AmyLGK Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I'm still disgusted at Danny's omission! Absolute travesty! Can he be recalled before the tournament starts when one of the other midfielders inevitably gets injured?
Drygon Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Drinkwater isn't really a good fit for England's system...
Wymsey Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Are Kyle Walker and Clyne really better than Danny Simpson? Both appeared inconsistent this season gone, whilst Simpson hasn't really had a bad game (albeit one or two average ones).
Ric Flair Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Vardy was selected last year after scoring a massive 5 goals and spending a lot of the season playing second fiddle to David Nugent in a side bottom of the league for 2/3 of the season. Nobody on here was criticising Roy for that decision. Check out who was available striker wise when he was called up, it was between him, Kevin Davies and Bez from the Happy Monday's.
Neil_LCFC Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Said on the news Drinky and Townsend aren't on the standby list, so good knows who is.
MattyFromLE Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 In my opinion, Wilshire isn't the "wrong choice". I think he's a decent player when fit, and he's played well for England in the past. Roy has probably seen more from Wilshire, than he has with Danny - just because of how long Wilshire has been in the team. If we are to play a 4-3-3, 4-4-2 diamond, somebody is going to have to sit in front of the back 4 - most probably Dier, who is a fantastic player. What happens when Stones gets injured, and Dier has to drop into the back 4 (which he did not look comfortable with against Australia)? Who's going to play the CDM role? Milner? Henderson? Danny would have been a great addition - I fail to see what Henderson, Barkley or Milner offer that Danny doesn't.
Simo86 Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I'm still disgusted at Danny's omission! Absolute travesty! Can he be recalled before the tournament starts when one of the other midfielders inevitably gets injured? Yes as long as it's before the tournament starts
spudfox2911 Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I don't think anyone here can be seriously surprised by this. A look at Hodgson's body language when he saw Vardy score shows how little he even wanted him in the team. This is partly 'big club mentality' - if he fails, which he will, for doing exactly what other England managers have done he'll still survive and so will his fat wage packet. If he fails for doing something different he will be more at risk. It's the equivalent of the old IT adage that 'no-one ever got fired for buying IBM' It is also his utter total mediocrity and lack of aspiration. I suspect he will only play Vardy as a sub or out of position and then drop him after setting up to fail. TBH, and being cynical here, I'm glad Drinky won't be picking up any injuries...I regard Leicester City as being much more important.. i remember woys face when vardy scored his 11th he looked pissed off next time kane scored he looked like he was going to cream.
smr Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Drinkwater isn't really a good fit for England's system... True, Drinkwater's a winner and England are losers.
AjcW Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 "Systems win you nothing, Football Players win you games" Christ alive what a mellon lol

foxes21 Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Woy's press conference is on now, mentioning how sorry he is for Drinkwater every 2 mins
whoareyaaa Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I'd love to meet Roy face to face just so I can tell him what an absolute cock he is. Needs to retire he ain't no football manager. Fuming still!!
Soar Fox Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Woy's press conference is on now, mentioning how sorry he is for Drinkwater every 2 mins Maybe it wasn't a Hodgson decision and more the FA & sponsors.
whoareyaaa Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I think this has got to be the worst squad we have ever took to a Euros bar 4 players.
AjcW Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 SO MANY Contradictions it's untrue. "As far as we are concerned if you look back over the two years we have been working together, Danny was very much the last man in, in that respect. "It simply became a question of do I take the extra attacker or midfielder? That's how Rashford came about. The front players, apart from Harry Kane - we wouldn't want to move him from a central position - can do the job (wide) in midfield we've got Sterling, Lallana. "I'm happy I've got so many good players to put on the field. Systems win you nothing and football players win you games. If they perform anything like they're capable of we'll be a tough team to beat."

"As far as we are concerned if you look back over the two years we have been working together, Danny was very much the last man in, in that respect. How the hell can he say that with a straight face when he's just put an 18 year old in the squad with 3 months professional experience and 1 cap Actually completely gob-smacked he's said that
foxgas Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Hodgson has sat through many of our games this season and learned nothing about how a team that plays for each other is greater than the sum of it's parts. Instead he has gone for show ponies and the Spurs bottlers with failure and lack of discipline in their DNA.He will start with Kane and Rooney and Vardy will probably get half an hour when we are losing. The pity is we probably have the players to do well in this competition but with this mug in charge it will be another unqualified failure.
Donut Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Its not really Drinkwater being left out thats the issue for me. The issue is, from all the friendlies, even the group games, and the players we HAVE picked, i dont have a clue what system we will play, or what were trying to do on the field. I havent seen any kind of approach at all.
Mrfox452 Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 How the hell can he say that with a straight face when he's just put an 18 year old in the squad with 3 months professional experience and 1 cap Actually completely gob-smacked he's said that I dont know how anyone can be surprised with Roy Hodgson, his decisions or anything he says. The man is simply a moron.

GaelicFox Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Drinky dropped because he was "very much the last man in" If the rest of Europe wasn't laughing at England already then they are now Last man in
Donut Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Drinky dropped because he was "very much the last man in" If the rest of Europe wasn't laughing at England already then they are now Last man in Last man in.....but lets not forget, Hodgson said in an interview previously, they had been tracking Drinkwater even LAST season. Im sure as hell no one was tracking Rashford last season. Not even Man Utd were.
Tuna Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 Woy was certainly chatting shit in that press conference. And now he's gonna get...
