CockneyFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Look at the situation. We're set to receive a net £15m for a 24-goal, PL-winning striker. To put that in perspective, Alan Shearer went for that kind of money, 20 years ago! Before you factor in the value of football / the PL these days, before you factor in inflation, etc etc. It may well not be Rudkin's fault here at all, but somebody somewhere within our football club has dropped a massive, massive clanger. Never in a million years is Vardy worth £15m to us in the current climate, and somebody somewhere has to take responsibility - Rudkin or otherwise.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Like I said what your silly comments have got to do with this I didn't know Because when John Rudkin's down the shops he doesn't put the little barrier at the end of his items for the next shopper to use the conveyor belt. (Also you may have missed the hilarious Spurs fans jokes earlier in the season and are unable to draw the comparison.)
Izzy Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 And people reckon the buck stops with Rudkin eh? Don't you think Whelan or Top have the final say? But you wouldn't place the blame with Top though would you? No, because he's a great owner and that would be foolish so let's blame Rudkin because he's an easy scape goat. Get a fvckin grip, he's got the club's best interests at heart because they pay his wages. Reading some of this shit you'd think he was deliberately trying to screw the club over. Utter bollux.

Utter bollux. His job is to negotiate contracts with players representatives with the aim of protecting the clubs assets. That's his role in the football club. He himself has negotiated a contract in which one of the clubs prize assets can depart for half of his value (not my opinion talking, independent statistical study by CIES http://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/mr/mr16/en/ ). He hasn't done a very good job, then, has he?EDIT: See Figure 10, #78 if it helps
blue army 1988 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Is it 100% Vardy has got a clause like this? And if he has is it 100% that it's for £20m?
Kitchandro Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 The guy has come across as a super special kind of fvcking stupid in all this. You put on a sell on fee for half of what the players worth when he has OVER HALF of his contract to go in the summer where his profile will never be higher for one more fvcking year? Jesus fvcking Christ the man is a grade A god damn idiot. Just tell his fvcktard agent to piss off for a few month and he goes nowhere because you hold all the cards but instead Rudkin deals the cvnt a straight fvcking flush and sticks an ace up his sleeve for good measure. Rudkin doesn't care because we've got Schlupp. Schlupp is our only good player apparently.
Webbo Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Something goes well eg winning the league "who the fvck is Rudkin?". Something goes bad eg "Vardy going for £20 million" it's all Rudkin's fault.
foxsake123 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Arsenal met Suarez release clause too he didnt insist he speak to them. Rudkin is LCFC through and through.
VLC86 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 John Rudkin bought that Vardy lookalike twat his kit, BURNNNN HIM!
Wymsey Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He's been here for 10+ years and has improved the state of the academy somewhat. Must be doing something right and is quite regarded by staff at the club.
Guest ttfn Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Something goes well eg winning the league "who the fvck is Rudkin?". Something goes bad eg "Vardy going for £20 million" it's all Rudkin's fault. Well Rudkin's role is overseeing football operations which would appear to involve two high-profile aspects: 1) Finding and recruiting a first team manager 2) Negotiating player contracts. I don't think anybody will argue that with regards to (1) he hasn't done a fantastic job as part of a committee with the CEO and Top, but it's a bit of a stretch to assign him credit for us winning the league just because he appointed Ranieri. The second part over which he appears to have direct oversight is negotiating player contracts both for existing players and current ones. Doing his job well should ensure protecting the club's interests and this is a hard thing to quantify without full transparency over what is in players' contracts. However, this situation with Vardy alone has (depending on your point of view) either cost this club £10-£15 million or (if we didn't want to sell at all) its talismanic striker. The two situations you're comparing are not alike - Rudkin's input to us winning the league is minimal but his input in allowing our England international striker to leave for what amounts to just £15 million to us is enormous - he probably quite literally signed off on that and if he didn't he certainly would have approved it. The two situations you describe are also interesting because one (winning the league) is a football thing and the other (negotiating player contacts) is a commercial thing. Quite what qualified an ex-Academy coach to be in charge of negotiating contracts and transfer fees I don't know - it's hardly surprising we got taken to the cleaners when you look at it like that. Perhaps what we need (and who knows, maybe what we have in an advisory capacity) is some absolutely horrible scrotty agent working on our behalf so that we never get shafted like this again, because us getting 33% lower than what we should be for Vardy is not good enough.

