selection. I just wonder what his excuse will be for this tournament when we get knocked out

Well frankly I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than support the Unwise Owls Spurs/Scouse international XI this summer so **** em and hope they go out asap. I'm following this guy's team!

Haha indeed ;) .. just goes to show that even when a club like Leicester City win the premier league, our players STILL have no chance of getting into the England side. Vardy won't start either, I'll be surprised if he even makes it off the bench.
