RowlattsFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Even he Roy believes he is s guaranteed starter, why say it? Nothing to gain from saying it. And then following up with excuses as to why he should play. Sounds like he's trying to convince himself.
Dr The Singh Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 But the bizarre quotes continue to flow in that article.... Rooney’s preference when he is not starting as a striker is to operate on the left side of midfield, believing he can see more of the game and therefore exert a greater influence from that position than in the No10 role. “It’s a good problem to have, shoehorning in attacking players,” Hodgson said. “I don’t think I’ve had that for a long time – a lot of good attacking players to shoehorn in – so you won’t find me complaining.” When the **** has shoehorning been a good word associated with football! Yet he continues... We do try to play with style,” he said. “We’ll always try to play with style. If you watch the game again, you will see some very good moments in our attacking play REALLY! Our strikers had 2 touches in the box between them . We do it because we think it’s the best way of winning – pushing our full-backs forward, getting our width in that area, trying to get midfield players into the pockets, trying to get our front players behind the opposition’s back players. We don’t lump the ball into the box, hoping for the best. We try to recirculate the ball and that’s what we did [against Portugal] on many occasions. It gave me satisfaction. At least Roy's wife will be in no doubt he's easily pleased. “Would I have liked to have seen more goal chances? A little bit more success with the final passes? More composure in the final third? Of course I would. But this is 11 players playing against 11 others – 11 human beings. Some had good games and others didn’t have such good games, and that’s going to be my fate going to this tournament. We don’t have hindsight. We don’t know how well or badly each player, when we select the team, is going to play.” What's that Roy - it's the players fault, they didn't play well? You've supposedly picked England's best players and for some reason they're not performing to a high standard - and you take no responsibility for that? The guy drives me nuts - he was speaking this drivel during / after the World Cup where he should have been sacked on the spot. Even though expectations were low, there was no excuse for how badly prepared we looked (that is after all a key component of a managers job). If someone has a video of Roy in full Nazi regalia, singing "Deutschland, Deutschland..." now is the time to release it... please... for the love of God! Roy's wife was doing it, in her day. Just like Roy, she is well past it
Dan Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 The bloke's absolutely lost it. It's like he's on the wind-up. He has shown himself as a very weak manager. I actually don't think it's beyond us to go out in the groups. the more I read the more I laugh. Unbelievable. We have got to be the worst prepared side of the 24. It's literally amazing how clueless we look. And what the hell does Wayne Rooney think when he hears that? Way to fvcking fire him up eh. He knows he can do no wrong. Wayne Rooney picks when he plays. What a massive shame it is. This'll be one of our biggest ever contingents at a tournament and they're going to be let down by these absolute jokers.
Super_horns Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Rooney's already got the boredom excuse is ready for if it goes badly! I was quite confident but having seen the other night it worries me how poor we looked against 10 men trying to break through. No real pace being used until Sterling came on because we had the front 3 in their wrong positions.
MPH Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 Is it really bad that i have lowered my expectations to just being happy if we get to the knockout stages?
Wymsey Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 Just going to enjoy it with a clear mind, even if Kane doesn't pass when he should do and Vardy out wide again.
kingcarr21 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 You know full well that we will play shite against Russia but Rooney will score a belter. We snatch the win and Roy will have a big smug grin as if to say I told you so, overlooking the fact that we have played awful and he will stick with it. Then we get an absolute hammering against a team half decent. I firmly believe that Rooney has hindered England's development for years as other players are forced out of their best positions for Rooney. The sooner Rooney goes the better. Kane and Vardy as a front 2 with Alli behind them is an absolute given imo.
davieG Posted 7 June 2016 Author Posted 7 June 2016 Smalling returns from training with strapping round his knee.- sky
ScouseFox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 hahaha boss. smalling might be injured, bertrand might be injured, we're got 5 defenders one of them is john stones, dier will have to cover the centre halves and drinkwater's in ibiza. played the boys.
Sammy Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 If John Stones is starting at CB for our nation and we all think that is ok there is something wrong.
The Doctor Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Also, a CB partnership of John Stones and Eric Dier is going to be hilarious. Just as well it's just Russia.
Dan Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I didn't mind the three centre halves pick, but he ruined that by not taking Drinkwater. I suppose one positive is that we haven't just lost at home to Georgia.
AKCJ Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 I reckon we should play 13 outfielders too. Not as daft as he looks is Ray.
Ric Flair Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 It's absolute nonsense! They say he's going to play Vardy and Kane with Rooney, Alli and Dier in midfield. Are we only playing 3 midfielders then?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 It's absolute nonsense! They say he's going to play Vardy and Kane with Rooney, Alli and Dier in midfield. Are we only playing 3 midfielders then? Looks like notes to an attacking shape drill to me - there's a general planned shape and you identify the pairs that will be involved. However, what is very weird is that assuming you use a back 4, that formation would need 12 players!
Corky Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 It's only a "gaffe" if someone takes a picture of it and decided to zoom in and highlight what is written. Who needs scouts when our press are more than happy to help out by giving away information- then they wonder why people in the game don't want to work with them.
Larry_LCFC Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 The whole England management are an absolute farce from top to bottom. Rooney a mandatory starter? Have a word Roy you dick.

Webbo Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Just heard Chris Smalling interviewed. What a girly voice.
jammie82uk Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Just seen joe harts press conference certainly seems like he didn't want to be there giving 1 or 2 word answers
ScouseFox Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 i am pretty confident we are going to win it. like 95%.