st albans fox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Everyone in the academy set up thinks he is a shark including staff. Don't know where you got your info from. Whatever he is, he has managed to manipulate a scenario where he is the most powerful football man (I know Claudio is the manager) at the premier league champions. My experience of men who make it to the top is that they are rarely 'nice' underneath any glossy veneer. The question then becomes whether his decisions are any good. Clearly people like this will ruffle quit a lot of feathers. without knowing all the facts, I have to go with a continuation of trust in him and the board. They don't seem to have made too many bad calls over the past couple years. What is interesting is the lack of required investment from the owners. Since they generously converted debt to stock, they haven't had to put their hands in their pockets once we were promoted. Profit last season - 25m. Profit this season likely to be nearer 40m. If we take in 80 m for our three stars, then we would need to spend an absolute fortune over the next 12 months for us not to make another 40/50 mill profit. so by the end of next season, they could have recouped their converted debt with dividend repayments. I'm not saying for one minute that this is what they will do but it seems we will never find out if they were prepared to put further big investment into the club for players. It's feasible that this profit could be used re stadium expansion or a new build but then this would be an investment rather than an injection of cash with no guaranteed return. All this highlights how little we, as fans, know about what goes on behind the scenes at our club. Given what we have just witnessed, it clearly doesn't matter if you trust those at the helm. it's results on the pitch what matter!

Wymsey Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Everyone in the academy set up thinks he is a shark including staff. Don't know where you got your info from. Not putting my sources on here. If Rudkin, for some reason, left the club soon - many that know him well will see it as sad and down-heartening.

eblair Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I think rudkin's a bell but the release clause is not his fault, it's vardy's. Vardy demanded the low release clause and our anger should be firmly directed at him - hate to say it t
GaelicFox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Mahrez and Kante all have them !!! Cheap ****kkg release clauses , it's like a nightmare According to a report in the Sun online, the Arsenal money men are said to be genuinely taken aback at how cheap they may lay their hands on the 25-year-old. They will be back for Kante after the Euros !!! Who is going to halt this ? Time for Top to step forward and get a grip on this disaster
erlee Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 >>from football365 Arsenal are in talks to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to an exclusive in The Sun. With Arsenal already closing in on the surprise signing of Jamie Vardy, deputy digital news editor Daniel Cutts writes that Mahrez is also in talks to join Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger pleasantly surprised by the Algerian’s buy-out clause. To be honest, this is the first we have heard of a Mahrez buy-out clause. The Sun say it stands at £25m, which would surely tempt another couple of clubs at least. Paris St Germain, Maybe? It’s fair to say that The Sun are going big on this one, saying ‘Vardy is set to be joined by his PFA Player of the Year team-mate Mahrez’...... <<<<<<< it's crazy esp Vardy who negotiated a new deal in Feb/Mar.. if he penned a new deal then - it would be fair to say that would be the chance to "locked him down" with special care on release clauses. Whoever undertook the negotiation on LCFC side did a sloppy job - maybe thru lack of experience. afterall it has never happened before. In any case - good luck to Fleetwood - they deserve some dosh with the amount of it flying around.. if Vardy comes back to KP-Stadium he'd better wear safety gear. As for Mahrez or Kante - they're foreign legions - so expected to come & go like leicester Market

Absolutely right. There will be sound reasons the contracts are how they are, one being that sometimes it may be the only way to get people to sign. Let's face it for example, until this year most foreign players wouldn't have a clue where Leicester is so apart from money, what exactly had we got to offer. Rudin will have been given his job by people who rate him at whatever he's being asked to do for them. They seem pretty good at their job don't you think? Or should we trust the budget to some armchair pundit. I would imagine that the present day footballers contract is a lengthy complex piece of work and take weeks of negotiation and alterations to produce. Each to his own job, and as for Rudkin, the fact is I doubt many on here have a clue what consists of day of work for him.
FLAN Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 Dont these clauses just allow them to talk to clubs? It doesn't mean we have to sell at that price
Fox92 Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 If players want a release clause then fair play but £20mill in this modern game is stupid. Should be at least £30mill for me.
bluebeau Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 Dont these clauses just allow them to talk to clubs? It doesn't mean we have to sell at that price I think you will find that it means if a club are willing to pay the amount stated in the release clause, then they can talk to the player concerned. If the player says he wants the move, then his present club can't stop the move to the new club. However if another club also want the player, then the price can be driven up by the 2 clubs competing for his signature. Unfortunately in the case of Vardy it doesn't appear that a rival club are entering into the 'auction'.
