Schlupp - West Brom

I think he still has a lot to offer us and his sheer pace and power and ability to frighten defences is a skill that few possess, even if his decision making can leave a lot to be desired. Would be sad to see him go but respect his decision, hope he gets a regular spot at West Brom and tears it up (except against us).

Letting him go I feel will be a huge mistake.

Crazy amounts of pace. Capable of going past players and also good at defending. There's not too many players like him.

Personally I think this is bad news. We need to bolster the squad not reduce it.. it seems Rudders has zero problems shipping out players but incoming traffic is not so easy.

Hey ho, lets hope we can sign 1 or 2 more in the next week or so, if we are letting Jeff and Moore leave.

Surely, selling him is a big mistake with our upcoming European campaign. He ticks the homegrown quota box, covers several positions and has proved as recently as this month that he can be impactful against Barcelona. What more does he hav to do? I'm starting to get concerned with squad development with our preseason and Hull games in mind.

The only thing I feel we can critisize Leicester for is letting players go who have more than a year on their contracts that we need.

Grow some balls. Tell them you want them so they are not going. Most Players aren't going to ruin their chances of leaving later by not playing hard.

This feels like a weird transfer agreement.

Personally i I can't see Jeff pushing a move, been here through the academy, seems well liked in the club, young player of the year every year and has now hit the heights of champions league football this year.

Our whole selling point was if the player ain't happy, they can go.

£12m for a player of Schlupps versatility, speed and age is nothing for a premier league player!

Ive said multiple times Kantes transfer was cheap too and now this one is! I don't want Schlupp to go but our transfer selling is shit! Why do we seem to undervalue all our players!!??

We we will end up spending the same amount for a player with some of the same qualities with an unknown adaption to the premier league for this shitty £12m.

Good work LCFC :schmike:

If Jeff goes that brings our net spend this summer to around  -£10 million. He can also change games when he comes on. His finishing can be a problem but still massive threat going forward. Players player of the year at one stage Poor decision to let him go do we really have the riches on the field that would keep him out most of the time- didn't see it yesterday.

If you look at other teams' fans' reactions. They all think we're robbing West Brom.

With all due respect,  fans on here know more about Jeff than a bunch of ill-informed numpties from 'other' teams?

Agreed...sadly he's gone...deal agreed and will be confirmed within the next 48 hours......

A second unnecessary mistake this off-season.

Every player has a price. While I would like us to keep Schlupp, £12m is fair I think for a player that realistically will not start a game for us this season. A player that didn't play yesterday also all of a sudden looks a lot better than they maybe are. A bad defeat always does this.

If he wants first team football to progress his career, then he needs to move on as he probably won't ever get it here. I also don't think we should be improving his contract terms, so he could probably earn more elsewhere.

That's true. However, they say he's just pace and that's pretty much true.

Bad decision if true. Has the ability to change games and does add value to the squad.

He is one of the 'band of brothers', why start breaking that up?!

I don't think Jeff is being forced out of the door here, I think it's at his own request in which case fair enough. He wants to play and that's admirable.

He is under contract.  The Club is bigger than him and we will need him. He should be told he must stay and knuckle down.. If he is replaced with Brady, then we have a serious recruitment problem.

Yeah, just tell him to sit on the bench for the next three years because we really need him. Tell him you'll be fine with us being either 3rd choice left back or 4th choice winger. Make him feel really wanted. I'm sure he'll be fine and happy with that.

Problem is, thats what we're going to have to tell his replacement. Not a very attracting way of having to recruit someone.

There are a lot of decent players out there that would be happy to join us. I just don't think you can force a 3rd or 4th choice player to stay when an offer of around £12m is on the table.

Surely EVERY player wants first team football. Should we just sell everyone except the starting 11?

Do you really think that King, Ulloa, Okazaki, Albrighton etc... don't want first team football?

Exactly that. This is not rocket science it is called having a 'squad'.  The EPL is full of squad players as only 11 can start each game.

Posted

Our squad is thin as it is, I hope if he does go then that's the prelude to 2 or 3 quality additions otherwise we are going into the season slightly weaker than last which makes no sense at all.

Posted

I'm guessing it's because we haven't offered him a new deal and he is unhappy with how his bestie mate Moore is being treated.

When he was injured last season and came back, it was like signing a new player he was fresh and gave us something other players don't. I'll miss his unpredictability and power/pace.

I doubt he is leaving because he isn't guaranteed minutes, he is most definetly guaranteed to start cup games, an impact sub in the CL. Fuchs is an old man. Schlupp wasn't a great LB but was a different option, we are hugely relying on Chilwell and Gray now.

I think it's a crazy decision. The only thing that makes sense is he wants a wage increase and sign on fee so he can pay off his ex missus. Why leave a CL and Champions, crazy.

Every player has a price as I said earlier. So what would you sell Schlupp for?
